barney, are you pressing down on the top of the carafe (pitcher) down while blending? A lot of people do this for some reason, all it does is put undue stress on the motor (unless you have a high quality industrial kitchen/bar blender).

Yet another argument for making your own. I can’t see eating sugar, processed soybean/cottonseed oil and high fructose corn syrup or any combination of the above when it’s cheaper to make your own with optimal ingredients. Not even to mention how much better it tastes.
