My Surge is Not Mixing Well

The latest tub of Surge I received is not mixing as well as previous Surge powders I have ordered. There is a chunky layer sitting on top of my cup after I mix it. This has not happened previously. Is this just an anomaly or has something changed in the manufacturing process?

Try shaking it up!

That happens to me sometimes too, just keep mixing.

Yes, the new Surge does not mix as well as the old one. No amount of shaking can make it dissolve completely. That’s why I prepare it now at home, before I go to the gym - I guess a blender can dissolve even asphalt if you’re persistent enough.

I have also noticed that it doesn’t mix entirely, but I have also noticed that if you let it sit a couple of minutes, then shake it up again, it will dissolve the little clumps.

The new Surge does not mix as well but it could also be your water. None of my supps mixed well. Then we got a filter and everything mixes tons better.

Are you just using a spoon to stir it up?

Put it in a shake bottle with ice cubes. Makes it just like a spray paint can with ball bearings in it.

That, or use a hand blender. You can pick one up at any department store for less than 20 bucks.

In many of my experiments, waiting for ten minutes (such as the time it takes to finish the last four sets) will yield a completely dissolved solution.

But expecting people to think about a situation and coming up with their own solutions? Priceless.

Ordinarily, someone posting about how to mix a protein shake should be mocked. But Surge is actually tricky stuff. Blend it too much and you have more “head” on it than cheap keg beer.

Using a shaker bottle with several ice cubes works best.

Thanks for confirming that the new product does not mix as well as the old one. So my question is why doesn’t it mix as well? This was one of the marketing points when it was first introduced and I loved that it mixed completely with no chunks. I hate to get on my soap box again but why can’t Biotest leave well enough alone when it comes to their best product. I am alol for innovation but not if it means regression. Bring back the original Surge formulation that mixes completely.

Biotest still makes the original Surge.

However, the new formulation (seen in the two new flavors) is based on the latest post-workout research.

It contains more whey hydrsolates and greater amounts of the BCAA L-Leucine

The most recent research indicates that Leucine alone has a greater anti-catabolic effect than the previous combination of BCAA.

So, in short, we made it better.

As far as not mixing well, this is the first we’ve heard of it. If that’s indeed true, twirl you spoon a couple of more times, use a shaker bottle with an ice cube, or use a hand blender.

Will these changes seen in Chocolate and Vanilla be occuring in the Orginal and Wild Raspberry flavors?

Looks like you guys never tried to stir it with the spoon. The old Surge dissolved quickly and completely even if only stirred up a little bit with the spoon. The new one requires a hand blender or something equally “potent”. I guess that’s why people complain.

If the new formula is better for building muscle, then forget everything else. As long as a blender can dissolve it, it’s fine by me.

Just my $0.02

The only way i’ve managed to get it to dissolve like it used to is to use a hand blender. Kind of sucks not being able to just shake it up at the gym like i used to…but oh well.

Hopefully they can fix it eventually.
Haven’t heard anyone say that they can get it to dissolve like it used to in a shaker bottle yet.

I have “old” Surge, and “new” Surge. IMO, they both mix easily. I just dump 16oz water in my shaker, dump 2 scoops on top. Shake for a minute, head to the gym. I shake a couple more times before placing in the fridge, and when I am done with my workout, give it another quick shake and slam it. I have never had chunks, particles, nothing. This goes for Original, Raspberry and Chocolate.

Sometimes I even have to use a water bottle, and get the same results.
