I’ve never actually done any seated DB presses. Are they easier than doing them standing?
MUCH easier lol. I never do standing DBs though, so I can’t say how much exactly
Haha cool. I may have to give 'em a try.

Nice pulling session man! Makes we want to do some deads again.

That’s awesome man. I’ve been to some BB’ing shows but never anything near as big as the Arnold. Glad you had a good time. And good progress in here.

5/3/1 Bench (5 day)

Medicine Ball Throws
3 X 5

Bench
Bar X 5, 95 X 5, 135 X 5
165 X 5
195 X 5
220 X 6 PR was only supposed to do 5 but I was kind of pissed about hitting the racks so I did another

Pin Press
220 X 3
225 X 3
235 X 3
245 X 3
255 X 3
235 X 3
245 X 3
235 X 3

Incline DB
65 X 5 X 2
75 X 5
80 X 5
85 X 5 (+1 rep from last session)
85 X 5 (set PR)
85 X 4 (set PR)

Flat DB
85 X 4
80 X 5

Circuit (done twice)
BB Shrugs 275 X 15, 12
Face Pulls 100 X 20, 120 X 12
Floor Flyes 25 X 15, 30 X 10
Rear Delt Blast Straps X 12, 8
Feet Elevated Pushups w/ Chains X 15, 10
Elevated Pushups X 7, didn’t do any the second circuit

NOTES: Pretty good session. Pretty pissed about the last set of bench. There’s about a half inch of clearance on either side of the bar ends and the catches so it’s really easy to hit them. Could have done more if that didn’t happen.

Damn dude, sounds like a great time, and to top it off with pool in the early hours lol. Looks like a pretty long ass session you just posted.
Yeah it was a great time man!

The session was pretty high volume, but it only took a little over an hour. It sucked though lol

Thanks AC!

You’re not deadlifting? This saddens me

Definitely go next year if you get the chance. I’m planning on going again as long as I can make it again

The squat is looking pretty good!

You can just go ahead and cover me jelly with JM posting in your log.
Hahhaaa - I am sorry I missed you at Arnold Ashylarry - would have been cool to meet you. I did meet alot of people from T-Nation, and saw some out Saturday night…it was very cool. COnfirmed my opnion tha this is the best site out there…

JM

Well of course I’m DLing, just not until Sunday. This saddens me.

Good benching man, sucks about hitting the rack. That really throws off the groove. How are you liking the pin presses?

I like the red chucks matching the red shorts.

Good lifting man. nice PR.

Hey man,

I’m really liking your version of 5/3/1 - sweet PR’s

How many weeks are left for the competition ?

Congrats on your progress with your other thread too btw. (the back pic)

@John M: Darn, if I would have known you were there I would have definitely said hi! Should have worn my T-Nation shirt

I have a vid coming for you in a couple of hours. I’ll thank you ahead of time for the hell I’m about to endure lol

@Aqua: I like the pin presses, but I feel like doing them too often is a bit draining. I placed an order for strong bands from EliteFTS today though. If you’re interested, get them NOW. Lol seriously though, the strong black bands are currently buy one get one free, plus if you do it before 2:00 pm, you get free shipping and a free St. Patty’s day shirt. Great deal

@Bug: Funny story actually: I went out to the bars a couple of weeks ago and had some “bro” come up to me and say “Sup man, I see you beasting in the gym all the time with those red chucks” lol. I wear them every day, I love 'em!

@un: Less than 5 weeks left now! thanks man, I appreciate it

About to go do my 5 day for squats. Since I only have to do the required reps, I figured I would do a crazy leg press drop set as mentioned in John’s recent article. I’m not looking forward to not being able to walk for a few days lol. My lifting partner isn’t gonna be able to make it, so I’ll have to push it on my own

I might just get me some more bands. I oughta make a pair out of my average and mini bands. Plus I should be getting some other goodies

5/3/1 Squat (5 day)

Squat
bar X some X some
95 X 5
115 X 5
135 X 5
195 X 5
225 X 5
255 X 5

Leg Press (3 second negatives)
3 pps X 10
4 pps X 10
5 pps X 8
Meadows’ Giant Dropset from Hell:
6 pps X 8 PR +2 reps
5 pps X 5
4 pps X 6
3 pps X 9
2 pps X 15

Seated Leg Curls
45 X 6
70 X 6
90 X 6
100 X 6
110 X 6
115 X 6 +1 forced and held rep

NOTES: Sat on the leg press for a solid 2 minutes before moving lol. I may have started too heavy, but I set a PR. Was going for 6 reps on the later sets but couldn’t on 5 pps, those slow negatives are killer. There’s no way I was doing any RDLs after that haha. I’ll be going to the strength club later to do some Prowler and sled work though.

Thanks Meadows, you’re out of your mind haha

Go for it man! I can’t wait to do some reverse band benching

I think I may just get some major DOMS just from watching that.

Way to be a crazy mother fudger!

Eccentric-less Session

“Sled” Pulls
Bench +7 plates for 4 or 5 sets of down and back
Bench +8 plates down and back

“Prowler” Pushes (dragging bench face forward)
Bench +7 plates for 4 or 5 sets down and back
Bench +8 plates down and back

Pull Throughs with Sled
Bench +2 plates X 3 sets down and back

My Prowler/Sled

NOTES: Had an ENORMOUS migraine at the start of the session during cleans. Really wanted to leave but decided to push through it. It was gone by a few sets of the bench pulls

Haha, seriously man that set was hell. You can’t tell from watching, it was much worse than it looks. Some guys asked me to help him pick up a loaded BB off the ground (he can’t deadlift it?!?!) and I bent over to pick it up and almost fell over haha. A buddy of mine came over and picked it up for him

Haha, I could definitely tell when you were just sitting there after finishing the set, er rather sprawling in pain.

Why would someone ask you to lift a loaded BB off the ground for them?

I didn’t even realize how dumb of a question it was until after I lifted it for him haha. I was like “Wait, you just did a set with this (not sure what he was doing) but you can’t rack it?” I think it was maybe 165 lol. Silly kids . . . .

Silly indeed. Trips to the gym never cease to bring about an odd experience or two.

Back/Biceps

Weighted Chins
BW X 8
15 X 3
30 X 3
45 X 3
60 X 3
70 X 3
90 X 2.9 PR almost got 3, would have been a SOLID PR
BW X 8

Pulldowns
4 sets

straight-Arm Pulldowns
4 sets

HS Low Rows
4 sets

Preacher Curls
3 sets

DB Curls
3 sets

Cable Curls
4 sets

NOTES: Not the greatest workout. Really sick of lifting at our school’s rec center, it’s just too damn packed. Still got a decent session in, but strength dropped off after that PR on chins.

Badass chins man. BW 100x3 in the near future?

What, you expect me to stop where I am now?

Right after that set a kid came up to me from our strength club (your typical MySpace abs guy, he weighs probably 140 and is trying to cut. I asked him “What is there to cut?”) and said “Wow, why you gotta show off?” so I said “that’s not showing off, it’s called progressive overload. Try it out sometime” haha. He’s such a nice guy, but he talks way too much and I can’t stand being in the gym with him

If you do, you’ll give me some time to catch you…what if I say please? haha jk

I find it odd how many people are so concerned about cutting…

I know what you mean about being talkative. I have a bud that trains @ my gym. He’s actually one of the few dudes who knows his stuff; he knows about Westside and all of that. He can be pretty talkative, but he’s cool to talk to. The thing is, he respects other people’s training and realizes that he’s pretty talkative, so it doesn’t actually matter. :stuck_out_tongue:
