I dont tend to keep anything in my back pockets tbh, I’ve rolled my glutes twice now and it has eased off quite a lot so fingers crossed the problem is sorted.

Safety Bar Squats are horrible, but enjoyable all at the same time! I may have gone a bit ego heavy with the weight, I should have gone lower to get used to them but hey ho!
Wasn’t feeling this session at all, my warmups on Deadlift were horrible, and my first 2 work sets didn’t feel amazing, but I set up for the 5+ set and something clicked, and the weight flew off the floor for 10 easy reps! Only put the bar down because it felt like a Callus was about to go… After that I was in the zone for the rest of the session.
As far as I’m concerned they are to squatting issues what penicillin is to tonsilitis. Except I’m not allergic to SSB squats.
Nice plus set. It must have been horrible. Lucky you noticed the callous. I usually don’t till I finish.
I don’t usually notice either… I could feel the bar tugging against it luckily enough so ditched the bar after the 10th rep.
I’m deffo feelin them today, my legs have been proper weak all day lol.
I have to admit, I’m lucky. When I was doing kettlebell sport I fucked up my hands so often at the start that I’d train with a pair of nail scissors out to cut off the torn open blisters. Pro tip: don’t stuff a torn blister with chalk powder. It doesn’t do anything productive.
By now my callouses are pretty established and I usually don’t have to do much other than trim them occasionally. I think I’ve had two proper tears in the last two years.
I’ve only torn one badly a couple of times, theyr quite established now I just didn’t want to risk it, theres nothing worse!
A strong callus is a valuable investment said only someone who deadlifts regularly
I’ve torn calluses now 3 out of the past 4 weeks after never having torn one before. Only one was deep enough to draw blood so just a minor inconvenience ![]()

Feeling well rested after my weekend away, had a great time but glad to be back at the gym!!
Deadlifts tomorrow where I’ll be doing 3 singlers after my 5/3/1 sets, then I’ve got an AMRAP set to do at 2x bodyweight, little competition thats running at the gym to win some LV2LFT clothing, 190 for a good number of reps shouldnt be too bad ![]()
I nicked this idea off you. Much nicer than doing them between work sets. What do you reckon you’ll get on the AMRAP double bodyweight?
It was just a good way for me to loosen off my shoulders ready for my work sets as i struggle with shoulder mobility, works wonders.
I got 10 reps at 190kg last week, and that was limited by a callus almost tearing so if I reset my grip instead of just dumping the bar I’m hoping more than 16 (thats the current top reps), but because I’m doing it after my 5/3/1 week and 3 singles, I’m not sure how much I’ll have ledt in me!

So the challenge was set at the gym of 2x BW Deadlifts for AMRAP and I answered with 12, which I don’t think was bad considerig I did my main workout first! Sadly I’m in second, some monster got 16 the other day! Oh well, competition is fun ![]()
Dropped a single to allow for the 2x BW set, but I’m happy with how the session went.
Hit my upper back George Leeman style, 1 all out heavy set for high reps, then some smaller assisstances, I’l be keeing it at 120kg until I can get 25-30 reps, then I’ll jump the weight up!

Did my singles today as touch n go, the competition paused triple at 120kg really knocked a lot out of me, deload next week then all my singles will be competition paused with a press command from 1 of the guys at the gym! Need to get used to it!
Squats tomorrow then its deload week which I’m feeling ready for, hopefully come back full of energy to wreck it for the next 2 cycles and get some good singles work in!
