My Problem with Wikileaks

Or a new account of someone else. I’ll know if I get my account turned in to the mods again… lol.

Nah. Assad is pretty bad.

Unbelievable.

Are you SERIOUS, @chris_ottawa?

If so…tell that to the citizens of Syria…(especially Allepo and Raqqa).

Let’s see what they have to say.

@pfury - You seem not to have any idea of what is going on over there. Again, I’m not trying to claim that Maduro is some sort of genius but he was trained in Cuba. Cuba is a backwards place, but they actually have a very good education system. Blaming the situation on incompetence and corruption just doesn’t make sense, look at how the US had their puppet Guaido waiting for an opportunity to try and take control. The opposition claims that the election was fraudulent because they boycotted it, how does that equal their leader being the rightful president? And if the US cares so much about the people then why all the talk about military intervention? Have Iraq, Libya, or Afghanistan benefitted from the American importation of freedom or have they becom failed states? The US is only interested in their oil.

OK, but I don’t really see your point. Venezuela has already been aligned with the rest of the commies for a while. The only thing new is the US actively trying to overthrow their government.

I hear them saying all kinds of stuff about Russia on a regular basis but nothing about war crimes. On the other hand, there is all kinds of stuff about the US on a regular basis, no research required. Why doesn’t the media make as big of a deal about Russian war crimes? Is the left-leaning media aligned with the Russians?

But is that worse than the US? What about Guantanamo and all their other secret prisons around the world? The Chicago police even had a secret prison where various criminals were abused. It’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Assad is no angel, but overthrow him and who is in charge? ISIS? Syria was a livable country before the war started, now it may never be again. Is that what you call freedom and democracy? Do you consider Libya to be a success story?

So you support ISIS and Al-Qaeda? That’s who the “Syrian opposition” is, and most of the aren’t even Syrian.

And seriously, what has Assad done that the US hasn’t? I’m not aware of Assad claiming to be anything other than what he is, on the other hand the US is run by a bunch of liars and hypocrites hiding behind some tall tales of freedom and democracy.

I didn’t think you would. My point, put simply, is that the Petro is not all talk or a mystery. It’s a long term strategy to disrupt the world’s monetary system and oust the US dollar as the standard.

As for this “new” thing. I dunno about that. Nor would I agree that the US was the only actor involved in destabilizing Vz. You think Rosneft just all of the sudden looked over at Vz and said “Wow! What a great opportunity that just happened! Let’s help them out!”.

(I meant to say Allepo and Raqqa…Mosul is in Iraq).

This is true and anyone who has read the Syrian Bill of Rights would know that we are all the same.

Well, if this is the same Petro that you are talking about then the US has little to worry:

“As of August 2018 it does not appear to function as a currency”

Yes, and Syria has invaded many countries and is involved in military operations around the world.

Assad’s Alawites have a mini colonial empire - it’s called Syria. The Assad clan is remarkable for the fact that they’ve managed to stay in power for decades despite them belonging to a heretic shia sect.

Old man Hafez and Bashar’s uncle Rafik were killing roughly a thousand sunnis per year to stay in power, with the outlier being the First Siege of Homs in 1982 where around 20k sunnis were killed.

So what are you saying, you back the Sunnis in this sectarian conflict? Both sides look pretty messed up to me. If you think that what happened to Syria is good then you should be pushing for a civil war in Saudi Arabia too, and keep in mind that pretty much all international Islamic terrorism is of the Sunni variety.

As for heresy, you could examine some of the stuff going on in Mecca and Medina (including the Hajj) and you will see that there is plenty of paganism woven into Islamic tradition. They have some clever explanations, but in the end it’s similar to the Catholic church in that regard.

No. Not even close.

As soon as you have to use “so what you’re saying” it means that you’ll say the exact opposite of what I said.

So explain you self better because referring to Shiites as heretics gives that impression.

What is your point then?

You already asked that komrad. The only thing stronger than your whataboutism is your blind eye.

The things you say make no sense. You’re talking about China and Russia trying to establish a new currency called the Petro, meanwhile I mention that Venezuela came up with something under the same name and your reply is

So what the hell are you talking about? I’m not blind, I just don’t know what I’m looking at.

Not saying we back the Sunnis, but gassing your own people is considered a crime against humanity.

And since we’re making the equivalency between the US and Syria, please post a link with the time or times the USA bombed it’s own civilians with cyanide gas.

And don’t give me that Hiroshima Nagasaki bullshit because I can easily bring up The Rape of Nanking and Unit 731.

You asked “what has Assad done that the US hasn’t?” Show me where the US bombed it’s own citizens with barrel bombs full of cyanide.

Since you are pro-Syrian regime, do you support Assad gassing his own people?

What about when they backed Saddam while he was gassing people?

I’m not pro-Assad, I just think he’s better than the alternative. Does Libya look like a success story to you? And in any case, the allegations of Assad using chemical weapons are quite likely bullshit and nothing more than an excuse for foreign involvement.

Assad was responsible?

No, learn to read.

Interesting that you would give Assad a pass. I figured as much.

Why do you feel that it is necessary to behave like an obnoxious asshole? You are bringing up events that are totally irrelevant to the discussion.

So we should just let CNN do the thinking for us instead?
