Nice Tricep day! Lots of PRs too.

NOTES: Good day. Rough DB MP PR. Laterals and rear delt work burned! Crazy 8’s was nuts! Great pump. Solid day overall.

wow dude you’ve come a long way

Lol at the DB rolling off at the end of your rack chins. Good work still going on up in here. I’d be mindful of the ‘depth’ of your DB MP. Could’ve lowered it a bit more, but as you said the set was rough.

Pete - thanks man, that means alot!

AC - ya i laughed myself when it happened, haha. yeah…i aim to hit 90 degrees with my elbow, where I feel a good stretch in the shoulders, my right side was a little high, left side seemed to hit it everytime though. Not really a fan of db mp’s honestly lol. Might just start alternating MP and Push press…

Fair enough  I haven’t really done much DB pressing, but I definitely love MPing and push pressing.

I don’t see the point in doing your weighted rack pullups…its not a chin because your hands aren’t supinated…If you can’t perform normal bodyweight pullups/chins then you should be focusing on them, not some exercise that allows you to do more reps because you’re pulling less weight (having your feet on the bench) and then adding a DB in your lap…

  1. That is the name of the exercise…a rack chin, sure it may not be technically correct but that is what it is called.

  2. Im not doing it for an ego boost, which is what you seem to be getting at.

I do pullups for a ego boost? No…because I know that it works better than some half ass exercise, that’s all.

I don’t see why people get so defensive, if that’s the name of the exercise then you should know the difference between a chin and a pullup, and all I was trying to imply is that attempting actual pullups will have greater results than that exercise.

“not some exercise that allows you to do more reps because you’re pulling less weight (having your feet on the bench) and then adding a DB in your lap…”

…the whole ego thing Im referring to is based off of the comment above

Anyone who trains seriously should know the difference between a chin up and pull up. I dont know where the name came from, nor does it really matter to me. I just know that is what the exercise is called, wrong or not. Doing rack chins I get a much greater lat stretch which I can feel more so than doing normal pull ups or chin ups. As for getting defensive…try to word your posts a bit better.

How do you feel it more when it’s a easier exercise? And don’t say its not easier because it is, hence the feet on the bench which subtracts bodyweight that you have to pull up.

@Hintonshawn: I think if you would’ve phrased what you said earlier differently you would’ve gotten a different response. Saying, “What’s the reasoning behind doing rack chins instead of pull ups” instead of saying, “I don’t see the point in doing your rack pullups” probably would’ve gotten a different reaction.

Could care less whether it is “easier” or not. You feel it more because in that situation, your lower back is rounded. This innately stretches your lats more. As compared to the conventional pull up or chin up where you lower back is neutral or arched.

You talk about “feeling it more” yet all your videos you have posted and the ones I have watched, your form is horrible and you are just jerking the weight or not even doing full complete reps, or even half reps in some cases (DB shoulder press…)

You might as well have just copy and pasted your other post from about a week or so ago.

You talk about “I don’t see why people get so defensive” yet all your comments you have posted and the ones I have read, your comments are negative and you are just clogging up peoples logs or getting into arguments back and forth.

Thanks for dropping in!

Yeah they’re negative because we have out of shape fat lards like yourself who think they are gods greatest gifts to the weight lifting world but yet don’t know jack shit, your welcome for me dropping in too.

Oooooo that hurts. Seriously, thanks for dropping in! =D

Anybody want to vote this post of Hinton’s as post of the year?!?!

Fuck you, seriously, where does he come off as implying that he is “gods greatest gift to the weight lifting world”? The only one who seems to think that on this thread is you.

All you are doing is repeating some “rule” that you read in an article. Why should he be focusing on doing normal body-weight pullups/chins? Are normal body-weight pullups/chins important to be able to do and theoretically a better exercise? Probably, sure. But, really, why is it such a crime to do what you believe is working for you? Why the fuck does it matter to you?

You are the problem here, not him. If there were fewer ignorant fucking drones repeating pseudo-scientific “rules” and “facts” without ever thinking critically about the statements they are making then the weight lifting world would be a lot better.
