Hey Dan! Well done Bro. I posted my pics and vids, from the Beckwith, on the over 35 forum, and my profile. Your a hell of a lifter, when you coming up to Allegan to train with us old guys? Dave
Nice lifting and good video, good meet form on all of those lifts. I thought your opener looked a bit heavy on the bench, you can fix that next time around. You may know this already but just FYI you can’t wear wrist straps in 100% Raw.
Also I used to deadlift similar to you with a wider stance, but someone suggested I move my stance in early on in my career and it helped me out (the logic is you don’t have to lift the bar as high) so I will pass that on to you, take about 4" in on each foot and it might help you out.
Good luck with the raw meet in October, looks like you have a lot of potential and a raw squat of 550 or so at 198 is pretty rare.

Are you sure that logic is correct?

Absolutely. In a conventional deadlift your hands are wider than your legs. So if your legs are wide, then your hands are wide. The wider your hands are the higher you must lift the bar (think snatch grip vs regular to see the difference). So if you bring your stance in, you bring your hands in, which decreases the distance the bar must travel.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were comparing Sumo (wide stance) vs Conventional (narrow stance) and stating that the Conventional was a shorter pull. After watching the video again, I see he was pulling conventional with a wider stance, and therefor a wider grip.

Dave, good to see you guys at the last meet again and good to hear from you on here. I’d really like to get up there with you “old guys” hah real soon to get some training in. Do you guys have set times during the week you train? let me know and i’ll plan something around school and work.

Tim, I appreciate the advice on the dead lift. I’ll play around with the stance a little bit and see how that goes.
I agree with the bench opener as well. I always think my bench is better than what it is and I need to make smarter jumps on it.
Good luck with it - I think you have a lot of potential. I hope you enjoy lifting with 100% Raw, perhaps we will compete together sometime soon? Take it easy
i just pre ordered the new gojira album hehe
