That was kick ass. Videos are very cool.

You have more balls than most men on this site.
Like others have said - I was leaning in my chair to help you. That Viking press looks like a bitch.
Great job. And I don’t mean that like “lost 5 pounds” great. You’re doing shit - not talkng about it.
We need more jillybops here at T-Nation.

Uh, what he said x2! Balls out to the world! I think all of us reading this thread are all super motivated and want to go pull a truck now. You rock chica! ![]()
Thanks again, guys!
I’m looking at maybe doing another contest in December - Paxton Strongman 4. Events are as follows:
-
Log Clean & Press for reps (clean each rep)
60 Second time limit
Weights: Women - 110 lbs -
Wheelbarrow Deadlift
60 Second time limit
TBD -
Frame Walk ( handles are 36" apart and 16" high)
60 Second time limit
50 ft course. Frame will be carried 25 ft then dropped and carried back 25 ft
Weights: Women - 350 lbs -
Sandbag Carry
60 Second time limit
200 ft course with 1 turn.
Weights: Women - 125 lbs -
Keg Load to 45" platform (5 kegs)
60 Second time limit
Weights: Women - 100, 125, 150, 150, 200 lbs
I’m not sure if I am able to do all of the above, but I will start training for it and see how I’m doing once I get closer. I’ve got 4 months, but limited equipment. I hope to get more stuff to train with (log, kegs, sandbag). It’s exciting to have something like this to train for!

Hi Jilly, we are probably from the same area because Sandy was my trainer too. I think 2001-2003 I was with her. What a small world. She kicks some serious butt compared to the other trainers around. (^:[/quote]
Small world! Yes, Sandy is awesome. I’m so glad she was my first contact for all this stuff.
And it will start cooling down soon up there, so training should be a little easier, I would think anyway…
I couldn’t imagine training for that stuff with how hot/humid it has been this summer!

Wow this one sounds cool too. The one that would kill me is the log press. Any pressing I find difficult. I can push press 105 with a barbell but I couldn’t do 95 with a log press.
So how are you feeling now? I felt good for a while afterwards just for having finally competed at something.
Update! Just found out the truck pull was 25,000lbs, not 12,000 - now I feel even more studly! ![]()
I finally started feeling less sore on Weds and had hockey that night. I got 2 penalties (I was framed!) and everyone said it was the strongwoman stuff going to my head LOL!
I’ve noticed a slight shift in my confidence since doing the contest - I feel more confident, strong and capable. It’s cool.
Jilly,
Thanks for sharing those videos and insights. Good luck with training for your next event. I know you will do well. I wished they had things closer around here. Not so much to compete, but it would be nice to cheer some of you on. I think it helps.
Stay strong!!!

Just saw this thread and wanted to say this is awesome, congrats!!
Hope you had fun. Strongman stuff is a blast, it’s also much more enjoyable than doing cardio on a bike ![]()
Monopoly
Jilly !!!
You are such a badass. When did you start training for this event? How long were you training for it?
I want to train for a Strongman as well…
You can PM me if you want.
I woke up and couldn’t sleep. Your videos are keeping me awake now, I was rooting for you.
Time for some chemical…uh, sleep assistance ![]()
Jilly you fricken rock. The vid’s are awesome, your preformance was even better, and the trophy, well its just over the top cool.
Keep us posted on your training and preparation for your next event.
Hey I noticed you play hockey from your pictures. Where do you play? I play for a women’s B team in Jersey.
Thanks for the nice comments, everyone ![]()
dpapa, I also play for a women’s B team outside Boston. I played college hockey at RIT, asst coached the local HS girls team for a few years and now just play for fun. I love playing now probably more than I ever have. (maybe just to get out of the house!)
Hey Jilly- I was just reviewing your videos again!
I posted a thread in Strength Sports…hope to get your input! ![]()
Hey Jilly, I was just watching your video of the home made viking press. You are smart lady. Pretty cool thinking ![]()
Good job, Jilly! Don’t be too harsh on yourself–you put yourself out there and gave it all you had, which is more than most people have done…including me!
Now let me be nitpicky: when you were doing the Odd Object Lift, you were using your back to lift them off the ground instead of your legs. You know better than that! ![]()
