My First Cut

I respect that, and I respect that you are straight forward with it as well. I’ve had people say something along the lines of the ab statement to me as well. I used to try and explain and it made me so frustrated. Now I just smile and let it go. In my opinion strength is never gonna get me far with girls or looking good, but that’s not why I do it. That’s why I started but I fell in love with the progression and training methods of training for strength but at the same time the muscular development of a bodybuilding approach. So I think for now I’m gonna take them both as far as I can and then eventually branch off into one. At this moment it sure seems like it will be a strength based approach. I do want to look good, I’m not afraid to admit that, but I guess it just depends on my own personal goals. I try not to let others opinions of me affect my goals although admittedly it can be difficult sometimes. Nothing is more discouraging then people comparing you to some skinny kid with abs and thinking that you know nothing compared to him. I’m not putting you in that category obviously, just venting hsha.
LOL i know exactly what you mean about the “people comparing you to some skinny kid with abs and thinking that you know nothing compared to him.” oh god that hit me right in the feels!

as for a caloric reduction, the slower you “cut” (as it were) the less muscle you will lose… so keep that in mind. I wish i had taken longer with shelby because it would have been WAY easier and i wouldnt have lost so much muscle…
Yeah, sounds like yours was extremely drastic.

Are there any pics around here from your cut/contest? Curious as to your results with Shelby and on such a drastic cutting program.

i see.

i used to feel a similar way… but after a distinct lack of gratification i decided to go for “looking good”…

people (girls especially) just dont understand strength… AT ALL… unless they are really into training themselves (which most people aren’t)

i could move a considerable amount of weight in each lift, but all that people saw (girls especially) was a “fat wide guy with big boobs and forearms”…

i actually had a girl ask me, “if you’re so big and strong, why can’t i see your abs?”

that was basically the turning point lmao… i switched from primarily lifting for strength to primarily lifting for looks… i didnt even have to get injured first
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to offend any bodybuilders, but I have to ask, why do you give a fuck what other people think?

I mean yeah, I don’t want to be the “fat powerlifter” either, but you can still be strength focused at much lower BF%…

I don’t lift for anyone except myself and I mainly do it now because I enjoy it…but I’ve always been interested in pushing the body to its limits, be it strength, speed, endurance, etc…

I don’t even have impressive numbers (325/405/475) and I’ve gotten multiple comments from people about being “strong.” Granted, I don’t think a single one of them has been for a girl, but when you’re only lifting for your own gratification it is nice to get positive reinforcement from others. I don’t see how no one commented on your strength unless you didn’t lift at a gym or came across as being really unapproachable.

the guys comment on my strength, and tell me that i “intimidate the girls with my size”… that’s literally what ive been told about 4-5 different girls at my university… complete horeshit

a couple girls stopped what they were doing to watch me do a set once… and then said “whoa” after i was done… lol

to be perfectly clear… i want to really big yes, but lean and aesthetic as well… something like 225-230 stage weight at 5’9 would be decent and healthy IMO

anyhoo there’s my before and 13 weeks in to my 16 week transformation because someone asked for it

Looking good. Your lats looks a little uneven, but that might be your posing.

225-230 at 5’9" and lean? Gotta ride the bike everyday for that.

Weight stayed the same last week so I dropped 200 each day. I’m at 3500 training days and 3100 non training
