Her stance is a bit wide and her grip is a bit narrow, both probably the result of not having enough dynamic flexibility in the hips and ankles to pull from and catch lower. Drop-Squats should help with this, along with deep front squats.

Good feedback on the snatch. (you just can’t hear that enough can you)
I’m not pushing out through my shoulders either. The wide stance is habitual from back squats. I have a wider than average stance. First time doing it (snatch that is). I fell lucky I didn’t smash any teeth out. Any other feedback?

Makavali, if I could give her to you, I would.
But I would probably have to pay more money than I can afford, so that options out.
I’ve got a bottle of BCAA’s with your name on it. All you have to do is drop by and pick them up in the next month or so.

For the record, I do not consider myself well-trained in Oly Lifting. Just an amatuer whose watched a bit of youtube. Many people can give you far better advice in the Strength Sports section, although they will ask for a video and will probably tell you repeatedly to get proper coaching from a (wait for it…) coach.
However,
Main things to help would be widening your grip (from what I’ve seen, there’s usually only two-three inches between the bar at lockout and the top of the lifter’s head) and getting comfortable in a low-squat position. Particularly the latter.
When most people attempt to snatch or clean, they can’t get the weight up high enough, and their attempt to drop under includes widening the stance. It’s quicker and it’s an easier neural path, because your body is not practiced in dropping down on it’s haunches… quickly… with weight.
But it limits the total depth you can acheive, therefore making you have to move the weight higher. So learning to drop under is very effective in increasing your lift. Also, it makes it safer, because it allows for a longer amortization phase (catching the weight and bringing it to a stop).

You mean mad “TV watching skills” and not “Mad TV” watching skills, right?
Because if not, you need to stop watching Mad TV.[/quote]
Steward would disagree!
