I just came across this debate with Wafa Sultan, a Syrian pyschologist who appeared on Arab TV. Simply amazing to hear her speak like that, and even more surprising to hear that it was broadcast. Especially relevant with what is going on in the Middle East right now.

I have seen more bigotry and ignorance from you than I see from most of the religous right guys that post here.
That was extremely interesting to listen to and I agree with much of what was said by the woman. But this is not a be-all-end-all position for everything that is going on in the Middle East. It had more to do with sociology and religion than international politics.

I agree with you that what she said was not the be-all-end-all. However, I see sociology and religion as inextricably connected to politics.

They certainly are, but more so on a domestic level than an international one. When you get into the area of international relations, there are many historical precedents which require consideration. These topics are not addressed in a sociological context. Geopolitics and such.

Wrong. Religion comes into play in international politics.
There are a few wars going on right now with a huge religious component.
