Muscle Milk Puts Me to Sleep

I tried some of the muscle milk that comes in the prepackaged
drink boxes- it knocks me out.

I have tried it both post workout, I know its not formulated for that, but its convenient and I have tried it at other times in the day.

But it really makes me want to take a nap- no thats fine at night.
but not during the day. Its not fatigue from the work out and I am
ready to go to sleep.

is it the heaviness of the shake?
anyone else have this happen?

thanks

How much sugar is in there?

Muscle Milk only has 16 grams of carbs and 5 of them fiber…12 grams of fat (I think)…I dont see anything in there that could put you to sleep.

If you are really curious as to why, you could always get your blood sugar tested. (I am not implying he has diabetes so dont anyone even go there)

My blood sugar is ok, I had some blood work done in the past few months.
but thanks for the advice.

It does not actually put me to sleep, but it does make me very drowsy.

I had the same problem. You probably have trouble digesting it. I would switch to BCAAs, which helped me a lot. Or maybe try Pea Protein.

thanks, I was guessing it was me-
Maybe I need to check into lactose intolerance
or casein intolerance.

I can do dairy so I was curious

I will look into pea protein.
I have had BCAA on the list for a while.

maybe its the the tryptophan in it, milk has a decent amount of it in it so muscle milk is really made with milk then that might be your answer

I can’t believe people buy those premade drinks. You really think that protein is high quality after sitting in water for weeks or even months?

Another downside to most premade protein shakes is that if they are milk based (as most are) they have to go through heat treatments to be legal for sale, which damages the protein.

Get a shaker cup and make your shake right before you drink it.

Shit I wish it put me to sleep instead of in the john with explosive diarrhea

last year i worked retail the day after thanksgiving, so i had to be in this store for 12 hours.

Clearly i was gonna need protein, so at the last second i just bought 4 musclemilk shakes and drank them all over the course of the day.

I just ended up 5 pounds lighter and dehydrated from massive diarrhea, i thought i was dying.

Oh, and the entire backroom smelled awful.

Do you find drinking Muscle Milk to be extremely boring? That could be what’s putting you to sleep.

Theres no milk in muscle milk-its lactose free

I bet there’s no muscle in it either. What a stupid name.
