when starting gear, how far would one push there raw numbers?
I wouldnāt even look at it like that.
Iād start with some loose gear thatās not too difficult to put on.
From there I would work up to some triples on squats raw, hit a good set of 3 / RPE 8.5-9, add 10% in weight, then do a few sets of 3 in briefs.
For the shirt I would work up to a solid triple ( RPE 8.5 ) then work on air board triples in the shirt on the same breath ( so hold air for 3 reps ) going up in weight until you hit a solid weight for 3. The first few times you should be hitting around an air board of 2-1 height. Thatās just to get you adjusted to the extra weight and everything. If itās a really loose shirt you can probably work up in triples until you touch.
Deadlifts there really isnāt a whole lot too it, as long as you can get to the bar youāre good to work.
Edit:
After about 3 weeks of this you should be damned near touching in the shirt, and squats should be solid, Iād probably go ahead and throw in a full gear day straps down reverse band to a hard set of 3, working on depth.
Work a hard set of 3 in the shirt trying to touch. ( should be heavier than the past few weeks )
Do a raw week
Repeat the cycle but instead of just 10% try 20% when adding the briefs. For the shirt keep things the same, keep working on touching but go from solid sets of 3 to hard sets of 3.
Do a raw week then hit a straps up reverse band squat for a hard double. Working on depth.
Shirted bench max double should be touching for sure.
Hey what size and fit of boss did you get and how do u like them under the LUP?
Honestly I hate the LUP.
I did go Boss Brief Wide Stance size 46. I really like the briefs.
Whats your current BW
220 but leg size is going to play an important factor
Iām thinking I will just go up to 220s anyway but I didnāt know if I should get 44s or 46s. You wouldnt happen to know your thigh measures
Iāll check tonight and get you more info
My measures around the knee is 22 and 25 around mid and 27 around the widest part of the upper thigh.
Iām about 26 where the edge of the briefs sit on my quad.
Are you an experienced gear lifter?
I have a year of experience but I donāt consider myself an expert by any means
how high do they sit on your quad, like comparable to where the LUP sits?
A little higher.
If youāve got a year of experience iād say 46s will probably be pretty snug. Order the 48s, if they are too loose send them back and get the 46s and stretch the legs out. Whatās your hip measurement?
Depending on that 46 might not work at all. 48s fit my quads great but the hips were too big.
hips are 40
Really appreciating the help
46s will fit the hips great. 48s I think are going to have too much material on the hips bunching up.
Seems like 46s where you stretch the legs with a jack or something would be the best option, Im slowly breaking my 46s in vs stretching but might end up having to do a little stretch.
This is for the regular boss not the super boss and itās also not for the old boss.
The new regular boss and super boss are all grid stiched, older boss briefs werenāt grid stitched and sizing was slightly different.
How much carryover do you get out of them?
Thatās a great question.
Not entirely sure,Iāve been in gear so long the movements iām doing donāt compare at all to my raw days.
I do know i get more out of the Boss than my ACE gave me ( in theory )
Ok thanks, how long does it take for you to get into them?
Takes me 5-10 minutes to get fully seated into my briefs. Takes 10-30 depending on how pumped/swollen/bloated my legs are to get them off.
The key to quick on is suit slippers, baby power and a carpet puller.
I hang a carpet puller on a jhook, loop my briefs into the puller, then work my hips down. I move the jhook higher and higher while doing front, back, sides of the briefs.
Works a lot easier when youāre solo, if you have shit shoulder mobility ( like me ) you need someone to hook the back in once you get high enough.
