That’s exactly why I believe that gun ownership is not for everybody.
See above story being discussed for three great examples.
There is also that.

“You guys”. I don’t even own an AR15 pal. I know this is how people talk on the internet, but this is beneath you.
“Lock and Lube…!”
lolz!
I dunno, I haven’t tried using Hoppe’s #9 on it yet, there’s still hope!
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes…
Guy was an uber driver who made a wrong turn… Not intentionally driving through a protest. If you see a beat up pickup truck with a log for a front bumper and a cage on the windshield, then it’s probably driving through the protests on purpose.
A little sad, but a little funny too… Play stupid games…
No, brandishing outside of imminent threat is not legal. And it’s dumb. And stupid does happen everywhere, but in these BLM riots, it’s been the left.
Forgive me for stereotyping, but people center to right, tend to be trained at least some and tend to know the laws better. Usually, a right-winger shoots with intent.
Walking around in a “protest” with you gun at ‘ready’ is super unwise. However, armed protests do tend to be more peaceful…
I don’t either, I think a 12 gauge is more effective in more situations anyway. AR15’s are overrated in the consciousness, especially of non-gun owners. Great weapons, but not “battlefield” weapons. AK47 is way more effective “crowd control”.
Shotguns give you the most versatility. You can do lethal or non-lethal, but it basically sounds the same either way. They aren’t the most sexy, but they are the most effective problem solvers. I’d say high capacity rifles are second, but you have to be accurate. Further, the .223 is just too small. .308 or bigger for problematic situations are preferable. AR10!
What is beneath me?
Looking at two sides of something?
You have no idea about the motives or intent of the guy in the car but you really seem to want it to support “Good guy with a gun stops bad guy” narrative. Because this sure as shit wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen a guy with a gun start some shit, cock sure that he can finish it.
Not stopping to think, Guy with AK was also pushing his wife in a wheel chair. Maybe he couldn’t get out of the way in the time the guy who killed him thought he should, which may be what created the confrontation.
Or that another guy there who saw it go down shot at the guy in the car.
But hey! Good guy with a gun, right?
The facts of that case, as far as i can tell are as follows:
Driver was active duty army from Ft Hood driving uber in Austin on his time off to earn a few extra bucks. After dropping off a client he turned down a street that teed into the street protestors were visibly marching on. In recent SM posts he had said about BLM “Send them to Texas we will show them why we say don’t mess with Texas.”.
The driver continued and then turned onto the street with the protesters fairly aggressively. From the video i saw he continued driving at a crawl through the crowd nudging people out of the way for a short moment. A crowd quickly formed around him, people began pounding on the car and the guy with the AK ran up to the car motioning to roll the window down with the rifle. The driver did, apparently then feared for his life and fired 5 times striking the other guy 3 times (i believe). Someone in the crowd who had a CCL handgun then fired 3 times at the car striking it a couple times. The car sped off as a brick was thrown at the car and the crowd scattered.
If my memory serves me, the lawyer for the driver released a statement basically saying that it was textbook self defense and that the driver had every right to drive on that street as he was obeying traffic laws.
*edit for the correct quote.
There’s a good guy with a gun!
Internet tough guy rhetoric comes to IRL. Texas tough guy shoots fellow Texans.
And we have an interview with the dead guy, made minutes before he was shot, talking about how much of a bad ass he is and how he would show anyone who dared who was boss.
And he should be charged because he could have killed someone.
I mean, don’t stand in the street trying to stop traffic, gesturing with a rifle?
The guy is using the road for its purpose…Driving.
Folks aren’t so keen to be pulled out of vehicles and rendered unconscious. Or dead.
Is anyone actually pressing charges against the driver for supposedly hit and run?
This is why these protests are full of shit and unproductive. Aren’t the protests about ending violence? Aren’t the protests supposed to be peaceful? Why bring a gun?
Then you have that black militant group who ended up shooting themselves. What a bunch of morons. What are they trying to say? What’s the message? They’re going to start shooting at cops who, most likely, are doing their job arresting the murderers, rapists and thieves in their neighborhoods? How about instead of marching down the street sending some outdated militant message, you march down your own crime ridden streets and deal with the criminals yourselves if you hate the cops so much? The people bringing guns to these protests are all children emotionally and intellectually.
Haha from the other thread “just because its legal to do, doesnt mean you should be doing it”. If you watch the video, its pretty obvious (at least to me), that the driver was not trying to avoid conflict with his actions despite them appearing to be legal.
And i dont think anyone is pressing charges against the driver for hit and run. I doubt any accusations would stand up in court.
More importantly, the idiot with an AK didn’t do anything to avoid conflict and he, being armed, should have had that as his number one priority. It’s pretty hard to resolve a conflict safely when you appear, on purpose, as an armed aggressor.
We don’t need reason anymore.
We have rights!
Lets not forget that a car is a deadly weapon. Someone driving into a crowd of protesters with mean intentions was a very real possibility, and for a second there that looked like it might be the case.
My guess is that the guy with the AK thought he was doing the right thing by stopping (at gunpoint) the driver from driving through the protest and running people over. My guess is that the driver wanted to make a statement by aggressively turning into the protesters, but was legitimately and rightfully scared for his life by the guy pointing the AK at him so he responded in self defense.
It’s stupid. And I include the Michigan protestors in that.
As dumb as bringing your gun to a bar IMO.
But Muh Rights!
Obviously, I agree.
Just because one has a right doesn’t mean it needs exercised.
