Moving to California

I want my ashes tossed out along Highway 1

OG:

Did you know the long, famous intercontinental highway in Australia was modeled after Hwy 1 of California? (trying to impress you here)

Seriously, though.

I did not know that! I am suitably impressed.

Why is there an interstate highway in Hawaii?

Is it like Christmas everyday, day after day after day? Is it like rafting on a nice slow river with no whitewater and no bends in the river?

Wow, what an exciting life!

HH? You do know there is a Northern and Southern California right? And that even in San Diego we have elevations that get snow. Although that isn’t a selling point for me.

California is the state with the most diverse topography in the nation. It does have something for everyone.

We have mountains (with and without snow), desert, swamp, beach, forest, grassland, farm land, tropics and dangerous city. Something for everyone.

Now, now, OG; HH is not interested in facts. Keep to points which he can turn into broad generalizations, please.

Sounds cool! Had a job offer from a private school in La Jolla once…maybe I’ll call 'em and see if they’ve got a spot for me.

Hey, we’ll be neighbors! Hi neighbor!!

Well if you have to live somewhere in San Diego, La Jolla would be the place.

If you can afford it. Isn’t it insanely expensive there?

I remember walking around one night with a friend and taking picture of the house of the Albertson’s founder. It was gorgeous! Then, we saw a few flashes above our heads; our picture was being taken, too. We ran.

They give you a place for free. All you pay is the phone bill.

My wife is a tenured prof though so you fine folks in Cali are safe from the HH. ;D

La Jolla lives up to its translated name (The Jewel).
My wife and I visited there back in '87 and we loved it… small morning earthquake and all.
