Movies You've Watched This Week?

Angels and Demons- didn’t really care for it. Was ok, but Da Vinci Code was much better

Surfer, Dude- Even though it has Matthew McConaghey, pretty good. Really chill, relaxing movie. He plays a surfer who is stoned the entire time, so pretty much himself. Woody Harrelson does the same. No real plot and it probably sucks, but I’m always inebriated when I watch this.

A Clockwork Orange- Classic, weird-ass movie. Again, good not sober.

Role Models- Funny sober or not. I think that role-playing thing might actually be fun.

Gone Baby Gone- I think Ben Affleck found his niche behind the camera writing and directing. His brother Casey is the superior actor- he did a great job in getting me to hate the guts of his character. I wanted to run him over near the end.

My Bloody Valentine 3D - They said it is the best 3D horror movie made to date…which is really saying something considering the competition was holding such gems as “Amityville 3D” which was by far the best horror film EVER made.

Back in reality, however, this movie is a great way to get a mild chronic headache which can come in handy for excuses to get out of work and/or school. I have found several other uses that will be going into my feature coffee table book entitled “My Bloody Valentine…the coaster for hot and cold beverages…and nothing brings the family together like a good frisbee throwing session”.

I, of course, will be working on that title but don’t you DARE miss this flick!!!

A distinction shared only by Empire Strkes Back and T2: Judgement Day, IMO.

Damn, that’s one hell of a statement bro! I will take your word for it and check it out. I am watching Hamburger Hill right now, and this is a great war movie. The cast in it is stellar. Plenty of guys who went on to become great actors including Johnny Depp.

Watched: Taken, Quantam of Solace and Pitch Black.

Taken was the uncut version, it rocked. Quantam was also very good. I like the way they kept Bond as a bad ass, ala Casion Royale. I wanted to see Pitch Black for years, and netflixed it. It was a bit slow, but enjoyable.

I watched Terminator: Salvation, and I have to say, the movie was pretty good. Went back to the action of T2, in my opinion. There was definitely no mention or anything of T3. Probably for good reason. DVD-wise, the last movie I saw was Taken. BAD ASS FLICK!!! Nuff said. I’m about to watch Miracle at St. Anna, and Daywatch/Nightwatch. Hopefully, those don’t suck.

Who were you quoting?

I was trying to quote you X, but for some reason it didn’t show up. Something is weird on my account, some of my posts aren’t showing up. Normal Tuesday I guess.

That’s what I thought.

I was joking. I thought the sarcasm was clear but apparently not. Only see that movie if you are depressed and are looking for something to push you over the edge so you can kill yourself successfully.

Amityville 3D sucked too just in case you were unclear on that.

I watched Sex Drive the other night, thought it was pretty funny, especially Seth Green. It was one of those typical road trip movies, a la Roadtrip, Eurotrip etc. It was actually funnier and better than i thought it would be. Definitely worth a watch, not as good as Role Models though.

Sounds damn near traumatizing.

The 3D in that movie made me cross-eyed after 20 minutes and I had to turn it off.

Watched Slumdog Millionare. VERY GOOD. Now I see why it cleaned house at the Oscars.

I forgot how fucking intense Aliens is, as I haven’t seen it in a few years. The last hour and 20 minutes of the film is pure, unadulturated action.

Agreed,

I think Aliens is very much underrated as far as an action movie, and Sigourney Weaver took it home with her badassery.

With all due respect, is it possible for Aliens to be underrated? It’s one of my favorite movies of all time. At the time it was released, it was amazing and I think it still holds up over the years. I can still watch that movie and get tense about the action.

I think it was one of the first examples of a sequel surpassing the original.

I say that because it’s rare that a sequel can live up to the original film. How many movie sequels suck compared to the original. I wish they would have done a prequel to develop the story about the alien ship and the origins of the alien from the first film. [/quote]

I agree. I can think of maybe just a handful of sequels that were as good, if not better, than the original. CrookedCrown mentioned two of them already. It’s pretty rare.

An Alien prequel would have been a much better idea than some of the sequels and AvP movies they did.

Check out how close we were to something along those lines…

I have to disagree with you on Quantum… I was really disapointed… I lost the feeling of a bond movie for me and felt too much like a bourne movie, which i dispise and will not go on a rant over…

Movies this week:

Blue Thunder
Gunhead
Conan
Star wars 4,5,6 (memorial marathon)
Bloodsport

I thought Quantum of Solace was decent, especially since past Bond movies had become so cliche and gimmicky that it needed more realism…which is what they did with it. He doesn’t need ball point pens that turn into hang gliders with lasers attached to the front. He just needs to be able to kick ass while pulling every fine ass within a 50 mile radius…all while wearing a suit.

…and yes, Taken kicked much booty.
