Movies You've Watched This Week?

well ever sense Age of Conan came out I must have watched Conan 5-6 times and even the 2nd one 2-3. I going to go home and watch Fist of the North Star

I saw State and Main a couple days ago. Fun movie. One hell of a cast too.

Finally saw Indiana Jones 4 over the weekend, it was okay, but definitely the weakest of the franchise.

Last night I saw Battle Royale. Really awesome flick. Remember that movie that came out a couple of years ago about the condemned prisoners who get put on a deserted island to fight it out to the death? Well this is the original Japanese version, except instead of prisoners, it’s a class of 9th grade school children. Sounds awful, but it’s actually really funny and enjoyable to watch. The japanese have a strange way of blending the horrible with the sweet and sappy. I’d give it 5 stars.

Are you talking about The Condemned with Stone Cold?

Kind of, but this is the original Japanese version. Here is a review from The Onion AV Club: http://www.avclub.com/content/feature/the_new_cult_canon_battle

So far this week I’ve watched:

Conspiracy - A terrible, straight to DVD film starring Val Kilmer. You can skip this one.

I don’t remember if this was the one I watched awhile back. Is that the one that should have been called “Where’s the girl?!?!”.

Val Kilmer is a cool ass dude, but he sure is in a lot of crap.

Are you thinking of Spartan? In that one they are investigating the kidnapping of the daughter of some US Senator or something like that.

Yeah, don’t get Val Kilmer’s movie choices. He’ll do great in a movie like Tombstone and follow that up with crap for a few years.

I’ll have to check it out. I should have known better that The Condemned was based off a better, Japanese version.

Yes! That’s the one. What a piece that was.

A lot of people didn’t like it, but I thought Red Planet was awesome. My Carrie Anne Moss fetish might have had something to do with that though…

Spartan was one of those bad movies that you immediately try to forget you watched as soon as you’re done with it.

I’m with you Red Planet. I didn’t mind that at all and Carrie Anne Moss is hawt! She was the reason I watched Memento in the theater, but Memento ended up being awesome.

School for Scoundrels - Ehhh…don’t waste your time. It was barely watchable.

Naw man. Billy Bob Thornton is ALWAYS cool. Straight up badass.

This week:

Be Kind Rewind - Not much to say really. It didn’t exactly suck, but I didn’t get anything out of it.

Deadwood S01 (TV) - I’m not that big of a western fan, but it’s amusing how bad these guys are. Timothy Olyphant is one of my favorite actors too. I’ll be watching the next two seasons.

Reaper S01 (TV) - The guy that plays the devil is great. Best part of the show for sure. Unfortunately I stopped watching it half way through the season. I just can’t stand how much of a pussy anti-hero the main character is.

Deadwood is bad ass! I resisted watching that for the longest time. My friends all told me it was great and I just kept putting it off. Once I watched the first episode though, I was hooked. I didn’t watch anything else until I finished all three seasons. The guys at Blockbuster were giving me shit cause every day I’d come in and grab the next DVD in the series.

I loved the first episode of Reaper (the one Kevin Smith directed). It was all downhill after that. Ray Wise as the devil was the lone highlight. I like Missy Peregrym, but she was just wasted on that show. The main character just bugged me, too. I would have thought it was cool to be in his position, not complain about it all the the time.

Night at the Roxbury
-Will Ferrel. I don’t know what else needs to be said.
Inside Man
-Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, and Judie Foster = great film.

Oh wow… Battle Royal is up there on my “Movies that fucked with my head the most” list.

I first watched in in 9th grade >_<

Awesome movie, though the ending is confusing and bit… disturbing.

Momento was awesome! One of the best plot twists ever.

Have you ever used the easter egg on the DVD to watch it forwards?

I had no idea. Not that I would have probably found it anyway…

I only found out about it because someone mentioned it to me. It’s a trip though when watching it forwards. Here’s a link on how to do it.

Very cool! I might Netflix it again just for this reason. Thanks!

Still good.
