Movies You've Watched This Week?

Saw a bit of The Rundown yesterday. Definitely a fun movie and The Rock and Sean William Scott worked great together.

I’ll always think of him as Stiffler, but I liked him in The Rundown and Bulletproof Monk.

They both took a turn for the weird in “Southland Tales”. That movie felt like it was 4 hours long and I was scratching my head the whole time. I think I want to see it again, hopefully I won’t be as confused.

Okay, good I wasn’t the only person that felt that way when watching Southland Tales. I just didn’t get it and it did feel like it was 4 hours long. I’m not sure I can sit through that one again if I missed the point.

I didn’t have much going on this weekend, so I caught up on some rentals:

The Air I Breathe - I just didn’t like this as all. It was all over the place and it felt like it was an hour longer than it really was.

Grace is Gone - This is a sad movie. If you’re a big John Cusack fan, you’ll probably like this more than I did.

The Walker - Woody Harleson sounded like he had marbles in his mouth for the entire film. This movie sucked.

Youth Without Youth - I couldn’t follow this movie at all. It reminded me a lot of Southland Tales. Neither movie I could tell what the hell was going on.

DDL can flat out act.[/quote]

That’s one of my favorite movies. After I watched it the first time on DVD, I immediately went back and watched the last 20 minutes of the movie over again…twice.

It’s finally coming out on Blu-Ray this week. I’ve been wanting to buy this one for a while now.

just saw the new Rambo movie, pretty good movie. Definitely worth watching.

amercian gangster was pretty good too.

I know I’ve posted this before, but:

“Milkshake” scene

“I’ve abandoned my child” scene - I could go on and on about this one. Freaken amazing.

Watched The Other Boleyn Girl yesterday.

Two thumbs up from me.

“Astronaut Farmer” - Entertaining.

“August Rush” - Great film. I must be the biggest wuss, because the happy ending made me tear up. Took me by surprise.

Those are both somewhere on my netflix list. I think they got buried beneath some new releases though.

Last Thursday I watched “The Return to House on Haunted Hill”. I didn’t think it was a terrible movie but I really didn’t feel like it was worth watching.

I also watched Cloverfield. I thought it was a very good movie even though I got a little motion sickness, which was distracting.

Watched Crimson Rivers. French Film staring Jean Reno post “Professional.” Subtitled but a pretty good suspense/murder flick.

Emplyee of the Month - SUCKED!

I thought the ending was a little to fairy tale-ish for me, but it still got to me a little. I thought it was good otherwise. I really loved all the guitar parts.

I watched Weirdsville last night. I actually thought it was pretty funny. There’s one scene that really made me laugh because it sounded like a conversation from these forums.

Gabriel - Wasn’t that great of a movie, but I like religious mythology. Some of the actors were cool too.

What Happens in Vegas - It was amusing, but to be honest I think I only laughed once.

Beneath - I totally don’t even remember this movie, and I saw it sometime in the last week according to my recent downloads folder. I think it’s safe to say it wasn’t very memorable.

Suspension - Movie about a guy that can stop time. It’s a really interesting concept to watch, but was not implemented very well.

MST3K: The Phantom Planet - Had some great lines, but not one of the best episodes out there. 7/10 as far as MST3K goes.

School for Scoundrels - Ehhh…don’t waste your time. It was barely watchable.

Jeremy Clarkson: Heaven and Hell - Just kind of a long drawn out episode of Top Gear. Watchable, but you can really pick up on the chemistry of the trio of Jermey, James, and Richard, and that it’s missing here.

So far this week I’ve watched:

Conspiracy - A terrible, straight to DVD film starring Val Kilmer. You can skip this one.

Nightmare Man - Another one from the “8 Films to Die For” collection. I don’t know why I keep renting these. They are suck on a sandwich. They all look like they were filmed with a handheld and are awful. This one is no exception.

Mama’s Boy - I was really hoping this one would be one of those comedies that takes you by surprise. It didn’t. It’s not funny and was a total waste of time.

Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show - Okay, now here’s a movie I liked. I’m really into stand-up comedy though, so I’m biased. It has its funny parts, but it’s not a solid 90 minutes of stand up, so don’t expect to be laughing the entire time.

The Golden Compass - I’m pissed this won’t get a sequel due to religious people being dickwads. It has armored polar bears fighting and ripping each other’s throats out! What more could one want out of a movie (other than a cool plot, endearing characters, and awesome acting, all things this movie has in spades).

I liked The Golden Compass too. It just bombed in the theater. The budget was $180 million and it only made $70 million in the US. That usually means you don’t get a sequel.

It is interesting to note that its Foreign gross was $300 million though. Because of it’s stronger overseas performance, New Line and the producers said the jury is still out on a sequel and they have commissioned for a screenplay.
