OK, what sucked about it to you?
“Zombies”? Check
Killings? Check
Gore? Check
The only thing it missed was a nude scene…and Dawn of the Dead didn’t even have one of those.

Agreed!

Picked up X-Men Origins - Wolverine today. My buddie just got done watching it, he said that the all the CGI stuff wasnt done yet. I’m going to watch it later tonight after I go to the gym.

The Game Plan - If anyone wonders why The Rock’s movie career hasn’t taken off, this movie is why. Disney apparently likes to kill action stars with bad family movies (see Vin Diesel). I still think The Rock can recover from this though. I thought he was good in Get Smart. I haven’t seen Race to Witch Mountain though.
For some reason I really like The Rock. I think he does a pretty good job in his movies. I enjoyed Walking Tall alot, and The Rundown in which he both played leading roles; and I thought he handled them pretty well. And he really cracks me up in Be Cool as the gay bodyguard. I’m dissapointed he isn’t in more films.
Same here. I really like the guy and I think he’s been really good in some of the earlier stuff he’s been in. He was hilarious in Be Cool. Right after Walking Tall and The Rundown he seemed poised to be the next big action star and then nothing happened. I blame it on The Game Plan.
I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, but considering the type of movie it is, can you really expect that much from it? It has Paul Walker in it, so that automatically means it can’t be that good. I do think Diesel made a mistake being in The Pacifier and it seemed that everything he had been in since then was progressively worse. I know a few here have joked that he was about a inch away from moving into straight-to-DVD territory with his future films.
Hoffman was great and I thought the movie was well done. I have to confess to knowing almost nothing about Capote going into the movie and I still found it interesting and engaging.

Flippin’ through channels, stopped at “Baby Mama”. Actually watched the whole thing.
It was kind of fun/stupid.

Yeah she does! I can’t remember the first time I noticed them. It might have been in an episode of 30 Rock, but she was wearing a skirt and I was like, “Damn! Who knew that she had calves like that?”

Lake City - Awful, boring ass movie that felt like it was about 3 hours long. The characters were terrible for the most part and it was a total waste of Sissy Spacek. It was kind of interesting to see Dave Matthews act, but that’s about it.

He’s also been in Where the Red Fern Grows and Because of Winn Dixie, if you’re looking for a Dave Matthews movie night with your nephews.

Anyway, it’s a terrible movie. I can see kids laughing at it, but it’s not entertaining for anyone else. I can’t believe Guy Pearce even agreed to be in this. He’s better than this.
After seeing the 45 second preview, I came to this same conclusion. You could of saved yourself some time :P
haha…come on, you know me. I have to watch everything. ![]()
That has to be one of the best endings ever!
CIA Superior: What did we learn, Palmer?
CIA Officer: I don’t know, sir.
CIA Superior: I don’t fuckin’ know either. I guess we learned not to do it again.
CIA Officer: Yes, sir.
CIA Superior: I’m fucked if I know what we did.
CIA Officer: Yes, sir, it’s, uh, hard to say
CIA Superior: Jesus Fucking Christ.

While there was no nude “scene” in Dawn of the Dead, there were two nude shots.
Why did I hate Quarantine? spoilers for those who haven’t watched.
-The cinematography and setting made everything feel claustrophobic to me. I know, that’s probably what they were going for, but I didn’t like it. My normal work days are in a little cube and a little car. While being entertained on my free time I want some breathing room.
-Not enough zombie killin. To build on that, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt no one was going to make it out of that building. With Dawn of the Dead, they were somewhat capable and there was a chance they could make it. That’s what kept me interested. When there’s no hope, it’s a buzzkill IMO.
Australia:
Some good parts, but it tried too hard to be another Pearl Harbor. There were like 8 places where the movie could have ended, but it just kept going. Not a fan of Nicole Kidman either.
Gran Torino:
Thought this was a great movie beginning to end, which is saying a lot because I’ve gotten really tired of the pointless movies coming out of Hollywood.
Training Day:
Not new, but pretty damn good. Denzel makes a great good/bad guy…it’s hard to tell which he’ll turn out to be.

OK…I admit to watching that movie about 4 times so far but stopping it before they get into that last room in the attic.
I also tend to stop Dawn of the Dead before the final credits end. I don’t like “no hope” endings much either…but the rest was fine to me.

Hmm. Didn’t you like The Descent? Well I guess that depends on which release you saw.
Quarantine was ok, worth a few “eek” moments, but nothing special.
No where near as good as DOD.

One can hope his acting has improved. Although I seriously doubt it. Paul Walker is one of the few that really stick out from trying so hard to act, they fail completly.

Yeah, there’s even something about his voice that just sounds off. Like he’s trying too hard to make his voice sound deeper than it is naturally. Either that, or he’s just dim.
Yes Man - While not as terrible as I was expecting, it didn’t deliver the funny either. It’s very bland and safe. I also thought the pairing of Zooey Deschanel and Jim Carrey was really odd, as he’s got almost 20 years on her.
Tales of Despereaux - Was just okay. The animation is fantastic, but as far as the story goes, it’s not something that I think will have much appeal to anyone but kids and maybe not even them. I just didn’t think it worked.

My brother put this on the other night and Christ… someone needs to tell Adam Sandler to stop doing that half-hearted, phony voice he does in every movie. If he ruins the upcoming Funny People, well… fuck.
Foot Fist Way - It was pretty obvious that Jody Hill only had an inkling of an idea with where to take the plot with this one. Danny McBride was hilarious as usual, although some parts you don’t want to laugh at.
Oh, and: the actress who played his wife is probably a whore in real life. She looked the part a little too well.

I’ll be PISSED if Funny People sucks, but have a good feeling that one will turn out fine. It has too good of a cast for a comedy and Apatow seems to have a better track record with the stuff he releases during Summer.

I’m really looking forward to it, especially since the Apatowian movies have such great chemistry. I also like what I have heard about it being a dramedy.
Is anyone else getting tired of seeing Seth Rogen in every other movie that comes out? I think the guy is hilarious, but the movies he’s in all have the same feel.
