Midnight Meat train.
Clive Barker is fucking insane. Get the unrated version…if you don’t have a weak stomach.

We must be on the same movie watching schedule this past week. I watched that Sunday morning, just haven’t bothered to post about it.
Nice and gory, but I didn’t care for the story much. My other issue with it was the use of computer generated blood in some of the scenes. It just doesn’t look right yet.
I watched Feast III last night and that also had the same problem.

Dude, I thought the blood was hilarious. I am sure they did that on purpose. I don’t know which version you saw, but the unrated contains all cut out gore scenes…and they really pushed it in some.
Where else have you seen someone get smashed in the back of the head…as one eye pops out…as the camera does a 360 degree swivel…with blood flying in all direction like fireworks?
I’ll watch it again with director’s commentary. LOL

That scene was hilarious!
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that a scene like that has to be done with CG, but I just still prefer the look of fake blood, even when they use a terrible looking prop for the shot.
SPOILER ALERTS!!!******
Like when he’s pulling the teeth and fingernails off that one victim, that was much more cringe inducing. I could see some people getting sick from watching that scene.
I also loved the point-of-view shot of that chick getting her head knocked off.
Pineapple Express= Total shit
Righteous Kill= Blah. Damn Pacino and Deniro are old.
Taken - Neeson is pretty bad ass. it’'s gloriously violent. lots of throat punching, next snapping, and vicious executions.
it kind of reminds me of Ronin in some ways; it’s a simple plot, set in europe, a wiley old ex-military man is the main guy, and it’s very well done.
The Lodger - Good cast. Boring movie. Tried to be too clever with the twist at the end and it just ended up being lame.
Hounddog - This is the controversial movie where Dakota Fanning’s character is raped. I thought the movie sucked. Just didn’t do anything for me. In fact, I got a real child molester vibe from the movie since it seems like Dakota Fanning is in her underwear for most of the movie. Combine that with the rape scene, I’m really wondering about what was going through the director’s head and who he was expecting to enjoy this film.
Changeling - Good movie. Kept me engaged despite the almost two and a half hour runtime. It’s easy to forget, because of some of the movies she’s been in and her off-screen life, but Angelina Jolie can act when the material is good. She shows that here.
Still Waiting… - It has it’s moments, but nowhere near as good as Waiting…. This would have been better if they could have brought back everyone from Waiting…. Instead we get some of the returning minor characters and only a few cameos from the main guys from the last movie. I never worked in a restaurant, so I might have identified with this better if I had.
Zach and Miri Make a Porno - SLAM DUNK! Admittedly I’m a big Kevin Smith fan, but then you add Porn and Star Wars and that’s pretty much the perfect movie trifecta. Funny movie and I really enjoyed it. Oddly enough, the movie gave me a completely different opinion of Justin Long. I might have to totally redraft my opinion on that guy. Brandon Routh also has a funny cameo in the film.
Choke - Movie was okay. Sam Rockwell was good as he usually is. He plays a really f-ed up character here, but I found him interesting. For those of you interested because the book was written by the same guy that wrote Fight Club, this is definitely no Fight Club.
Quarantine - Discussed this earlier. I liked it though. Very tense atmosphere in the second half of the movie. Basically it’s a cross between a zombie movie and Cloverfield, filmed with a better camera.
Midnight Meat Train - Also discussed earlier. I didn’t like the story and I’m annoyed by CG blood, but it did have some great, gory scenes in it. I can see people with weak stomachs having a hard time with this movie. I also didn’t like that Vinnie Jones only had like one spoken line of dialog in the whole movie. He sure does say a lot with facial expressions though.
Feast III - Not a good movie, but again, I think that’s the point of this. The directors seem to be going for ridiculous and campy here, as evidenced by some moments of hilarity (whether intentional or not). Still irritated with fake, CG blood in movies like this.
However, where else can you see a movie where a monster knocks a chick’s head off, immediately swallows the head whole, and then you get a POV look as the head passes through the monster’s digestive system and then is shit out. That’s actually a scene at the beginning of the movie.
There’s also one seizure inducing section that’s probably the worst use of a strobe light effect I’ve ever seen. It’s like they didn’t have enough money to film the whole scene, so they just took random pictures of the action and mixed it with complete darkness.
You really should watch the other Feast movies before watching this, or you won’t really understand why the movie starts where it does. Not that the movie makes a lot of sense in the first place.
Body of Lies - Crowe and DiCaprio are okay, but the movie is just average. This is another movie I’ve seen recently where some whip-smart agent type person drops his guard for a woman and starts making sloppy mistakes. It’s like you kick ass your whole career and make all the right moves, but the second you meet a chick, you get stupid.
Sin City (Extended Cut) - I’ve seen this plenty of times, but just felt like watching it again. If you’re a fan and haven’t seen the Extended Cut, you really should pick it up and watch it again.

I find this suprising as half the movies you post you don’t seem to enjoy all that much. Its a pretty damn funny movie at parts. The big black dude, makes it worth watching more then the Wayan brothers. Them in their selves are pretty shit. I remember The little man being one of the worse movies I have ever seen.
I watched 3:10 to Yuma again last night. I really like this movie. One of my favourites.
Oh yeah !!
Just walked in the door and She Say left me a note that we have a date next Monday…she got free sneak preview tix for Watchmen.
Friday the 13th Part 2
Step Brothers
Super Hero Movie
I just got finished watching Children of Men. This is now one of my favorite movies.

This movie was not what I expected it to be. Overall I thought it was very well done. I just don’t get why the head detective guy had that bad Irish accent. Or whatever accent that was. It really took away from his character for me. Didn’t think it was necessary.

Don’t you think that him “falling in love” was pretty integral to how the rest of the movie played out? I don’t think he made any stupid mistakes, if anything, he was willing to sacrifice himself for her. Which ended up being beneficial. Right?

What Pineapple Express was hilarious!
Righteous Kill was alright. Too predictable.

Yeah, but by him falling in love and that being integral to the movie it made it a been there done that formulaic movie. I thought DiCaprio’s character was unbelievable in that from the beginning he was portrayed as a top rate field agent, which to me means he’s a cold-hearted killer, but he’s constantly whining about people getting killed and then falling in love with the first piece of ass he stumbles across…
that’s the other thing, as a top rate field agent I’m expecting him to be a little more pragmatic in dealing with women…and it’s not like the woman in question wasn’t beautiful, but I never felt like she exhibited anything that would make him fall for her that hard…kinda like the guys posting in SAMA saying, “Oh I loves her we just met last week and she hasn’t called me after 20 texts, what shud I does?”
Sorry for the rant…agree to disagree…isn’t anyone going to admit they’re jealous I’m going to see Watchmen before everyone else???
Have you guys noticed the Mash-ups that Target has been selling?
Like “Romancing the Stone” and Jewel of the Nile in the same package for like 14 bucks? I think it’s cool.
Bought one of those last week, Gettysburg and Gods and Generals.
I’ve only got partway through Gettysburg, but I always nod in appreciation at the presence of Sam Elliots mustache.
Tropical Thunder…Ben Stiller ripped…What?

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Okay, I’ll admit a little jealousy. However, when you post to talk about it, please keep your comments limited to, “I liked it” or “I didn’t like it” please. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us. ![]()

Yeah, that’s just part of my act. ![]()
Seriously though, I think I tend to notice what I don’t like about a movie, or what’s wrong it it, more than what’s right or what I do like about it. As a result, my reviews sound negative and I play down how much I actually enjoyed it.
