Movies You've Watched This Week?

That’s funny, I just finished watching season 1 of The Wire based on a friend’s recommendation. I’m waiting for season 2 now.

I also recently watched all 3 seasons of Deadwood. I really loved that!

I also plan on seeing Indy 4 tomorrow as well as Prince Caspian. I took the day off work tomorrow, so going to catch up. :)[/quote]

Deadwood was fucking spectacular. I thought season 3 ended with a fizzle, but they didn’t know that the show was being dropped. I suspect if they knew it was the end they would have had a better final episode.

The wire is pretty great also, but they don’t have a character who’s on screen power equals that of Swearengen. Swearengen reminds me of Daniel Plainview in that he is frightening and funny and just awesome to watch.

Swearengen might be one of my favorite characters of all time! His exchanges with Bullock made that series for me.

I was disappointed in the ending too (I’m still pissed about Ellsworth), and I agree that it would have ended differently if they knew it was over after season 3.

Saw Speedracer at the theatre. I liked it, but the cones in my eyes are still burning.

I never, ever saw Seinfeld when it was on tv, but a friend of mine who has the first seven seasons on DVD loaned them to me; I’m catching up on all sorts of important cultural references. Mid-way through season seven. (This tune is new; it’s called “Hot and Heavy.”)

I HATE Seinfeld…most overrated show of all time. I fucking LOVE Curb Your Enthusiasm though.

Cliffhanger…I like all Stallone movies, but this was a lot better than I expected.

Tombstone… can never stop watching it.

Prince Caspian…pretty good for a kid’s movie. It reminded me of the last Lord of the Rings movie with the battle in the end.

National Treasure 2…awesome

Yeah, I’m still hungry for blood after what happened to Ellsworth. Fucking Pinkertons. Al took care of that cocksucker though.

I was disappointed that nothing happened to Hearst, but I guess the can’t completely rewrite history, can they?

I was also bummed that the movie fell though. I heard the cast was willing to do one, but the deal never got done.

I just finished watching:

National Treasure 2 - I thought it was a fun movie. I don’t have much else to say about it. I was hoping to be entertained and wasn’t disappointed.

High Tension - Whoever said this movie sucked in the Scary Movie thread was right. I thought this sucked ass. The first 20 minutes were pointless and the ending was stupid. It wasn’t scary at all, and if you’re reading OG, it was pretty gory. And not the good kind of gory either…the lame kind.

I shall be purchasing Dairy of the Dead tonight as well as NAtional Treaure 2(I enjoyed the first one)

I just pulled a double feature and got back from seeing:

Don’t worry, they are spoiler free.

Prince Caspian - Overall I liked it. I thought it was a little slow in parts and I felt that the FX almost took a step backwards in some parts.

Indy 4 - I thought this was a fun movie. Yes, it’s over the top, but it’s the good over the top that keeps you coming back for more. I was a little disappointed in a few things, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying it.

Running Scared. I loved it, but it would have been exponentially better if they had cut the last two minutes out.

Training day

Just saw Narnia: Prince Caspian yesterday. It was pretty good, way better than the first one.

I just finished watching Diary of the Dead, and all I can say is wow. Go rent it, the film is reminiscent of Blair Witch and Cloverfield without the shakey camera.

Over the last week or so i’ve made it through -

Revenge of the Nerds
Revenge of the Nerds 2
Once were warriors
Only the strong
Erik the Viking
Jabberwocky
Soldier

Yeah, it did have that kind of feel to it. I didn’t think it was scary at all though. I felt like the movie was more of a commentary about the media and even the internet, than purely a zombie flick.

I watched We Are Marshall last night. I liked it even though I can’t stand Matt McConaughey. Does he always talk out of the side of his mouth like that?

Note to all MST3K fans, The Sinister Urge is must see. One of the best. The short on hygiene before it is golden as well.

I caught about thirty minutes of Where Eagles Dare this afternoon before work. I haven’t seen that movie in years and was pissed I couldn’t see the whole thing, but I did get to see an awful lot of Nazis get killed.

Over the weekend I watched:

2 Days in Paris - I rented this on a recommendation, but I didn’t think it was good. Julie Delpy just annoyed me throughout the film.

Finishing The Game - I had a high hopes for this one. It a mockumentary about the casting process for replacing Bruce Lee when he died before they had finished Game of Death. It just wasn’t funny. It’s only 84 minutes long and felt like it was two hours. I think mockumentaries should only be allowed to be made by Christopher Guest and co.

I just picked up Rambo, which I’m going to watch later tonight.

NN brought up Philip Seymour Hoffman in the John Connor thread. He’s awesome! If you’re also a PSH fan and looking for some recent movies he’s been in, check out the following:

  • Charlie Wilson’s War - It’s just okay, but PSH is great in this.
  • The Savages - Good movie. Also stars Laura Linney.
  • Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead - Great movie. Good performances all around. This movie made me forget that I usually can’t stand Ethan Hawke.

I need to watch that one again. Some of those shorts they watched were classic!
