I saw a movie titled “Silk” it was a historical drama. The silk trade was interesting. It was set in China and France in the beginning of the 19th Century.
For the women, it’s a love story. For the guys there is killing and prostitutes.

I watched a movie called ‘Silk’ as well, only it was a thriller movie and that is the American title I guess. The real title is ‘Gui si’ and the plot is much different.
(Shadow- you’re on your own with the porn…just like normal ;o)

I did actually, I liked it…to the extent that I don’t regret the time I spent watching it anyway lol… So yeah, worth watching but not one I would put in a top pick shelf.
My top pick foreign movie wise would have to be Dead Mans Shoes, it has been for awhile now… haven’t seen a movie made recently that was better. I’d recommend this one before anything. Strong English accents in the movie though, so I don’t know it would be everyone’s cup of tea.

Ah, crap. And I was gonna be nice and let you watch it with me too. ![]()
My cable box got broken at my apartment so we cycle between Boondock saints, Anchorman, Jay and Silent Bob strike back, and a few other movies.
The House Bunny - Saw this over the weekend. Was pretty disappointed. The movie was the same tired old story about someone taking a group of unpopular misfits and then making them popular and ‘beautiful’. I really like Anna Faris and there were some funny parts, but it just seemed like all the good laughs were too few and far between.
The Love Guru - I wasn’t expecting much here. This movie is silly and harmless. I like Mike Meyers, but this just felt like he was recycling old shit. Again there are some laughs, but this doesn’t compare to his earlier stuff.
Speed Racer - Visually stunning, but the story was just okay. It felt very childish. I wasn’t a fan of the cartoon though, so take that for what it’s worth.
Made of Honor - I liked this movie better the first time I watched it when it was called My Best Friend’s Wedding or any of the other ‘let’s break up a wedding’ movies you’ve ever seen. Why does Hollywood try to romanticize breaking up a wedding? It’s not cool at all. Imagine if you were the other guy and some dipshit friend of hers that’s been pining after her for years finally decided to tell her on the day of your wedding. You’d punch him in his dipshit mouth. That actually happens in this movie though, which was it’s one redeeming quality.
Rock Star - Just felt like watching it again. Love this movie. Steel Dragon rulez!
The Wire: Season Two - This is quickly become one of my favorite shows. It’s just a great story.

I’ve got season one next on my queue. With the way people talk this series up, I’m pretty excited.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all.
I had a few people that has been bugging me for a while to give it a shot. I was resistant initially because I didn’t want get into another show and then have to watch it all.
It took two episodes to get me hooked…
…season three is shipping this week. ![]()
I watched very little tv this week cause school is killing me but I did get a chance to watch my favorite movie pulp fiction and about 3/4 of trainspotting haha, lots of good times and family fun

I’m the same way. I don’t watch TV much and for a long time I never followed any shows. Then, last year I decided to check out Heroes since both seasons were available to watch instantly on Netflix, and I got hooked. Now I can’t wait for the premiere tonight. Then, I decided to check out The Office. I got hooked on that, too and spent this summer watching all four seasons.
At least with The Wire, the series ended already and I can probably watch the whole thing before the new year.

Those are all good shows, so it’s easy to get hooked. I don’t have any of the pay channels myself, so those are the ones I usually miss out on. You hear enough people rave about them over time though and you feel like you’re missing out if you don’t try watching them at some point.
Like you said, the good thing about watching stuff that’s already over (Deadwood, The Wire, Rome, etc.) is that you can just power through each season while it’s fresh in your mind and there’s no waiting for the new season to start.
The only series I’m refusing to watch right now is Lost. Maybe once it’s finally all over, but I’ve heard way too many people complain of frustration with the plot to start watching it now.
…and x2 on being excited for Heroes tonight! I’ve been waiting for that one to start up again for a while now.
Resident Evil: Extinction - I didn’t expect much going in, but I thought it was actually pretty good. Nothing as far as plot goes, but a good action horror flick. The one thing I didn’t get(or don’t remember from the first two)is when did Alice get telekinetic powers? I was confused to say the least when she started going all Jean Grey on her BMW RGS. No idea where they were going with that ending…
I also watched the first three episodes of True Blood on HBO. I’m hooked.
The Counterfeiters
I really liked this movie, watched it last night. It’s the true story of the largest counterfeiting operation ever undertaken, operated by the Nazis at Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The work was done by camp inmates, graphics and printing specialists.
One of the counterfeiters, Adolf Burger, is now in his nineties and still travels and lectures about the horror of the camps and the Nazi era.
The movie won this year’s Oscar for best Foreign Language film (it’s in German with subtitles).
Heres the IMDB entry:

I watched Tremors over the weekend and thought this was a stupidly funny movie for some reason. Maybe it was the old 80’s acting or something, but thought it was mildly entertaining. Burt Gummer is classic.
Also saw The Ref too, which Dennis Leary does a good job in as well. Worth a rental or checking out on cable if its on.

Tremors is a badass flick! I love that movie. Pure campy fun. The squeals are shit though.

I watch that show too, it’s pretty interesting. I’ve always liked Anna Paquin.

I don’t have HBO, but I was able to see the first episode. Pretty interesting. I’ll be looking forward to the first season coming out on DVD, whenever that is.

I’ve always loved The Ref. I think that’s the first movie I ever saw Kevin Spacey in.
Rose: You’re a “Wong”?
Gus: Well, my mother was Irish.
Rose: And your father?
Gus: Wasn’t.

How about…
Gus: Whats the matter with you lady? Mother’s are supposed to be nice, and sweet, and understanding. I have known loan sharks nicer then you. Your husband ain’t dead lady, he’s hiding.
