Movies You've Watched This Week?

Army of Darkness was on TV last night. Groovy.

Doomsday- This is the typical movie about near apocolyptic Britain dealing with some major plague. It does have the smokin’ hot Rhona Mitra as the heroine so it gets a thumbs-up from me just for that.

Meet Bill- P.O.S. movie with Aaron Eckhart, who I’m a big fan of, as an overweight loser who goes through some lifestyle changes with the help of a teenager he’s mentoring.

The story was really weak and lacked any type of edge. They should’ve made Eckhart’s character a cokehead because he looked like. But no, he’s addicted to candy. Whup-de-doo.

I thought it was a lot better than his last few movies, I also saw it this past weekend - some really funny parts.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - I thought this was okay. It’s a simple story, but there are some decent action sequences. It’s definitely PG, but not necessarily childish (no more than than say the Ewoks or Jar Jar was). If you’re a die hard Star Wars fan, then I think you’ll like it enough. If you’re a kid, then you’ll LOVE it. If you’re not a huge SW fan, then this won’t do anything for you.

Monster’s Ball - Another movie I never got around to seeing until this week. I liked it, but I can’t remember much about it other than Halle Berry. Kind of a depressing story, but I think that was the point.

The Squid and the Whale - I liked this a lot. While not a comedy, there are some very funny (and embarrassing) moments to it. It felt like every character in the movie was tragically flawed, but that’s what made it interesting.

Street Kings - I thought this was okay. Kind of predictable and didn’t really stand out. It also felt like it was ripping off Training Day in parts.

Prom Night - This sucks hard! It’s only PG13. How can you have a PG13 slasher flick? It’s not scary and it’s not bloody at all. What’s the number one thing missing from this teenage slasher flick? There are no boobies in the movie! Waste of time.

The Life Before Her Eyes - I didn’t like this at all. It was all over the place, needlessly confusing and was trying too hard to be deep.

Superbad

Finally got around to seeing this last night. Very funny. The language caught me a bit off-guard, but it didn’t bother me. The scenes with McLovin and the 2 cops were the best things in the movie.

Jumper: Didn’t like this movie that much. Really bad story line, but the only thing that kept me watching this movie was Rachel Bilson.

21: I thought the movie was good. I remember watching the true story on Discovery channel I think and explained a lot on what had happened. Similar to the movie. This movie makes me want to go back to Las Vegas again.

At our grocery store, they have like a machine where you can rent movies for a dollar. I’ve always been curious about renting one from there plus sometimes, you’ll see a line where people are waiting to rent a movie.

I finally used that machine and its pretty cool. Simply swipe a credit card and you are charged a dollar per day. Of course, it doesn’t have the greatest selection but it does carry some new releases. Has anyone rented from one of these machines?

damn, should have read this thread. I rented Prom Night for tonight :frowning:

I rent from Redbox all the time. It’s convenient as I go grocery shopping twice a week.

Only downside is, if you don’t need to drive back out, you’re like “oh, it’s only another dollar I’ll return it tomorrow” lol

Crash

what the fuck ?
gotta see it again

X2,

Will Ferrell can be hit or miss and I thought he was spot on in this movie. Teaming up with the other guy was a great idea, I thought Vince Vaughn would have been a better fit but still. Worth a good laugh for sure.

Yeah, but if you end up liking it, then you can just call me an idiot.

This week I’ve watched :

Over the Top : Come on… Sylvester Stallone, Rick Zumwalt… arm wrestling? Can’t go wrong.

Hellboy : Pretty entertaining. I hope Golden Army will be better though.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay : Fuckin’ hilarious. Watch it. It’s amazing.

this week I’ve watched Tropic Thunder…Pretty good! A little too similar to Ben Stiller’s typical style, but Robert Downy Jr. was amazing…as usual…let’s hope he can stay off the drugs.

oh ya and I watched kama sutra…it was on netflix

First post.
Watched “The Prestige” and “The Brave One”, which I thought sucked.

so yeah, Prom Night was pretty bad.

The Darjeeling Limited: Great, great movie. So good it was ridiculous. A work of art.

There will be blood: Good movie. Unusual but likeable soundtrack (imagine a japanese orchestra playing the music from psycho for two hours). Central performance that will rank as one of the greats.

Armor of God: Amazing stunts, bad plot.
Police Story 3: Ditto
Project A 2: Sheer awesome.

the darjeeling limited was a great movie. i agree about the soundtrack to there will be blood. i remember that as well as day lewis’s performance being intense and unique. good stuff. i hope to see vicky cristina barcelona, tropic thunder and pineapple express this weekend.

i love my stoner movies. up in smoke and friday were the best; also, harold and kumar go to white castle. i need to rent guantamo.

I’ve watched a lot of movies since my last post so here goes:

21 - I was kinda disappointed. It wasn’t bad, I just expected more, uh, complexity, I guess. I thought it would take more than a basic understanding of the 3 door problem to be considered very gifted at MIT. And some of the Vegas scenes were just laughable.

Monster’s Ball - Pretty good movie, except for the ending. Maybe I lost some of the emotion of the movie since I watched in two parts, but I thought the ending was very weak.

Crash - A little bit forced, but pretty good.

Stuff that was just playing so I watched:
The Departed
Transformers
Poison Ivy 1&2
There’s Something About Mary
and I watched The Simpsons Movie in Spanish.

Also, this isn’t a movie, but I want to add it anyway. Let me start by saying I’m not a big Monty Python fan. I fell asleep during Holy Grail twice. But I just went to see Spamalot and it was hilarious. I laughed through the whole thing.

I don’t know how many, if anyone here, is interested in musicals at all, but I highly recommend Spamalot. Actually, I’ve seen a handful of musicals in the last couple years and have enjoyed most of them. Avenue Q is also very funny and entertaining.

Saw Tropic Thunder last night. I thought it was pretty weak. I guess after some of the other comedies this summer I almost felt as if I wasted my time going to it. Even Step Brothers was quite a bit better IMO.

At home I’ve been watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s actually been pretty entertaining. The only thing I hate about it is the PG rating. It is so FUCKING ridiculous to see people say “freaking” and “frick”. But the hot terminator girl makes up for it.

I keep on asking myself if I was the young John Connor, would I take the hot terminator to the side and see if she’s “fully equipped” haha.

I watched training day the other for the first time and it was an awesome film, denzel deserved his oscar for this. Last night though I watched a classic…Robocop! i hear they are making a remake of that
