Oh, and one more shout out for The Descent (2005). This movie was way better than expected once they get under ground.
The Descent 2 is just as good. In this part the chick who makes it out, goes back literally 1 or 2 days after she escaped to go find her friends. and then it just starts all over again.
I’m watching it now.

Pros: better camera work, lighting and quality of how the whole thing looks. It did have some decent scenes. This was way bloodier and more claustrophobic.

Cons: To get them back underground, they went way too “Hollywood” with the logic. In the first one, they pretty much acted like real women who were pissed at each other if their lives are at risk. Here, they made 10 different dumbass decisions just so there would be a movie to start with to get them in the cave.

Haven’t read the whole thread, but if it hasn’t been mentioned, Equilibrium.

Low budget, no publicity, no real special effects or CGI, But an awesome movie.

Yeah, they put Gun Fu back on the map.

I agree with the person that put up “Trick or Treat” that one was very good anthology throwback.

Not sure if anyone mentioned “The Mist” but I thought that was one of the best ones of the year. It had a great bleak ending that reminded me of those 70’s sci-fi horror movie endings…you know, where instead of everything ending up ok, William Shatner pulls back the curtain to find the whole town engulfed in spider webs? Yeah…just like that.
Agreed. The Mist is one of my favorites now. They got about as close to the short story as humanly possible on screen…aside from that HUGE change of an ending.
I was gonna say the same. I read the book before seeing the movie and was pretty shocked at the ending. I think I may have liked it better though because you hardly see something like that.

“The Long Walk” is a Stephen King book that I would like to see made into a movie. Not much of a plot or anything but I had a lot of fun reading it.

Another movie that I love (my brothers and I know every single line) that all of my friends hate, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. The 2nd of the Bill and Ted movies. I think it was better than the first by far

I actually have to give the Descent 2 more credit. If you can get passed how illogical it is to go back in the cave the way they did, that “reunion fight scene” and that death following make up for it.

They should have left in every single deleted scene they took out. I think this is the problem with some European directors…there is a slight difference between their ideas and what some American audiences find interesting.

I went to that movie with my girl at the time…and walked out smiling. Maybe I just liked her, but I don’t remember hating the movie either.

Yeah, it’s a chick flick…that was actually a little interesting with girls walking around in their underwear.

Agreed. Very good movie I thought. Would have liked a bit more exposition about that creepy mine owner though. Some of my favourite parts in the first movie were learning a bit about the history of the cave - finding the old caving gear and then later the prehistoric drawings.

The “prequel” has been overdone but I think the Descent is a legitimate candidate for one…

The HOST

“The Siege” IT takes on a whole new feeling post 911. That an “Swordfish” both kinda strange to watch now.

Surf Ninjas used to be a movie that I loved and thought I could put it up here. I watched it again yesterday. Aside from a few Rob Schneider lines, it was torture

Any exposition regarding the creepy mine owner would’ve been much appreciated so as to save the movie from one of the shittiest, most nonsensical endings I’ve seen in some time.

Solid movie up until the very end.

Agreed. I watched the director’s commentary looking for an answer and they didn’t even mention it.

European directors seem to be a little off. I can see if they are planning another one to explain that but with Juno and the lead dead, I am not sure it will have the same appeal.

A third movie was the only (somewhat) reasonable explanation I could come up with to explain that… but I think they could’ve gone about it a little smoother. Then again, I generally dislike sequels that involve none of the original cast so I might just be bitter it didn’t wrap up tightly enough.
