Movie Memorabilia

So at my new workplace, the owner has set up on the wall an original “Taxi Driver” Poster. Published in '76 and showcased at one of the first public cinema viewings of Taxi Driver, it’s been kept in pretty good condition, but has been re-cased a fair few times so the value has dropped down to 600. The owner has a couple of other original paintings and maps all valued at over 500 and some in excess of 1000. But this is by far my favourite.

I was considering just dropping this into an already made thread, but I had the idea to ask you all if any of you have any special film memorabilia you’ve kept over the years or may have acquired at some point in your life. It doesn’t have to be a costly object by any means, (I have a replica of the ‘Bad Motherfucker’ wallet from Pulp Fiction that was fairly cheap by comparison) but something that reminds you of a film you love and bought out of appreciation. Or even something you’ve always enjoyed the idea of obtaining, but have never been able to yourself.

I’ve been considering pooling my wages and savings for a while and buying the original to put up in my house, and maybe acquire more items to create a room full of equally impressive items in the future. I know that my boss acquires his items from a client that has a vast stock of props, posters and signings, so I may try to get in contact once my budget is a tad higher and see what comes of it.

In high school (mid-'90s), one of the theaters near me had this poster in the lobby.

I wish I knew how rare it was at the time, I might’ve asked my buddy who worked there to, um, see if he could procure it when it came time to swap them out.

I also have a little figurine of Elwood Blues as a keychain. One of his hands broke off and a bunch of the paint is chipped, so I don’t carry it around anymore.

I keep meaning to buy one of the Jack Burton tank tops from Big Trouble in Little China, I just never get around to it.

It’d be cool to have the rock that the cemetery zombie smashed the car window with from Night of the Living Dead, but I’m guessing that’s not exactly available.

The SS Minnow from Giligan’s Island fame is for sale. Apparently completely restored and a working tour vessel.

I totally want it.

Oh man, that Star Wars poster style must be worth a hell of a lot now provided the condition is still great. Apparently my boss’s client has a decommissioned version of a poster from A Clockwork Orange, one that Kubrick made but never released to the public due to him feeling it gave too much of the film’s subtlety away. Valued at 7000 I believe, along with four others that she doesn’t have, but are the only ones made and still available for purchase (not counting the one Malcolm McDowell has and the one left for Kubrick’s family in the will, amongst others).

The Jack Burton wifebeater would be real cool, it’s such a cult movie that I expect there’d be a fairly heavy demand relative to the price of it.

The Night Of The Living Dead props would be great to have, I know that Karen’s Trowel is available, with signatures from the cast, but the price must be ridiculously high and outside of most people’s budget for sure.

Nothing of value but these are some of the movie posters that were up in my house or office

Blow

True Romance

The warriors

Night of the Living Dead

Kids

Oh man Matty, those are some damn fine posters. I’d kill women and children for that True Romance one, probably The Warriors one too. And especially for the Evil Dead one, I’d love to have all three originals (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army Of Darkness) up and together next to each other.

The Outsiders

This one, this one right here.

It was a goal of mine to get movie posters of all of my favorite movies…Stand by Me, brings back such memories, one of the best buddy coming of age flicks of all time, well for my taste anyway.

That’s a great god damn goal, I want one of those sweet hall of fame hallways where they’re all cased up and each one has a specific light switch for dim light viewing. Optional red carpet flooring and upright pillar supports.

Stand By Me is indeed one of the (if not the) best coming of age films of all time.

Hell Yeah!

Stand By Me was on TV a couple of nights ago. Y’know…that fat kid doesn’t look so fat to my modern eyes anymore.

Funny that this thread pops up now. I just bought this movie poster from eBay earlier this week. It’s an original copy from 1966. Set me back about $350 but it’ll be worth every penny. I already have a frame for it. It’s 27x41 and in near-mint condition. I can’t wait until it arrives in the mail.
