So on my fourth day in country so far. Absolutely fantastic place so far. Some observations though.

Confusing as hell having to get used to looking right before crossing the road first. Also, I thought people in DC drove like assholes. You people here take the cake. I’ve seen a dozen people already take a turn blindly hauling ass. What if there was a pedestrian crossing in that blind spot. Makes me extra cautious on my bike or push bike as you Australians call it.

Growing up in the states I thought a coffee was a coffee and if you wanted a something like a latte or cappuccino you just asked for that. I asked for coffee here and the lovely lady was like what kind and I replied a small. And she said a small what and I said coffee and she said what kind. Well that went on for like five minutes. So I learned about long blacks and flat whites and to my surprise those were not porn categories. But having said that. Fuck man you guys have the best coffee I’ve ever had and I have had a lot of coffee from a lot of places.

Earlier above someone mentioned something about cunt birds. Yeah the birds here are a bunch of loud mouthed cunts that never shut the fuck up. I’ve never had to deal with such racket at the wee hours of the morning right outside my window.

Its hotter then hell here but that could be cause I just came from the arctic tundra that is now the north east/mid atlantic of the united states. -12 F in New York state and teasing the single digits in DC area. Sun sure is strong here. I am not surprised I see so many billboards for skin cancer screenings, unfortunately. But I do see a lot of people proactively applying sun screen so thats good.

Like my area, Wollongong gets a hell of a lot of tourists and outta-towners through the Christmas/New Years/ Australia Day (26th Jan) so generally it’s all the rude shmucks from Sydney who don’t know the roads well but you’ll get used to it
Yeah the coffee shtick is difficult, it’s because generally the go too coffee is a cappuccino, but if just stick to black, white or generic name (cap, latte, etc) you’ll be sweet

Yeah the Aussie sun is something else, it has something to do with our ozone layer being worn more then anywhere else on earth. 15 mins in sunlight will leave you burnt. Get checked regularly!
If you have a mode of vehicle transport, I suggest going north to the royal national park, and doing a variety of bush walks and brilliant beaches
