Most Wicked Indeed

Gonna seem lame… But my girlfriend and I were staying at her house one night and decided to pop on Mothman Prophecies… Normally I wouldn’t be so extremely freaked out, but throughout the whole movie I kept hearing noises upstairs like doors opening and shutting, loud thuds, and at one point I swear on my life I heard someone walking up the stairs on the back porch. On several occasions I grabbed a bat and ran up stairs.

Finding nothing, and not wanting to freak my girlfriend out more than my actions already had, we continued to watch the movie. As they were explaining the phone calls, her house phone rang ONE time. Never in my life have I ever had a feeling like that. I truly believed someone was in the house, watching us, fucking with us, etc… I wasn’t able to sleep at all that night. Even now to this day thinking about it gives me the chills and makes me nervous.

The creepyness of that movie, topped with the creepyness of the house, has all together made that the scariest and most memorable movie experience I’ve ever had.

^creepiness, not creepyness.

Your story creeped me out too… so well done, lol.

bloodbaths plz

Well, without going into too much detail, Resident Evil is at the glossier end of the horror bracket. If you want “horror”, Stake Land delivers. Don’t be surprised when some of the scares creep up in familiar shapes…babies are slaughtered and religion is raped by religion (literally and metaphorically)…and to think I could’ve gone to PWI to see that for free.

Every horror fan should rent this if only to balance the scales after the Twilight franchise sucked the life out of vampire movies. The director and lead actor/ writer teamed up before for the rat-zombie movie Mulberry Street:

I’d love to see what they can do with a substantial budget.

lol, no horror fan saw Twilight … I think there may be a “backlash” coming though that WILL right vampires in movies. There was one that I saw the commercial for over the summer where the vampire made a statement like “this isnt twilight” or something similar…there’s hope

Mulberry looks good…Id say a large budget would end up making them “pretty” and “clean”. They seem to be able to pull it off with the funds they have. But who knows?

The backlash started with Stake Land…I’d rather they leave Twilight references out of serious horror movies

Nah, the guys behind Mulberry Street and Stake Land are carving out a niche in “character horror”, where the “monster” is indiscriminating, faceless and merciless and the “victims” range from innocent to worse than the boogeyman.

Mickle and Damici are the type of film makers we need in Hollywood. They know how to get the most from small budgets, but won’t rely on money if and when they have money thrown at them.

I also rate Nick Damici as one of the best “undiscovered” actors I’ve seen: he carried Mulberry Street and Stake Land. I didn’t know he was in SL but I recognized him instantly from Mulberry.
