Most Hated Bands

Awesome!

I also agree with your other points.
Try and dig up Corb Lund & The Hurtin’ Albertans (use to be called the Corb Lund Band). IMHO (and I listen to a lot more rock than country) but they’re pretty good, and quite different from every other country song that gets played on the radio.
I saw them a few months ago, and its not the type of music that you could comfortably play in a big concert.

 1. Dave Matthews Band and Coldplay (tie): You fuckers started this whole “emo” craze (The Fray, James Blunt, Modest Mouse, etc) of pussy guys whining to pussy music and wearing pussy clothes.

This may very well be one of the most ignorant statements ever made about music…

Dave Matthews Band and Coldplay did NOT start emo. You have no clue what emo even is. Modest Mouse is one of the least emo bands I have ever heard. They are straight up indie rock.

Furthermore these are all bands that are more or less quite recent. Emo started in the late 80’s with Minor THreat and Rites of Spring.

And how is Modest Mouse and Dave Matthews whiny? Coldplay, sure, I can see that. And as a band they just rehash the same shit over and over again. But the former bands are not whiny by any means. Showing emotion does not make you a pussy bitch.

Anyways, any commercial artist that has no artistic integrity pisses me off, especially when they have a “I’m the shit” attitude.
I haven’t read through the entire thread to see if this was corrected, but your reply to one of the most ignorant statements on music is pretty ignorant.

Minor Threat has nothing to do with emo. they also have nothing to do with the late 80’s, having been completely broken up by 1984. You make a fair point with rites of spring, but derail with just about everything else.

as for modest mouse, if “terrible” was a genre, they’d be there. but they are certainly more emo than minor threat…and I want a single sentence from you telling me why modest mouse is indie and not emo. go.

Minor Threat emo? No… straightedge hardcore. Emo started with, like, the Descendents…

But I like 'em anyway.
man, I keep going through this thread and attempts at education go wrong.

the descendents are not emo. just because they sang about girls, does not make the emo. your statement would have been fair if it said that they laid the foundation for pop punk (along with the buzzcocks and the jam I guess).

Yeah I hate that shit. esp when caucasian kids act like their FiddyCent or something

Does anybody know tokio-hotel?

Sigh, I guess I’ll risk my neck and speak for the majority of college students… well around here anyways. I appreciate hip-hop and rap not for its lyrical content but for the effects it has on a social scene. Some of you guys would too if you went to a club filled with hot girls shaking their asses and touching the floor or whatever else Lil Jon tells them to do. I love the beats, the chorus are catchy and you get to dance/grind with hot girls. End of story.

Don’t get me wrong, I listen to heavy metal or rock to get me pumped up for the gym or DMB and Ben Harper to mellow out after an exam, but hip-hop just goes hand in hand with hot girls.

Now I know people are going to be like, “chicks dig rock bands!” but would you rather head bang with a girl or grind with her and her hot friends? I’m just going to take a guess that you’ll have a better chance of bringing a girl home with the latter.

But eh, to each his own, Hip-hop does have its places though.

So much hate in this thread  I guess that’s the point though eh?

Dashboard Confessional and Modest Mouse are probably at the top of my most hated current bands. I dislike most modern country so I can’t really name any specifics, it all sucks equally to me with the exception of some blue grass stuff, like Nickel Creek and Bela Fleck.

My two favorite current bands? Mushroomhead and Clutch, awesome in the studio, insane live, they’re both incredible shows and usually play smaller venues so you’re right up next to the stage in the pit, good stuff.

Best.

OK, dude, you’re way more punk than me.

You win punk rock.

Sorry Zarathus. You’ve been bumped to second place. This is the new best line ever.

Oh, and Nolecat, I find the remark about “every college student loving Dave Mathews” to be offensive. As a college student/metalhead, I would like nothing more than to string Dave up with barbed wire from our school’s goal post, drench him in gasoline and ignite it. That would be the only time I would find his voice (screams) to be entertaining.
Good point…I should’ve said a majority of college students…seeing that I am a grad student myself!

Rascal Flats…have you seen these guys? They dress like metrosexual country boys. All of country sucks except for Cash and Willie Nelson.

Oh mate, i love jack johnson, he has such a beautiful voice. Maybe that’s why you hate him.

Jealous?

And Merle and Waylon (and Coe, too, but I know a lot of people don’t like him).

Thank you Hatebreeder, and I definately dont hate metal. I listen to stuff such as Amon Amarth, Immortal, Children of Bodom, etc. Mostly Black and Death metal with other genres and sub-genres in their. What I am saying mostly is that I dont like the direction these bands have taken. Now my question is did you start listening to them once MTV and Headbangers BAll started playing them and only that newer material was played, or have you been listening to them since their first releases where the true musicianship lies?
Hmmm, I can’t say that In Flames is one of my favorite bands, I started listening to them with reroute to remain, cloud connected was one of my favorite songs, I really liked soundtrack to your escape best though. Children of Bodom is great although they get repetitive in their songs. Amon Amarth is great mostly because they sing about vikings. As far as metal goes I’ll admit I’m a fan of some of the more mainstream stuff like As I Lay Dying and the Black Dahlia Murder but some of the pure death metal stuff I can get into.

Jumpstretch STRONG bands. I hate those fuckers…kick my ass every time.

Static-X…Fucking terrible.

Not sure who is the worst, but ya better believe who i feel is the Best band in the fuckin world!

I blame Headbangers Ball for the downfall of a lot of good bands including In Flames and Fear Factory. I fear Arch Enemy is next. Some bands can survive MTV…others can’t. It’s really sad.
