Nickelback. I will not look at your photograph.

ANyone from the 80’s should kick your ass for saying that Rush sucks. I could give a shit what Lee reportedly said. Neil Perth is a drummer’s drummer. A fucking God in my book. Getty Lee is just jealous because no one remembers his name - only his crappy vocals. But Rush Rules.

If you took a second and clicked on the link, you MIGHT be able to figure out the site is a parody site.
Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that Rush does suck. Long, shitty songs with gay ass lyrics. Even a good drummer couldn’t save that crap.

i watched a full concert vid of those guys in argentina(?) at a friend’s house. i was blown away. those cats are the tightest, most versatile band i’ve ever seen. i can’t say that their music got up inside me but damn they were impressive.
I hate:
Eminem - stop the fucking whining you little bitch. your a bad father, a terrible husband, and an even worse person, go die in a hole.
Rolling Stones - why do people love them so much? gotta respect them for what they did for rock, but come on!
Fallout Boy and the likes - stop whining and cutting yourself.
Hey dumbass…you realize that that Rush news blog from the Daily Probe is a satirical website. Read the header: “because real news sucks.” For one thing…I’ve heard many interviews with Neil, Geddy, and Alex, and they don’t speak as if they just passed the 7th grade(not to mention Neil does not do interviews since the death of his wife and daughter within the same year), and in case you didn’t know…Rush is the third most prolific seller of consecutive (American) Gold and Platinum Records and videos, behind only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
You call that shitty album sales…how about packing a 125,000 person arena in Brazil for their 30th anniversary tour. I’ve come to find that you either love or hate Rush…there is no inbetween…but they are each highly influential in their respective talents…hell…Les Claypool of Primus listed Geddy Lee as his idol, and Alex has some awesome esoteric chord combinations and solos that have influenced many, and rainjack was deadon about Neil Peart…by far one of the best drummers in the world.
About the only thing they have been accused of is lyrical pretention and musical grandstanding…which would be a compliment to me. I think Geddy’s voice is a turnoff for some…I happen to like it…to each his own.
You’re all old, your musical opinion become less and less valid as you age.
It’s a proven fuckin’ fact.
Though I do agree with most of what’s said about the emo and what not I figured I’d just point that out.
ahh…didn’t see this post…I renege on my dumbass comment…partially…haha…cause they’re lyrics don’t suck and they stopped doing long songs quite a few albums ago…but I kinda liked their long songs…

You made me fall out of my chair, i laughed so hard at this statement. Good one.
Neil Perth is a good drummer, but i FUCKING hate everything he plays. have you seen his kit lately? it looks more like a roller coaster than a drumset. i don’t give a fuck if he DOES use all the pieces…
…for everyone knocking on Green Day* and claiming “a twelve year old could write those songs,” get real. Green Day pretty much owns the pop scene right now. fame like that isn’t accidental. they’ve worked their asses off to become a pop/rock icon, and they’ve finally made it. kudos to them, even if i DO want to murder kittens every time i have to sit through the 68 minutes of “Jesus of Suburbia.” credit where credit’s due, kids…
…Dave Matthews is NOT emo. his music is another example of something i won’t listen to, but will give HUGE props to. when you can fill enough seats for an arena tour BY YOURSELF, guys, i’m sorry, but talk all the shit you want - sell some tickets to your shows, and we’ll talk about Mr. Matthews and his shortcomings…
…Fall Out Boy is a band that i consider a guilty pleasure of mine. they’re not a band i’ll carry with me into old age, but they write music that’s fun to listen to, and it’s solid pop music. again, there’s a reason that every fourteen year old girl in the country has a FOB quote as her name on myspace…
…the same goes for My Chemical Romance. they came a long way from their first album, and they wrote an extremely solid second album. i HATE that album now, but i couldn’t stop listening to it when it first came out…
…the point i’m trying to make is this: musical taste often gets skewed by a band’s exposure. for instance, a band that you might have really liked on its own will become a band you hate because EVERYONE is listening to them and you hear that goddamned single every ten seconds on MTV or the radio…
…as far as bands that i wish had never existed, i wish a fiery death on any pop star that got famous for doing NOTHING. britney spears, hilary duff - all the teenyboppers that got famous under the careful direction of a money-making producer and a hit-factory label with a team of song writers and vocal coaches to back them up…
…i also hate bands that have one or two good ideas and then rewrite that same song to stay famous. Staind is one that i hold on that level, personally. Godsmack and Nickelback, too…
…and that’s my novella.
love,
jason
*DISCLAIMER: i don’t like Green Day’s new music. i don’t own anything after Insomniac, nor do i intend to. bear this in mind while reading.
- Blink 182
- New Found Glory
- P.Diddy
I actually got angry as i started listing these names.

don’t you mean keep cutting yourself, and get serious about it so you die and we don’t have to listen to your music?

With all this talk of “What songs get you the most pumped up to lift,” I’m starting my own, of “Bands you hope get herpes and can’t perform ever again.” Top 5 for me:
-
Dave Matthews Band and Coldplay (tie): You fuckers started this whole “emo” craze (The Fray, James Blunt, Modest Mouse, etc) of pussy guys whining to pussy music and wearing pussy clothes.
-
Staind: Whiny little bitches. So I know you hated your parents. Stop whining about it. Or at least deal with it like Jonathan Davis from Korn does; scream and cuss into the microphone.
-
Lil Jon and the Yin Yang twins: Whaaaa? Yeeeeea. You have no talent. You can’t even speak correctly. No one likes you.
-
Creed: If you even need an explaination to why they suck then you suck too.
And my most hated band:
-
System of a Down: If you were to put a pig and Peewee Herman in a blender and then play a guitar while blending them, it would sound like a System song.
You are so correvt young Jesse.
SOD sucks the most.
In all fairness, 99.9% of the stuff you hear on the radio is shit. Other than 1 or 2 bands that slip through the corporate cracks and some noteable older music, it’s all just dribble. Lets be honest though, the average guy needs the validation of a few million other idiots before he/she can embrace another musician.
I can’t count the times I’ve heard someone claim the 80s the most dismal era for music. Compared to what, the 50 Cent and Britney Spears of the nineties? If the radio is your music source than odds are anything past the late 70s you’re listening to is shit. For what it’s worth, the 80s was about one of the best decades for the type of music that I like; Husker Du, The Minutemen, Big Boys, Gorilla Biscuits, Bad Brains…I could go on for days.

I’ve always really liked Rush. Shame on me.
Anything that plays on MTV or TRL.

People like the Rolling Stones because they are to rock what Mozart was to classical music.
Their 35-year-old albums sound better than 99% of the shit out today.
Wow I’ve been away from my computer all day and this contributers to this thread really came up with some shitty bands! Good job everyone.
In response to my Dave Matthews/Coldplay listing:
In the 90’s, DMB brought out the pussy hippies in herds. As he faded, groups like Coldplay, David Gray, Modest Mouse, Franz Fernidnad, and other estrogen filled asstard bands became more popular with the hippie population. Slowly, many of the hippies transformed into Emo-bitches, where you find at Emo concerts (Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab for Cutie, etc.) I hate Emo music and Emo people, and I blame them on DMB and Coldplay.

“We used to blame our low record sales on music critics slamming us or thinking that most people aren’t intelligent enough to appreciate us,” said the band’s bassist, Geddy Lee. “Instead, we’ve come to realize that the problem all along has been our shitty music.”
Maybe it’s just me, but that reads like a joke, ala The Onion. BTW, I have hummed all of those tunes on an elevator at least once in my life…

Well, it is now official. I’m old. I have never heard of ANY of these bands. And while we’re at it, what the hell is “emo”?
