We are probably quite a few non-american lurkers who finds that the discussions here on PWI educational and that they give good insight into the two sides’ (and those in between) stance on some of the key-issues.
If one wanted to explore other similar forums or sites with an obvious slant to either side, which would you recommend?

Lots out there that have already been highlighted. I have no idea why most people would want to read demonstrably biased websites (the on purpose stuff) as their main source of “news.”
In our two party system people just want to hear what they want to hear. They don’t want their thoughts and opinions changed or challenged. They want an echo chamber confirming what they already believe. It’s really sad, but we’re only going to see more partisan and biased websites, not less. It’s just giving the people what the people want.

I know where this leads as I’ve seen it a hundred times before. Both parties are ‘exactly the same.’ And everyone is ‘biased’ except for Ron Paul and his gaggle of Lincoln hating historical revisionists right? Tell me I’m wrong.

I agree that in a perfect world there would be sources that are genuinely balanced and objective but since I haven’t managed to find any the best alternative must be to read sources representing both side of the coin and do the balancing part yourself.

Pretty much. You’ll find the rare reporter who tells it like it is, but their editors often inject the bias and manipulation into the pieces too.
Not just the actual reporter has to have integrity, editors too.

I don’t hate Lincoln and don’t agree with everything Ron Paul says.
Both parties aren’t exactly the same, but they are the same on all the stuff that matters. They are most “different” when they aren’t in power and need to convince the sheep that the problem is the other side.
It’s actually funny to watch them go at it. That was the “old Republicans” The RINOS. We’re new reformed small government Republicans.
Yeah, and Democrats were against torture, war, Patriot Act, etc…at least when it was President Bush doing it and not President Obama.
Either way you wouldn’t agree with me as you ARE the reader of sites that have demonstrable bias because you play into the “other side” ballgame which drives so much of our political debate. You don’t really avoid biased websites as much as seek them out.

This is what I do as well. It is funny to see people on both sides of the political aisle on here and where they post stories from.
Plenty of media out there to feed everyone the giant dose of confirmation bias they want anyways.

Actually they’re not the same on things that matter. That’s the whole point. The Democrats are the party of the new deal, the great society and socialised medicine. And in spite of the RINOs, federal spending has always been less when Republicans control Congress.

New York Times columnist (liberal) Joe Klein states the only straight news cast these days is Fox’s Special Report With Bret Baier.
I have a handful of reporters that I like to watch because I feel like I get the news more so than opinion.
Bret Baier
Jim Lehrer
Wolf Blitzer
Shepard Smith
and Anderson Cooper
And the only opinion based guy I will watch is Glenn Beck but his CNN show was much much better than his Fox show. I actually haven’t really cared for him as much since the move to Fox.
While some of those will show there leanings pretty heavily sometimes, I usually feel like I can see the truth somewhere and they aren’t just blatantly twisting things to fit their agenda ie Olberman, Hannity, Maddow, Oreilly, and Matthews.
You can basically rank the networks into 4 categories:
Anything on MSNBC and CNN opinion programming =Heavily Left
CNN news programming= slight left lean
Fox News reporting= slight right lean
Fox News opinion programming= Heavy Right Lean
Havent watched CBS or ABC news in forever so I cannot make a comment about them although in the past from what I remember I would put them with the slight left lean group.

Out of the loop, eh? Little Green Footballs hasn’t been a conservative site for many years. I think what happened was this… He used to be big on Muslim bashing (uh, criticizing Islam) but always insisted that when Right Wingers attacked Islam, it wasn’t because of bigotry. You know, like opposing the “9/11 Mosque” and similar events.
Eventually, he figured out - Oh geez, yes… my side is attacking Islam because of bigotry. He couldn’t ignore it. And then the dam broke, and he started to change his outlook on other issues. Stuff like the non-stop chatter about the Obama birth certificate was another big issue for him. And he figured out that Right Wingers are wrong about a lot of other things as well. I don’t know if he’s renounced the textbook ideals of conservatism, but he certainly goes after Republican leaders and pundits, and he routinely defends Obama and other Democrats. (Maybe he figured out Obama is actually a centrist, and only seems like a leftist to people with distorted viewpoints).
Check his site out, it’s not bad now. It used to be un-fucking-readable. I’ll look at it once in a while. It makes me wonder… Maybe there’s hope for some of you guys, too?
PS: Why is your screen name “Sex Machine”? You’re like the biggest prude on the PWI forum. (Sarcasm maybe?)

Yes I haven’t been to that site for some time and was unaware of the change.
Also, I’m not a prude and my moniker is in reference to the character played by Sam Raimi in From Dusk Till Dawn.

Yeah, 'cause it’s inconceivable anyone could be critical of islam because of their propensity to kill everyone who disagrees with their views.
