How in the hell can Justin Timberlake get anything besides an 8th grade girl “AMPED”?

God, I hope you are joking.

I cant stand people who can listen to these bands day in and day out for 20 years. WTF. I get sick of a song after the 10th time i hear it. How do people listen to this shit for 20 years and not want to rip their ears off?
are you crazy???

Most songs from the 80’s.

Nothing is sadder or leaves a person more dated than rocking out to Van Halen, Twisted Sister, or one of them other sucky 80’s bands that constantly repeat the same phrases over and over again. Plus they’re annoying. Get over it. It was 20 years ago. Tight pants still aren’t cool.
songs from the 80s are good

Fuckin EMO songs!

Oh yeah, and all that Rap BS, shit about got mo’ money and bling bling shit. ugh I hate that!

It’s too bad that so many people instantly relate rap to music about guns, money, and hoes. Unfortunately, most of stuff getting airplay is about that, but there is so much more out there. It almost makes me want to start a thread just to expose people to good albums not about gang banging and hoe slapping.

Heck I lived through it. I remember it. Tight pants and the whole get go. Maybe we should have a few rounds of “hey I popped the teacher…” or “rock you like a hurricane” and the other wildly childish songs at the time. And as far as genres go, they all fall within the same one as far as I’m concerned. Perhaps subtly different but who cares? I mean how would you say they’re different?
TS was a gimmick band with one decent hit. The only thing they share in common with VH is that they had videos out at the same time. I seriously doubt your 80s creds, since the only ones you keep mentioning are the ones with well-known videos — you probably saw them on an MTV or VH1 “Classics” program.

VH definitely had two faces. The pop one and the hardass rock one. You’ve only seen one of those faces. If you’d ever listened to Atomic Punk, I’m on Fire, Lighting Up the Sky, Fools, Push Comes to Shove, Mean Street, Intruder, One Foot out the Door, Girl Gone Bad, or House of Pain you’d know what I’m talking about.

Download a few of those songs and then come talk to me about genres, sonny.

Just because they’re sung with the utmost seriousness and so much angst, doesn’t make the rock songs of today any less childish.

Shit, since you mentioned it, just look at the lyrics for Rock You Like a Hurricane by The Scorpions:

The bitch is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
Ive got to leave
Its time for a show

Here I am, rocked you like a hurricane

Not-so-subtly describing fucking groupies and declaring, “yeah, bitch I tore that pussy up! Now beat it!”

Refering to Van Halen as “one of them other sucky 80’s bands” is like refering to The Beatles or The Rolling Stones as “one of them sucky 60’s bands”. Regardless of whether you liked them or not, they were all very relevant for their time and have a massive body of work that is, for the most part, timeless.
Both band actually started in the 70s. Scorpions go back to '72 or '73 and VH started around '75 or '76.

The Scorpions are an interesting band to bring up. They started in the early 70s as a psychedelic band and morphed into a unique rock band that defies description. Great rhythm guitar, strong bass lines, and the death-defying guitar work of Uli Jon Roth, whose whammy-bar antics rank second only to Hendrix.

They kept rocking through the disco, punk, and new wave eras and there’s a lot to say about that! (don’t get me going about Motorhead, I’ll never shut up) The Scorps definitely took a pop-turn in the 80s (Roth had left by '78 or '79), but anything up until the Blackout album is worth a listen.

You may have a little trouble finding these songs on Limewire or wherever, but they’re definitely worth a listen:
I’m Going Mad
In Trance (coolest double-track guitar solo)
Catch Your Train (whammy bar heaven)
The Riot of Your Time
AND
The Sails of Charon (with Duke Ellington’s Caravan worked into the opening guitar riffs)

Sorry to hijack the annoying song thread, with Scott’s annoying reminiscences (sp?).

What about Ween’s “Push the little daisies and make them come up”?

Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira… I declare Jihad on that shit.

You must be joking!

Apparently you have been listening to the wrong Black Sabbath.

Yes!!! Sabbath rocks from beginning to end! The Ozzy era helped lay the groundwork for all of heavy metal. All the fuzzy guitar fiends like Soundgarden, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Corrosion of Conformity, the list goes on owe a big debt to Sabbath.

Ronnie James brought his D&D slant from Rainbow and carried them into the 80s.

Born Again, with Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) on vocals, may be the heaviest and sickest (in a good way) album they’ve ever done.

I concur, sir. Perhaps some Gang Starr or 3rd Bass is in order to enlighten the masses?

Sabbath and GnR are awesome bands. Solo ozzy is great as well. You just insulted guitar players like Randy Rhoads, Tony Iommi, Zakk Wilde and Slash. Have you no shame?

Most annoying songs are anything by Sean Paul, Justin Timberlake, Chingy and Nelly. Especially Hot in Here. There is also that pop punk shit like Simple plan and good charlatte. Fuck! i could go on forever.

Excellent choice with Gang Starr! As for 3rd Bass, The Cactus Album was great. Their other album, Derelicts of Dialects; I don’t remember being nearly as good, but it has been a long time since I’ve heard it.

For those that are interested, I will start sort of a review of what I consider good to great rap and hip hop albums in my blog here. I’ll start with Gang Starr.

I swear the Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback had to write ‘Photograph’ together…when its on I’m jealous of the deaf.

gloria gaynor- I WILL SURVIVE

sung by drunk, men hating fat women in karaoke bars all over the word.

Listen darlin, get your fat greasy arse in the gym, eat like Berardi, and one day men won’t leave you, till then stop fuckin singing about it.
