Morning Cereals and Bedtime Snacks?

currently i am on a restricted budget, i was hoping to get some feedback on what the best cheapest alternative for a bed time snack would be to keep me in a positvie nitrogen balance?

also, i work early in the morning, and sometimes also workout early in the morning, what are the best ideas for ready to eat cereals?

currently i supp w/ no2, Biotest creatine, fish oil, Metabolic Drive, and zma daily along with multivitamins…any help would be appreciated

I also work out early in the morning and go to the gym as soon as i get up. i was recommended to have a few BCAA’s and a banana just before the gym, and then have a good PWO meal.

For a bedtime snack you could have cottage cheese or as CT has suggested low-carb Metabolic Drive and some veg like broccoli.

normally i do eat cottage cheese, but with taking zma at night it says to not take with calcium… any other ideas

I assume that by “no2” you mean stuff made by BSN, with nitric oxide, like no-Xplode? If so, you might want to search this site for information about their products (hint - not good, and may even be dangerous - and ineffective - class-action lawsuit coming together right now).

As far as bedtime snack, just take your ZMA about an hour before your cottage cheese so that it does not affect absorption. The casein in cottage cheese digests slowly and will help prevent night-time catabolism.

For morning, best idea might be BCAAs, but the banana is pretty slow to digest so a liquid carb source might be better. Also, if you are doing cardio you might want to check out the Fasted Cardio Roundtable

Why do you think you need ZMA? Do you have reason to believe you are deficient in zinc or magnesium?

You may be better off eating the cottage cheese given the choice between the two. Food for thought.

thanks for the info guys, reason i take the zma, is for sound sleep, nothing more

A lot of people say that. I wish it worked for me that way. I got nothing out of it when I tried it.

If you are working out first thing in the morning, not that I’d ever want to do that, preworkout shake should be your first “meal” IMO.

stupid question but what is the correct serving size of Metabolic Drive the scoop seems much bigger than scoops i have used previously…is one scoop to the brim 2 servings or just 1???

when in doubt…weigh your powdered supplements
it says the serving size in grams.

Some flavors have 70cc scoop
others have 80cc

However…volume does not always guarantee weight, -these scoops usually work though
