I have just started doing 30mins of incline walking each morning before breakfast and i was wondering if you guys do cardio truly fasted or if its a good idea to have a protein shake/ amino acids before?
According to the book of Lonnie:
Amen,
I think I’ve done just about everything when it comes to “fasted cardio”. Woke up and walked out the door with a backpack full of weights, woke up and downed some bcaa’s and walked out the door, woke up and had a protein shake and walked out the door, and woke up and had a shot of olive oil and coconut oil and walked out the door. I did all those options for 2-6 weeks at a time and come to the conclusion that:
a) it doesn’t really matter what you consume, or if you consume anything doing “fasted cardio”
b) fasted cardio isn’t terribly effective for me
w) it’s kinda(very) boring

Its only 11g’s, i think it takes like 15g’s to even elicit an insulin response in the body and we aren’t talking carbs from something like maltodextrin here, the specific carbs they’ve added are said to have a pretty potent thermic effect.
But, i understand people being upset that they cannot control the amount of carbs like with the old version, but i’ve had both formulas and the new version blows the old out of the water as far as keeping you satisfied and keeping muscles fuller.
If it’s only 30 minutes, skip both protein and aminos. I like to have a cup of coffee before, that’s it
I bought powdered green tea extract and raspberry ketones, mainly for use as an antioxidant. I use 200mg of each in 1 pint of water before a morning 45-60 walk. I believe it could be a pretty effective stimulent-free, inexpensive, fat burning compound. A lot cheaper than the usual fat burning potions supplement firms rip folks off with!

Sorry to sound a bit special needs, but do you mean you bought a powdered green tea and RK supp? Or bought them separately and mixed them together in your pint of water? Sounds like it might be right up my street, so any info is appreciated.

x2 on the coffee.
And screw walking. Sprint instead.

It does not matter if it is done fasted or not because low intensity cardio is for heart, lung, and brain health and not for weight management.
Engaging in early morning fasted cardio may even have the opposite of its desired effect because of how high cortisol levels can be when lacking sufficient sleep and nutrition.
I think a walk (bike ride, etc.) in the evening after dinner is even better - especially near sundown. This will help regulate one’s circadian rhythm that helps sleep come more naturally.

I’ve been using the new versions too and they are good, but I liked it better when I got to control the amount of carbs. But it’s def easier to use and mix up. I have been going with the flow and not adding creatine or beta ala to it, but I liked it with them in. Though I understand many people have bad reactions to that suff.
Pussies…
Just kidding!
This summer I have tried fasted morning walking (30-40 mins) on 10-15% incline at 3.5mph with ~20g BCAAs 3-4x a week. In contrast, last summer I was running 3-5 miles 3-4x a week after work. With sleep and diet and lifting being the same, I have to say I was much leaner last summer and have reached the conclusion that, PERSONALLY, fasted walking is not as effective at burning fat for ME as running.
My $.02

Sorry, I missed that question or would have replied much sooner. Yes, both can be bought as separate powders in the UK very cheaply from MP. This stuff will last months and is so much more economical than commercial fatburners. I sometimes stick 200mg in my pre-WO shakes too. Given I train early evening there is a adverse effect from excessive caffiene, which is in the majority of products. Also, just as a general health measure I think it’s a useful addition to most people’s supplement programme.
