Loaded up my Ninja Woodfire XL with two chickens and smoked them

Produced a TON of meat

First time ever making pulled chicken with the brests. Stupidly simple. Plan to include this in my breakfast along with the brisket.

@simo74 I always think of you when it comes to 2 chickens, haha.

That guy was a beast and my son still talk about 2 chickens to this day. Funny how big people leave an impression on us. You are definitely up for some big gainz this week mate. Quality

Easy as. Love it.

I often chuck 7-8 chicken breasts into the slow cooker, without cutting them. And toss in a cup of beef stock or bone broth. 5-6 hours later I have the best and most simple pulled chicken on the planet haha.

@simo74 No joke: especially at young ages, big and strong people just leave impressions on us that last forever. And hell, look at happening through transitive property: I remember your 2 chickens guy now, despite having never seen him before, haha. These stories around the campfire are invaluable.

@wiseman83 Funny enough, I’ll never go out of my way to buy chicken, but in this case these chickens came from my wife’s family’s farm and have been sitting in my freezer for a long time waiting for a reason to get prepared. I’m the real big meat eater in the house, so it’s been hard to find reasons to make a lot of these, but now that I’m including other meat in my breakfast I’m finally clearing out my freezer.

AM WORKOUT (0900)

TACTICAL BARBELL MASS PROTOCOL GREY MAN

Operation MILO Cycle 1, Week 2, Workout 6

EMOM Stone of Steel over bar

10 minutes
160lb stone
50ā€ bar
4 reps on first 2 rounds, 3 reps for remainder

Notes:

  • Very first round my lower back felt stiff, but after that came back into my own. Really getting a solid conditioning hit out of this. Nice to let the weight be a little lighter.
  • Also got in some general activity today with lawn care and my morning push ups and squat
  • Keg carry weight wax 190lbs

Operation MILO Nutritional SITREP

Breakfast was 2 omelets w/3 pastured eggs, wagyu grassfed beef tallow, some Keystone canned beef (it’s great in a pinch: just beef and salt, tastes like pot roast) and some tillamook cheddar cheese, alongside a grassfed beef polish sausage and 4 strips of beef bacon.

Dinner was 6 2oz burger patties from Culver’s with 3 packs of butter spread between them all (half a pack each). Went out for dinner and kept it simple.

This felt good. As much as I enjoy the pork ribs at my favorite local BBQ place, and love supporting them in general, I always feel gross after eating that much pork. The beef kind of resets me.

Notes:

  • Took the day off work, slept in and got this knocked out with the kiddo and Valkyrie had lunch.
  • Heaviest week and fewest reps, it moves fast. 2 minutes rest between sets on main cluster, 1 minute for everything else.
  • Went without weight on the sit-ups. I get a better ROM that way.
  • Putting the bar pretty high on my back for the squats for as long as I can get away with it.
  • Really trying to focus on pulling with my back on the rows. Could feel my right elbow being a little sensitive, so I’ll keep an eye on that.
  • Already did my keg carry today, 192.5lbs.

How’s this feeling at this point? Feeling like you’re growing with it, or are the increments starting to get noticeable?

Great question! I meant to log how it’s actually feeling LIGHTER than when I started.

No photos of breakfast. We went out to First Watch, and I got an omelet with bacon, sausage, ham, cheddar and Monterey jack cheese topped with sour cream and butter along with 2 eggs sunny side up, 2.5 pork sausages, and a fair amount of butter on it’s own. This was a result of the family all dividing their meals (I traded my fruit and toast for eggs and sausage).

For dinner, we went to Texas Roadhouse. I got 2 bowls of hardboiled eggs for my side with some sour cream and a 26oz bone in ribeye, cooked rare, no seasoning.

It was my kid’s last day of summer break, so we did it big. And this shows how easy it is to eat carnivore while eating out. But what’s also cool is, despite eating out, I am honestly really excited to eat the meals I made for this week. That’s the best kind of diet: one where you are excited to eat the foods you are ā€œsupposed toā€ eat.

ā€œROW ROW ROW YOUR BLOATā€

21 minute low intensity row

Notes:

  • Just getting in the work here. Keeping intensity low and recovering from training. Body feeling pretty good. This tends to make my hips ache a little, just because it’s a lot of sitting for 1 time.
  • Didn’t weigh in yesterday, since it was weird schedule wise. Weighed in this morning at 82.8kg Quite a jump, but I don’t normally do Tuesday weigh ins, and I ate out quite a bit, so I’m not going to consider it a relevant datapoint.
  • Tang Soo Do tonight. Family seems healthy enough that we should be able to make it.

@EmilyQ Thanks so much! It’s still a lot of coughing and nose blowing, but the geneal mood is good.

Forgot to take a photo of dinner, but it was 3 1/3lb grassfed burger patties, 3 sunny side up pastured eggs and 5 whites

Notes:

  • 2 minutes rest between bench, 1 min for rest of workout, 12 deep breaths between pulls on mat pulls
  • Unlike last week, my knee wasn’t feeling super awesome before this workout, but just the normal amount of discomfort. But, in turn, my mat pulls felt much stronger this week compared to last week. Interesting how that works out.
  • Lever belt squats were quite challenging. I want to bring back something to reach out and hold onto to help keep my posture upright. I’ll have to remember that next workout.
  • Dips were challenging as well. Weights seem well dialed in for this workout in general.
  • Keg carry yesterday was 193.5lbs. Tang Soo Do wasn’t too terribly challenging of a workout. We have one more class tonight, then skipping Thursday’s class and our belt test on Saturday.

The DL bar went from 1 to 4 plates like magic! May be a silly Q but do you build up to the main DL lift with some reps with 1, 2, 3 plates first?

@raven78 Yeah, to keep the video length reasonable, I cut out the build ups. I do 2-3 reps with 1 plate, 1-2 with 2 plates and 1 rep with 3.

Operation MILO Nutritional SITREP

Breakfast was the same as yesterday. Dinner was 1lb of America Wagyu 80/20 ground beef, a Don Lee farms chicken breast patty, 3 whole eggs covered in ground beef drippings and 5 egg whites.

ā€œGO RUCK YOURSELFā€

Treadmill walk w/20.4lb tac vest

Speed: 3.5mph
Incline: 4.0
Distance: 5.25 miles
Time: 90 minutes

Notes:

  • This felt much better than last week. Far less awareness throughout the process: was able to just shut off my mind and go for a walk. Right calf is kinda bunched up and crampy: most likely dehydrated.
  • Took my Thursday weigh in at 80.8kg, which is a 2kg drop from Tuesday but also a .2kg increase from last week, so I’m moving in the right direction, slowly but surely. It is nuts given the sheer volume of food I’m eating. It times out well, as my kid is now walking to school vs my driving them there, because my breakfasts are taking longer to eat these days and I’m making use of the extra time. I remember having a similar issue with Deep Water: you just run out of time to eat all the food you need to eat.
  • Tang Soo Do was an ok workout last night. Nothing too strenuous, but got the heart rate up. Which, speaking of, still clocking in around 37-39 for RHR.
  • Keg carry weight yesterday was 195lbs. 20lbs up from the start of this process.

I’m interested to see the takeaways at the end of this experiment. I’ve been watching a ton of Brian Alsruhe videos lately and he swears that carries are pretty much the answer to all of life’s problems.

Good stuff happening in here as usual!

Much appreciated dude! I’ve really enjoyed having a daily carry in my life, and including it in this manner has been a fun experiment. It’s interesting undertaking a project that I KNOW will fail, but I kinda see it like one of those ā€œdefend the castleā€ games, where failure is inevitable: just a matter of seeing who can hold out the longest.

Pairing it during a weight gaining phase is just absolutely perfect. It’s like I have to race the keg to see who gets heavier first, haha. This would be much worse otherwise.

Breakfast was the same as before. Dinner was another leftovers night, 2 piedmontese grassfed 1/3lb burger patties, one costco grassfed 1/3lb burger patty, a grassfed beef polish sausage, 3 pastured eggs and 5 whites. That’s also the meal I had on Tuesday that I forgot to take a photo of.
