Is there anything this man cannot do
Big props from you my man! Iāve just got no quit in me, haha. Losing is too foreign.
Not lose. Oh he said it first though.
@tlgains No shame in hearing it twice!
Alright, training-wise, once again slept until about 0730 and immediately upon feet hitting the floor got in my 300 squats and push ups in under 9 minutes, had that fantastic breakfast and then took the dog for a 2 mile walk while I wore my 50lb weight vest. Lots of good eating along the way. Thinking a 20 minutes circuit will close out my day if I find the time.
Soothsaying: got 1 more week of Feast, and from there I think Iām gonna give this a full run and dive right back into Famine. Iām gonna play around with the nutrition a bit. Iāll have some days that are almost entirely shakes, and other days that are SUPER lean protein (piedmontese steak and egg whites) for my meals. Keeping the āprotein sparring modified fastā element to it while also carrying forward the carnivore thing Iām on, because Iām honestly firing on all cylinders right now and the only reason I have to change anything is because Chaos is the Plan and I donāt want to adapt.
In THAT regard: to further prevent adaptation, I feel like the next logical move is to change the movements of Famine while keeping the core the same. Conjugate max effort style: rotate stuff out to keep from going stale. So let me see what Iām up to in the next few weeks
Day 6 is ādealers choiceā, so Iām not gonna detail that out.
DAY 1
-
Iāve been consistent with log and axle here. Keg just called right out to me, so that might be what we do. Otherwise, thereās the trap bar. THAT one I wonāt clean off the floor, so thereās the limiting factor. I suppose thereās always good old fashioned honest to goodness barbell work too.
-
Iāve discovered I CAN incline bench pretty well with my rack now, so that opens some stuff up. Might throw some bands on there for some chaos.
-
Gonna stick with that viking press set-up Iāve been using for the machine press, weighted dips will remain weighted dips. Bis and tri superset might go with bands vs cables.
DAY 2
-
Letās use the SSB front squat this time. Or buffalo bar, if elbows are feeling good.
-
Stick with viking row
-
GHRs instead of leg curls
DAY 3
- Will move it to the weekend like last time, run days 4-6 instead.
DAY 4
-
This is pretty āthou shaltā looking. I could throw in barbell or swiss bar instead of axle, or close grip it.
-
Still liking behind the neck press here, but maybe that means itās time for actual military press
-
Rest will most likely remain the same
DAY 5
-
Trap bar rows, no question. Those are working out awesomely.
-
Iām thinking now make this the buffalo bar and the first day the SSB front squat. Be good to force myself to squat deep with the buffalo bar. Get rid of some ego.
-
Maybe actually do some cable rows this time. I technically have a set-up for it.
Iāve got even more Iād like to Soothsay, but this is a good start.
I legit was so excited about dinner I forgot to take a photo. I had a grassfed sirloin and some egg whites, but the crowning achievement was a ribeye from my wifeās family farm that I inherited. It was amazing, and the first ribeye Iāve had in 2 years. Details to follow on that in an upcoming post, but allow me to post the training that occurred while waiting for my grill to warm up
Tabata interval burpees, with 80lb swings on the rests. 4 burpees per round. Itās enough.
Miss a few days on this log, come back and youāve eaten ALL the things. So much protein. Leave some for us ![]()
We continue to lurk and look on in aweā¦
You inherited a farm? That is awesome. Time for ALL THE STEAK
I inherited a steak, haha. And some other choice meats.
@raven78 A VERY pointed observation. Itās what Iām about to post aboutā¦
LONG RANT AHEAD
Holy cow this song is so relevant.
@EmilyQ Iām hoping youāll be proud of me.
I legit brokedown on my ride home from bringing home Qādoba today, and in a good way. I had on a Kid Rock song I used to listen to in high school, the sun was shinning, it was a beautiful day, and I realized that, for the first time in a LONG time: I was happy. Not content, not at peace, not carrying on, but actually, legitimately happy. Joyous. Excited.
And the biggest change is that Iām finally eating the way that MAKES SENSE.
3 years ago I convinced myself that meat was the enemy. Prior to that moment, a serving of meat, to me, was at least 16oz. I suddenly transitioned to a world where 4oz was the standard.
I was starving. Meat was the basis of my nutrition prior to that moment. And without that basis, my bodyweight went into a free fall, hitting an all time low of 177lbs. I was absolutely jacked, yeah, but I was weak, starved, and scared.
I sought ANYTHING to fill the gap of meat, and was eating SO many science experiments, Frankenfoods, and starvation foods. And I thought I was thriving. I thought I was eating big. Iāve posted these meals before
That was a breakfast for me.
There is TWO ounces of meat in that. The rest is egg whites colored to look like real eggs, avocado, fat free sour cream, fat free cheese, a low carb tortilla that achieved ālow carbā through all sorts of science alongside that keto bread with bastardized nut butters and sunflower seed butter, and then fat free greek yogurt mixed with all sorts of things.
I was trying to find ANYTHING to fill the hole in my body and my spirit that was left behind from the absence of the meat.
And as I wrote before: I was literally eating ALL DAY like that. I was ALWAYS hungry. I was a starving animal, trapped in a prison of my own creation.
I was always waiting for the next opportunity to eat, only to be incredibly disappointed. I would get sad once breakfast was over, because I knew I had to wait to eat again, and I knew it wouldnāt be rewarding. And Iād get sad at the end of the day, after eating my MASSIVE āend of day mealā
Because, once again, I knew I was going to go to bed STILL hungry and wake up the next morning starving.
Super Squats was absolutely the right choice in this capacity, as it forced me to come to a head on the whole matter. Once it was done, I was the biggest and strongest Iād ever been and was also absolutely wrecked and needed a change. I hoped on the Velocity Diet/Apex Predator Diet hybrid Iāve written about, and it was the start of freeing myself. I had permission to deviate, because someone else had the plan: I just had to follow it. And things like Superfood and Flameout gave me the assurance that Iād be ok, nutritionally.
And having ONE HSM a day (or two) taught me prioritization. And knowing that I had my basis covered from the supplements, I could prioritize meat. And, in the Apex Predator case: it was actually the marching order. Roger that.
And from that Iāve been going further and further down the carnivore rabbitholeā¦and the deeper I dig, the BETTER I feel.
Because I am finally being authentic. I am, after 3 years, finally being WHO I am. I am a meateater. I am a being that eats meat. I THRIVE on meat. That is what powers my body. It is the celebration of a good hunt. We eat that OTHER stuff when there is no meat around: it should NOT be the basis of my diet.
Iāve basically been living in disharmony for 3 years. Iāve been fighting being my authentic self: forcing myself to live a lie. In turn, all the things that used to work for me worked against me. My mandatory 3-5 minutes of training a day was KILLING me. Iāve stopped doing it. I no longer feel compelled to do it. IF I do training like that, itās a choice. These things were an albatross around my neck, and now theyāre my allies once again.
And everything is reflecting as such. Iām training less and getting MORE results. My body hurts less. I am lean and strong without effort.
And I eat until I am satisfied, and then I donāt need to eat again. Iām not food seeking. Iām not tinkering in the kitchen. Iām not snacking and grazing.
THIS MAKES SENSE. This makes SO MUCH goddamn sense. Itās how itās SUPPOSED to be. You eat until you are satisfied, you stop eating, you wait until you are hungry, then you eat again.
I could never get tired of eating this way. This is NOT a compromise. I am not without. I have my weekly Rampage, and itās rare that Iām eating foods that I feel I have been ādeniedā when I do it: I use it as an opportunity to enjoy food SOCIALLY with my family. I have the experience of the shared yummy cuisine, and then I get back on with what makes sense.
Honestly, I could just keep on writing about this, and I want to get more of this down, but this has just been so huge for me.
Just caught up with your blog and read the write up of the Stellanator challenge. Seriously good job with getting through it mate, that was a lot of food in one sitting.
Skim watched the video and 2 things really stand out. 1. That was a absolute truck load of onions. Pretty sure my guts would not be happy with all that. and 2. you barely drank any liquids throughout this challenge. I have only done a couple of these type of challenges in the past and would always end up taking on water with the buns and fries to make a mush and help get it down. To eat that with only a few mouthfuls of diet soda was crazy.
@simo74 Much appreciated dude! It appears I approach all challenges the same: chaos is the plan! Haha. Iāve just never cared to drink while eating. I find it dilutes the flavor of the food, and I enjoy the food FAR more than the drink.

Notes:
-
Holy cow bands are awesome and intense. I really appreciate bringing them into this movement. Overcoming them at the start is a challenge and it just builds the whole time, but I feel like Iām beating up my body less compared to using just straight weight. Set up is a lot faster too. And no expectations going in: I donāt get in my head regarding plate weight.
-
Tore through this workout because my work schedule is going to be crazy and I wanted to get in as much as I can. Great to be in such awesome shape to make it happen. That circuit of GHRs, push ups and squats is clutch, especially when done quickly. And my hamstrings are torched for days afterwards.
-
Had enough time to get in SOME walking, so I made the most of it. Used a different vest and got in what I could. If I can, Iāll get in 2 miles of normal walking later, but if need be Iāll add some more later.
-
Got more I want to write: will have to do it when I have the time.
Thanks man. I think the surface space is a no-go for me. Iām going to pull the trigger on one of the bigger pellet grills. Iām educating myself this week!
