More Trouble Than I Am Worth: Chaos Is The Plan (T3hPwnisher Log)

Notes:

  • Not sure what was up this morning but I was feeling beat to Hell, and on the first rep of the warm-up with the empty log I blacked out. Blacked out on the next warm-up. Blacked out on the 2 attempts at a workset. Decided to shut it down and go with the axle. I was lightheaded with that, but not blacking out. Curious if my resting heart rate has dropped on me again. My bodyweight is stupid low, as is my bodyfat, so there might be something going on there.

  • Still brought it today. Full effort. Went EMOM until I couldn’t with the axle, with a bunch of bruising on the gut to show for it. Added weight everywhere else, kept rest times short and got in a lot of quality work. That Tabata approach is really something, and my right knee is actually feeling a bit better.

AMAZING DAY WITH KID UPDATE

  • It started off with this

  • Took my kid on a full adventure today, with me as their berserker guide/companion.

  • First, we exercised our noble animal companion. I donned my armor of +40lbs for our 2 mile quest. Upon our return, we constructed a grimoire that had all we needed to construct some ā€œWizard and Warrior Wafflesā€. This included oil of duck (spray duck fat, really leaning into this carnivore thing) and fluid most fowl (liquid egg whites) among other cuteness (ā€œmagical mix-insā€ for my kiddo were peanut butter chips). My kid’s waffles were birthcake sprinkles with peanut butter chips that we spread a layer of peanut butter on to make into a sandwich. For myself, I had my first attempt at chaffles. The appearance left something to be desired, but the taste was amazing

  • 2 of those are egg white, one is whole eggs (Pasture raise), the whole eggs are topped with grassfed butter, and for cheese I used grassfed swiss.

  • After that, we enjoyed 2 episodes of the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon on youtube (it’s 40 years old this year, how wild) before we had our next surprise…NUNCHUCKS!

  • Yes, I got 2 sets: rope for the kid, chain for me…the mrs can have her pick when she gets home. We played around with those for a while, getting in our weapons training in case we encountered goblins (my kid may be a wizard, but nunchucks are a universal language), then had some lunch. I regaled my kiddo with stories of Ninjas that were teenagers AND turtles that enjoyed pizza…so that’s what my kid dined on. I had some leftover chicken drummies and wings.

  • After that, we engaged in a quest to do good: I took a lot of the ā€œfake foodā€ I had in my pantry/basement and donated it to the local foodbank. I’m not gonna eat it, and it should make someone happy. And despite being a berserker, I still have some good in me.

  • Yet another highlight was my Biotest order coming in. More Spike and more Metabolic Drive. Woo!

  • We still have Tang Soo Do on the horizon and I’ve got another fantastic carnivore meal planned, but this has just been a soul enriching day. This is what I live for. I’m living again.

Edit: Little more Carnivore porn. Made some piedmontese grassfed kabob gyros

Egg white wraps, egg whites, grassfed cottage cheese. Had another one of them and one rogue kabob

Slept until 0700 after staying up until 0145 with the Mrs while she wrote a paper for her second masters. Got in 300 push ups and 300 squats in under 8:30 using tabatas. Did 20 squats on the 20 for 15 rounds and 15 push ups on the 10s. After getting all the squats in, I just knocked out tge 75 remaining push ups as fast as possible

Pure carnivore breakfast.

2 egg/1 white omelet with grassfed swiss and butter, with grassfed steak and chicken bacon mixed in and topped with grassfed sour cream. 6 paleo chicken sausages. 1 chicken patty. 1 cinnamon egg wrap with graasfed cottage cheese and cinnamon. Double serving of coffee. Absolutely fantastic

Thinking about grabbing some of those egg wraps next time I’m at the store, you have a flavor recommendation or would you stick the regular version to start?

These days I veer toward as little artifical flavor as possible, but they are all pretty clutch

And rounding out with an amazing carnivore dinner out with the family

Don’t mind that green stuff: didn’t touch it. But that’s actually an appetizer that I ordered two of: one served as an appetizer, the other an entrĆ©e. ā€œHimalayan pork ribsā€. They were amazing. Paired with more black coffee and half of my wife’s crab cake. Once again: eating until I’m done, walking away satisfied. No more eating the bare minimum amount of meat and trying to fill up on non-meat and walking away hungry/seeking snacks through the evening.

This is what living is supposed to feel like.

EDIT: Forgot to log that I also got in a 2 mile walk with the 40lb vest and the family. Honestly awesome. We were originally going for 1.5 miles but the wife said ā€œYou need 2 miles a day right?ā€ It’s amazing she tracks that stuff.

Holy cow this was like living 3 days in one today.

Woke up at 0700 via alarm because the Mrs had a flight to catch. Got in 300 push ups and 300 squats in under 8:30 using tabata intervals.

Got in a Costco run and had my mini-rampage. Because I’m doing that burger challenge on Thurs, I didn’t feel a need to go excessively crazy, but I DID want to top off some carbs, because I can’t deny the benefit of doing that each week. I settled on a Hotdog, slice of Pepperoni Pizza and half a churro. The big thing was: I got to share this meal with my kiddo. Can’t tell you the last time we got to have a Costco meal together without me being a martyr about it. This has just been awesome.

Got home, walked the dog for 2 miles with a 50lb weighted vest on (added 10lbs), then kept it on and mowed my lawn and did some more yardwork. Kept the strava app on the whole time and logged 2hr 52 min of activity for 5.52 miles with a weighted vest on.

Then came meal prep. I was knocking it out bit by bit today, but the afternoon was huge. Broke out my Ninja outdoor grill for the first time

Air fried a whole chicken

As you can see, it actually didn’t fit there, so I had to spatchcock it and THEN re-attempt.

But it turned out awesome

In the middle of that, my kiddo made their own Meatbolic Drive cheesecake cookies, which they absolutely love. I also tried to make some fat-free cheese chaffles based on an online recipe and they turned out as a disaster, but we met our end goal of chicken and waffles/chaffles for dinner

End shot here of my meal with the sour cream on top

I then took stock of my carnivore meal prep for the week

Top left is grassfed beef liver which turned out so good I had to cut myself off to prevent vitamin A toxicity, bottom left is grassfed stir fry meat, bottom center is grassfed kabobs, top center is chicken tenderoloins, bottom right is pasture raised scrambled eggs, top right is remainder of chicken.

Packed lunch for the week: steak and eggs baby! …with some liver and chicken as needed And snacks of tenderloins and liver

I am BEAT. I get to train in 6 hours. Squats lead the way!

This is awesome!

I’m curious, how do you cook the liver? I want to eat it, but yet to come up with a way I like it prepared.

Also totally going to steal the weight vest yard work idea, I spent 4 hrs in the garden on Saturday and should have weight vest’d (pretty sure that’s a word) that activity.

@Deadliftnstill Hey thanks man! I wanna walk even more about that day when I get the chance because it was absolutely ridiculous, haha.

For the liver: I soaked it in a bath of egg whites and a splash of milk, pat it dry with paper towels, cut it up small, sprayed it with some duck fat and hit it hard with greek gyro seasoning. Very yummy.

And steal away! That was a great ā€œnon-exercise activityā€ session.

BREAKFAST/DRIVE TO WORK

Brisk 2 mile walk

Notes:

  • Despite my insane day yesterday, this went awesome. My knee and hip feel fantastic, with only a slight twinge on set 11. I made it a goal to move fast through this workout and it paid off. Caught myself quick counting the 10 seconds at the top a few times, so good to keep that awareness. The calf raises are still murder with the tight knee sleeves.

  • Really focusing on keeping my knees as straight as possible on those GMs and it seems to get me a lot for my investment.

  • That conditioning circuit at the end was absolutely balller. 225 GHRs: I’m gonna feel that.

  • My walk was invigorating. Completely unintentional, but I’ve been using these walks as an opportunity to engage in a lot of positive self-talk. And the truth is: my life is honestly fantastic, and as much as I’d hate to tie it all to nutritional intervention, that’s a BIG part of it. I am finally eating in a manner that is at peace with who I am, and resolving that dissonance has really just let me be at peace in general. I’ll be on these walks talking about just how happy I am with my life, my family, my time.

  • Gonna try to run the sled while my kiddo does sports practice tonight. That worked out well last week.

Got in a 20 min sled workout. Litvi-swings. 8 kb swings w/40kg bell, backwards drag, swings, forward drag.

  • 5 chins (various grips)

BREAKFAST/DRIVE TO WORK

2+ mile brisk walk

Notes:

  • While the Mrs is away my mornings are a bit more manic, so I’m shortening workouts where I can here while keeping everything in. Touch and go bench is faster to set up and execute than dead bench. That said, I think I’ve got a great 3 week wave here. 1st week is dead bench, second is dead against bands, 3rd is touch and go. I could do some reverse bands to seal the deal if I wanted. While I was running Famine, 300lbs was destroying me. Today, I absolutely owned it. Yeah, there were some struggle reps, it was ALSO done with stupid short rests while my hands were f**king bleeding because the cuts on them kept opening back up, haha. I am getting stupidly strong while losing fat and hitting anatomy chart levels of leanness. This is nuts.

  • Dips saw a slight decrease in performance, which I’m willing to take given the sheer beating I’d administered with the benching leading up to it, and how my hands weren’t 100% there.

  • I was dying on those military presses. Had just given my all.

  • That Tabata circuit really is the new way forward. Today, I really had to push hard to stick with 20s and 15s. It keeps me honest. And it becomes it’s own workout. But I, in turn, found myself with a little bit of a time surplus, so I tacked on that 8 minute finisher. Never even realized that this was a total Dan John approved workout. Push and squat, then hinge and pull, and I’ll get in my loaded carries later with a weighted vest walk. Rock on.

  • In that regard, when I re-run Famine, I feel like 300 swings a day on top of the other stuff makes SO much sense. It fits the whole ā€œrepetitive motionā€ aspect Jamie is going for, and the swings are a great balance for the push ups and the squats. Since I can get the push ups and squats knocked out in about 8:30 these days, it’d probably be like 15-18 minutes total of daily work.

  • While I’m in a strategizing mode, plan for the next few days: gonna make tomorrow ā€œDealer’s choiceā€, since I have to get to work stupid early. Will get in mat pulls, push ups, squats, and a weighted vest walk as the minimum. The next day I’m taking off of work and it’s the day of the 5lb burger challenge, so I’m gonna train and fast all day. I’ll open up with the squats and shrugs workout, mow lawns with a weighted vest and take care of some grocery shopping/chores, and then in the afternoon take on the press and bench workout. I’m gonna go with Metabolic Drive shakes all day leading up to the event, as the liquid won’t take up and stomach real-estate. Those two workouts are brutal, and will really have my body just gasping for nutrients. I’ll get in a walk with the dog/kiddo in the evening as well, and use activity to distract me from hunger through the day. I wanna show up absolutely ravenous. Maybe I’ll get in some sled work for the cherry on top.

  • Just can’t get over how amazing everything is. Totally unrelated but wanted to log it here: I saw Jon Andersen meal prep a bunch of egg whites by pouring them into a slow cooker and cooking it for 4 hours. I wanna steal that. I think you could do that to make a breakfast scramble.

PM update

1.5 mile dog walk w/50lb vest

Still eating until I’m done. This was my dinner tonight

Half a chicken, egg whites, sour cream.

Super blown away by my kid though. Our project tonight was for them to make their full dinner meal. They made a quesadilla burger w/Havarti cheese, a hashbrown and some no sugar added applesauce

Teaching them how to cook it was a blast, and I love the independence they are developing from it. Being able to cook is freedom. You get to set the terms of how you live. Earlier this week they made Metabolic Drive protein cheesecake cookies

What a fantastic dessert. Completely parental guilt free for them to eat something like that, and they love it.

Great times all around in the household.

AM WORKOUT (0345 natural wake up)

PLAGUE OF STRENGTH’S ā€œFEASTā€ ROUTINE Week 3, Workout 3 ā€œDealer’s Choiceā€. FED: 1 scoop of metabolic drive w/raw egg at 2345, egg whites upon waking

(3) Texas Deadlift Bar Mat Pulls
11+5+4x405+chains

Straight into 2 mile walk w/50lb vest (average pace 3.0 mph)

Straight into Tabata intervals squat/push ups (20 squats on the 20s/15 push ups on the 10s) for 15 rounds, then remainder of push ups done for sub 9 minute total

Notes:

  • What an absolutely fantastic morning workout. I had to get to work early today and work longer hours, so I shifted the schedule around to get this in and hit all my daily requirements. This was almost a full on Dan John approved workout too: heavy hinge, weighted carry, push and squat. Just needs some pulls, and I was contemplating chins, but schedule worked the way it did.

  • Weighed in a 185.3, 3lbs up from last week, FINALLY gaining weight on the feast, and still getting stupidly lean. I’ll be really pushing it to the limit with the eating challenge tomorrow: I’m so excited for that.

  • Tang Soo Do tonight for a little extra activity.
