Have taken the time to check out the blog and the latest post is essentially a condensed version of what I should’ve discovered when I started lifting, when l had a 20 year old head on a 30 year old body (have started to figure this stuff out, mind). Great write up.
@The_Myth You have no idea how much I appreciate whenever you swing by my neck of the logs. You are the Gandalf to my Bilbo. Glad you dug the belt write-up as well. It’s been a trip to re-discover this all. And thanks for the heads up on the treatment! I actually haven’t done any research on the subject, so that’s amazing to hear. I’m an obsessive type, and I know that if I start reading I’ll get WAY too involved in the process. Right now, I’m turning the reigns over to the medical team, but with a hopefully healthy degree of skepticism.
@ChongLordUno Hell yeah brother! Glad to hear my evil influence hasn’t left too much poison, haha. You’re absolute living proof of it all.
@Orro19 Appreciate having you as a reader dude! Maturity can really go a long way.
AM WORKOUT (0438 natural wake up) FASTED
3 rounds of Armor Bearer
• 21 ABCs in the first round, 18 in the second (3-4-3-3-5), 14 in the final (2-3-2-2-5)
• Bears were all over the place

Man, maybe I REALLY need to call this workout “taking my medicine” because every time I do it I don’t want to, and every time it’s done I’m glad I did it. But, in truth, that’s EVERY workout between the Super Squats ones, which is most likely why you were never supposed to train between those workouts in the first place.
-
Hamstring continues to mend well. I can trigger pain in it if I seek to, but otherwise normal movement doesn’t cause issues.
-
Hitting this workout first thing in the morning while fasted remains a significant gut check. But it honestly is a fast moving 30 minutes. Constantly changing up the workout and having short goals really goes a long way. Psychologically, this is so much easier compared to a straight 30 minute EMOM or 60 tabata rounds.
-
No real additional training plan from here. Going out to eat for dinner. Good season.
-
Still amazed at how my body is finally responding to training and nutrition. It’s amazing for all this food and all this training to actually result in something.

The squats continue to improve, and it’s too the point that I need to exercise caution, as I can feel myself loosening up on those earlier reps in an attempt to speed through them, which is just the thing that will tear up some connective tissue. I’m still wrapping the hamstring, but more for the sake of “we’re so close to the finish-line, let’s not screw it up” vs any real need. I have minimal pain in the squats, and post squats there’s some swelling and tightness but all very manageable. I have determined that my left shoulder is beat up BECAUSE I’m holding this squat position for so long, so after this phase of SS it’d probably be a good idea to rotate some time between SSB and front squats alongside squats, but I’ve absolutely got 1 more in me.
-
I’m at the point where I get to rep 20 and THEN the “real work” begins. That is absolutely f–king insane. I’m also finally getting to the point where muscles are what are limiting me vs connective tissue. I had to take 4 breaths on the last few reps.
-
Really happy with how I closed out press. That’s 35lbs higher than where I started the program. Also happy that this was my final bent over row workout, because I absolutely despise that exercise. Also, 3x10x100lb on dips is clutch. The fact all my bodyweight based work kept improving was a good sign to me that weight gain was fairly distributed.
-
Conditioning had to be on the shorter side due to time. I’m getting more sleep than before, and that’s the tradeoff, which is worthwhile. I have Tang Soo Do later tonight, should find out the results of my belt test and hopefully get in an ok workout. May not get more conditioning beyond that, but I’m at peace with that.

1 more workout to go. This has been an awesome run.
EDIT:
Actually, this is something I wanted to log. We went out to look at Christmas lights at our neighborhood last night, which is a tradition of ours. Part of that tradition includes eating at the same McDonalds that we ate at the very first night we arrived in town at this location. My relationship with food has been messed up every since I got the elevated LDL diagnosis, and trips to McDonalds had become a nightmare for me, with me basically ordering Chicken nuggets and pulling off all the breading.
Last night, I got a double quarter pounder, no cheese. I ate it without the bread, yes, but I had no qualms with it being grainfed beef, with it having 2g of transfats, with it having a large amount of saturated fats: it was just beef. I ate it, enjoyed the flavor, and was satiated. Didn’t binge on a bunch of them or feel a need to course correct.
I actually feel like food is finally working WITH me vs against me.

I see the resemblance
I have watched a few of your videos and I notice you always go to the bench, lay down, and lower and raise the weight over your head after you do squats. What is the significance of this? Part of the workout? Breathing?
Those are the pull-overs that I have in the video title/training log, which are a crucial part of the Super Squats program. You do them immediately after the squats as a rib cage expansion protocol.
Understood. Thank you sir.
Those extra reps must be building patience as well as muscle. I was expecting a “dude read the book” !!
LOL
This made me smile the most. Quality
@LoganAY For sure dude!
@simo74 Always appreciate the support. And, in full disclosure, my tolerance and mood are in a total 180 these days, which I attribute significantly to my treatment…but some Super Squats also solves everything, haha.
I wondered why mine was dramatically declining… the world in balance
Got back from the docs. 108/47 for BP with a RHR of 50, which is just nuts.
All signs are good. Test results good. We are pushing forward with treatment indefinitely. Great place to be.
Did you run into any issues with getting your healthcare to cover TRT? Heard mixed reports on that
Amazingly none. Very minor bureaucratic whickets to navigate which delayed my prescription by a day but otherwise start to finish was smooth.
I’m both surprised and very happy to hear that. Really would like to check that out, will have to see if I can get a referral. Thanks!
Hope it goes well dude. I imagine the combination of symptoms and lab results helped push my case along. There was zero doubt in anyone’s mind that this was what I needed.
I thoroughly enjoy your ramblings on here. With my recent trap bar purchase, I found my eyes getting bigger and bigger as I read this. You have my attention. Also, being an open trap bar, I’m picturing some sort of clean/curl motion that would allow me to get it overhead for the pressing portion. Hmmm…
Beyond just commenting on the above, your work ethic continues to impress me and I’m glad that you’ve been able to get and keep your health where it should be. It is pretty incredible what the body can do when you have a mind like yours that can push it to these limits! Nothing but respect.
My mother-in-law makes this in large batches (7 loaves) very frequently. She brings a loaf wherever she goes to give to friends/family. It is delicous on its own, with some butter, as a sandwich, toasted, etc. She also started making some sourdough crackers made with rosemary and seasalt (and I’m sure more, that’s just what I could see/taste), a nice little snack.
@cyclonengineer Forgot to comment, but so happy you picked up the reference there!
@littlesleeper Always a treat when you drop by dude! Glad you enjoyed the ramblings, and your respect means a ton. You’re definitely a dude that “gets it”. That sourdough hook-up is sure to trigger some anabolism as well, haha.
Got in TABEARTA after Tang Soo Do tonight, the latter of which was focused on learning new techniques…because the whole family got their new belts! My kid made it a goal to make green belt before the end of the year as their 2022 resolution: I am so proud of them.
Excellent! That’s so amazing, man. Kudos to all of you.
We really shouldn’t talk about it…
