More Planet Fitness Hilarity

Can’t imagine why PF would delete the video… if anything, it helps them by bolstering their claims that “meathead” gyms are the places avoid if you don’t want to be laughed at for aiming to get “toned up for summer” (which, let’s be honest, must be a huge portion of the PF clientele) or shat on for not knowing the basics.

It looks like a sick gym, though I say that from a weight lifter’s perspective. From the POV of someone whom PF would cater to, all it does is reinforce the idea that I’d get laughed at by bigger guys for asking newb questions or for having differing goals.

While it’s a great emotional response (“Yeah? Well, we don’t want you, either!”), if it was REALLY meant to be anti-PF ammo rather than something for regular weight lifter’s to high-five over, it could have been tweaked to be more effective. Not so much that bigger guys are there to hold you hand, but that they can be a valuable resource if you are willing to seek serious feedback and don’t give a shit what you come in looking like as long as you are willing to bust ass.

Of course, I’m sure the commercial was made more to promote the gym than combat the stereotypes, so it does that well. I thought it was a well-done parody and should attract the type of people they actually want to have lifting there.

That was one hell of an analysis.

…and for once, I agree with him. I don’t give a shit about fat people who need to be babied…but making a video that acts just like they pretend we all do is just playing right into their hands.

I don’t laugh at fat people in the gym. If anyone gets laughed at, it’s the skinny out of shape people who have been training there for 5 years or more but look the same or worse…and that is just because it baffles me how someone could spend that much time at the gym and make ZERO progress.

After I saw that Wild Iron Gym thing and noticed that they were in my PA, I looked them up. To my disappointment, they’re on the other side of the motherfucking state!!! :frowning:

Their facebook page is hilarious.

Link the fb?

Under the wall tab.

They are getting a lot of hate from different lifting communities. It’s actually outnumbering the real customers that like the place.

I just looked at the other thread and realized it was pretty much a rehash of the Orlando Barbell video that was posted. Derp.

edit: and it was also linked on this very page. lulz

Has anyone heard the radio commercials? It makes fun of “meatheads” with lines like…

If you have a tattoo of you biceps on your biceps, PF is not your gym.
If your BMI is higher then your IQ, PF is not your gym.

I was driving in the car screaming at my radio cause I wanted to punch PF in da face.

I immediately ranted on facebook about this injustice. Here’s what I think…

* If your idea of "free weights" involves a yard sale, Planet Fitness is your gym.

* If your IQ is higher then your bench press, squat, and/or deadlift, Planet Fitness is your gym.

* If you bought the ShakeWeight to "tone" your upper body, Planet Fitness is your gym.

People are seriously getting wussified…go home and play with your ShakeWeight you damn weak-minded pusscakes!

I feel much better now. Thx T-Nation.

Their facebook page is hilarious. Fully loaded with miscers. “you mirin my aesthetics?”

Priceless. It’s a constant flood.

there are some awesome posts on their FB page. My fave so far:

“I just took a dump at planet fitness and lost more weight than all the members combined that day. Mind=Blown”

I literally LOLed

Someone just posted they took a shit on the floor and smeared it on the bar to get a solid grip for deadlifting…They’re going to have to hire an entire Indian call center to mod through all that shit.

Dude people have completely bombed that page

Awesome, I hate PF

Planet Fitness Sales Pitch

Wow… they’re really getting shredded on their facebook page. I’d join in the fun, but I have a feeling that joining PF’s FB page would cause my test levels to plummet like Bear Stearns stock value

I think you may also get banned from your training group too.

Nah, with how much we all joke about stuff like that, no one would bat an eye. Crossfit, PF, my newly launched “Armesaconda Protocol”… Nothing is off limits at the Anvil
