You are better off conserving your energy and concentrating on your work, instead of growling and grunting and carrying on.

The gym is not a circus. If you want to go act like a clown, then I suggest you join a circus.

Keep your 5 cents.

Of course its a circus.its where freaks are made afterall.

If people want to do that kind of shit what’s the issue? Comet people listen to music to get hyped and some learn they need to let it out. Shit people find their own ways to get in the zone whether its whistling or tapping their thigh exactly 3 times before sets.

I’ve actually seen very few quiet max deadlifts…

Either way…do what ya what feel needs to be done to prepare for where ya wanna go. I ain’t gonna complain if a guy is blending his intensity with his fun…that’s called passion.

I have never seen a max squat or bench or atlas stone toss or farmers done with out some bravado or any noise for that matter. Guess this place is not what is once was, Big guys that want to get bigger. I keep reading on here more and more, play sport “X” some other lame ass excuse and say they don’t want to be that big . Guess this is the result.

Omg I knew a guy who did this exact same thing. Except we were all standing around him and counting with him for encouragement. He was doing a really hard set of 10 on the bench. The tenth rep was a ridiculous grinder and when he finally locked it out his eyes went all crazy and he rasped out an epic sounding DIIIIIEEEEEZZZZ.

We’re forgetting that there’s a huge fucking difference between grunting when you hit a PR and a guy making the exact same noise for all 12 reps of his lateral raises. A FUCKING GALAXY-WIDE DIFFERENCE.

No there isn’t. Shoulders were my weakest muscle group for a while until I started getting loud.

Ever do 70 pound lateral swings for 7 sets of 12 and not make any noise?

Don’t even need to be heavy at all…shoulders could just be the bodypart that wont grow or is weak as he’ll so one may need to amp it up.

You get to determine whether or not someones shoulders are their weakest muscle group?

D theBird definitely addressed a guy who was grunting during P.R…so yea…

I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I mentioned lateral raises as an example and was in no way referring to you. I think I may have made the example before you mentioned your doing lateral raises.

I also want to reiterate that a good gym with a lot of strong guys working hard will have lots of grunting and clanging of plates and that’s all fantastic. I love it.
I am talking about making noise to get attention and while not actually doing anything physically stressful. As I said, if some guy makes the same, tailored noise for each rep, starting from the first one, and he;s doing a high , surprisingly even number of reps, like 10 or 12…then you know he’s just making the place noisy.

I dont mind a bit of grunting or “psshhht”-ing if its genuine. However walking around the gym “wooing” and “hey buddy! aint nuthin but a peanut!” etc etc just to make noise and draw attention is not on. Also dropping/throwing dBs to make as much noise as you can should be banned.

I’ve never seen or heard anyone make noise for attention. That’s called struggling for progress. Even if the weights are small.

Why would anyone want to draw attention to themselves if the weights are small? If you pick up 10s for laterals and you’re screaming…you know you aren’t impressing anyone. But at that point you’ve already decided you don’t give a fuck about anything but getting stronger.

O know you weren’t talking about me btw

Not even a “gym” but he’ll have you ever played a sport?

I don’t see the gym as anything different than a practice field
