More Movies You've Watched This Week

sympathy for lady vengeance, the hangover - both were good thought not exactly what i thought they would be with great endings.

Rocky Balboa - The 6th installment of the Rocky series, and honestly, it still gets my engine going. I used to train to the soundtrack playing in the background, and looking at Sly’s old wrinkly ass still doing pull-ups and squats at his age just get me pumped for tomorrow. This movie is cheesy and probably should not have been made, but this saga is one of the last ones around that gives me this feeling of kicking ass and taking names.

IDK, I think it was a move in the right direction from the monstrosity that was Rocky 5.

Even Sly admits he fucked that one up.[/quote]

I think RAMBO was even worse than this movie. I mean damn.

Maybe its just the fact that we so deprived of good R rated action movies these days, but I really liked Rambo.

And again on the topic of True Blood, watching episode 2 tonight, and damn, I think i like Tara even more then Sookie.

Kung Fu Panda - Watched this with my 3 year old son. I think I enjoyed this more then him. Why is it that pixar/dreamworks movies often have better stories then real movies. Hell, I probably got more laughs out of this movie then any comedy I’ve seen in a while.

Gran Torino - Finally watched this. It was pretty good I guess, but I was expecting more from all the hype I have seen on this website.

Valkyrie - I enjoy movies based on past historic events so I found this pretty interesting. Cruise did a pretty good job I must admit

SuperTroopers - I love this movie. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor.

The new Rambo and Balboa were both decent. Balboa was definitely better than Rocky V

Taps. I remembered this being a lot better.

Also, I’d like to eat my words regarding Heath Ledger not being awesome as The Joker, however MAGGIE FUCKING GYLLENHALL damn near ruins this movie everytime I watch it. It’s like Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent are Popeye and Bluto and she’s Olive Oyl. I don’t buy that either one of them would be interested in her.

The more I watch it, the more I agree. Her performance, while not bad, wasn’t spectacular enough to justify her being there over about 5,000 other people who could have fit that role. hey were bickering over her like she was Beyonce. That isn’t likely when you can pull any ass in the entire city.

Maybe Gotham is low on “10’s”.

What Hollywood doesn’t understand is that there needs to be some kind of character equality in movies. What I mean is, if you have a bad-ass hero, you also need a bad-ass villain. Otherwise the conflict between the two isn’t believable. I thought both Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger were great as the Joker, while Jim Carrey as the Riddler was not the most convincing IMO.

You would think that they would choose a better and more convincing choice to play Batman’s secret love interest than Maggie G. Other than that I think it is a great movie. Even using Michael Caine as Alfred and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox are wise choices, both experienced and savvy in their own right.

Gotham is not unique in this little fellah.

Second time watching this one, quickly becoming one of my favorites. All we need is the phrase:

“I… drink… Your… MILKSHAKE!!! I DRINK IT UP!!”

So, German television decided to take a break from sucking really bad…

Re-runs of Fifth Element, Judge Dread, Demolition Man, …

I mean, nowadays those are pretty much all total b (or c lol) movies… But somehow I find them a lot more entertaining to watch than most of what I see these days… And the first two seem to run for a lot longer than the average movie you get today?
Been forever since I’ve watched 5th element for the first (and only other) time. Couldn’t even remember half of it.

Maybe I’m getting old…

Oh yeah, predator 1 and 2 as well as Conan 1 and 2 were on recently as well… Not my favs exactly, but hey.

Compared to the crap we usually get over here, it’s definitely something. Made me feel all nostalgic and shit.

A few years ago we actually had movies on practically every channel after 8 o’clock.
Now most of the movies are on friday and saturday nights… What the hell, TV here is becoming more and more talk-show-erized and crappy-series-ized (German tv series have got to be in the top 5 of the worst things ever invented)…

True Blood - Finished up the remainder of Season One. Loved it.

Breaking Bad - This was recommended to me since I’m a fan of Weeds. I couldn’t get into it though. It was too depressing for me and I was under the impression going in that it was a comedy, so that probably messed with my expectations.

Instinct[ - Older movie with Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Anthony Hopkins. I didn’t like it.

Martyrs - Interesting movie. The first half is brutal, scary and intense. The second half there’s a slight shift in tone and the movie becomes philosophical, but still pretty brutal. If you like a good horror film, I recommend giving it a shot.

Transformers - Watched it again with the Transformers HUD option turned on. I’ll probably watch it again tonight with some other Blu-Ray feature. Yeah, I’m excited for T:ROTF on Wednesday!

Demolition Man was one of my favorite movies and still is.

Friday the 13th/ Quite possibly the best slasher flick made up to this point as it lacked the corniness (well, most of it) of the others.

This character needed an upgrade and that is exactly what they gave him. I think if they get some better writers, they could actually turn this into something really impressive in sequels…assuming the people they get to be killed quit following the same “horror movie stereotypes”. The only thing fresh in that sense was the addition of an Asian (Aaron Yoo) to the cast which I hadn’t seen before.

OK, who the fuck was in the drunk cop’s car in the last episode? They only showed feet so I assumed they were hinting at it being the gay dude, but then I thought that might be a red herring.

i hate to spoil it for anybody who hasn’t seen the start of the new season.
it wasn’t lafayette. it was the fake voodoo priestess. i won’t say any more. it looks like this new season is going to be really really good.

Amen dude, I am psyched for Transformers 2, 9 am Wednesday morning the magic happens for me on IMAX.

Watched the new true blood episode last night. Really liking Lafayette one of the best characters. That Red head they have as Vampire that Bill turned is fucken smoking, Oh gawd if only i could find me a red head that hot. And yes i love red heads

I just got netflix so I’m trying to catch up on the whole of movie history, or at the very least trying to see a few good flicks this summer.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Very entertaining movie, prompted me to see more Guy Ritchie films.

Revolver - Slower paced and not exactly what I was expecting. Still interesting, though.

Green Street Hooligans - Reinforced my belief that people are stupid, but other than that entertaining.

Reservoir Dogs - Fairly entertaining. Reminded me of Pulp Fiction in that it was full of entertaining dialogue and nothing else. I think Quentin Tarantino is a tad overrated (except for maybe Kill Bill).

im still trying to get through the first season of True Blood! I been slackin in that department. I think ive had to skip every other post on here so its not ruined for me!
