John Carpenter’s The Thing

I have heard they are remaking that. That could be a good or bad thing.
It’s a prequel I do believe, detailing the events leading up to the first movie. So not all that bad!
Yea, it’s supposed to detail the events that took place at the Norweigan camp with … some Americans…
I’ve read a couple things about it and apparently the director took all the information and shots from the 1982 The Thing and is trying to replicate it (including the guy who slit his wrists and throat and is frozen in the chair when Doc and MacReady find him).
Spill.com just now released this. Weird
YES!!!
Hell I still love the original. I just thought it was weird we were posting about it and then on my FB the spill poster pops up.
Dude, I LOVE the first one. I know it by heart…and the special effects still hold up which is fucking amazing.
Those are some really big shoes to fill. Can they make another movie that shows 20 years later and still has impact like the first one?
Either way, I will be in theaters for it.
I just got this shit in High def (the first one) and the picture looks like it was filmed last week…aside from the hairstyles and roller skates.
“You gotta be fucking kiddin me…”
Have to say The Thing is one of my all time favorite films, certainly my favorite horror. Saw it at the drive-in when it first came out and I’ve seen it probably around 30 times since then. The actors, script, music, effects…everything about this film is top notch, even the crazy ROb Bottin (?) T-rex at the end. ^^
Countless re-playability.
Okay X the wife couldnt find it at Target she was off today and went by there for something.
So I said fuck it and ordered it from Blockbuster (I have an account get them in the mail) for the Blueray with shipping and handling was $18.15. Should be here by this weekend. ![]()
You will enjoy it. Watching it on blue ray was like seeing it again for the first time.
That is one movie that tech actually upgraded fantastically.
Sling Blade.
Most epic movie ever.
Mmmmmhhmmmmm
Waterworld… hahaha

I just want to point out that a gd genius did the score for this movie. Mr. Ennio Morricone. As I have to say is Ecstasy of Gold from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly gives me chills every time I fucking watch that movie. Yes, that same Ennio Morricone that did the score for Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns did the score for John Carpenter’s The Thing.
Just the amount of sheer talent that surrounds this film is fucking amazing and is a testament to elite film making.
FUCK!
Just watched this and have to say it was a hellafast 2 hours and 20 mins. Brutal, beautiful and utterly bleak all in the same film.
And yes - that is Old Boy himself. Fuckin enjoy! ![]()
Is it available? Like its not at theaters?
just watched macgrugber…pretty much did exactly what it said it was guna do on the tin, be a stupid, cheesey, so idiotic its humorous kinda film!
then came the latest resident evil…i almost turned off when that “nba” star basically lat pulldown’d a plane, and nearly did again when the biggest fuck off zombie on earth dragging a tonne in weight hammer managed to creep up behind our “heroes” hahahaha! but it was so diabolical i felt i had to watch it all, poor choice!

“Let Me In” (the remake).
Excellent vampire film. Has a sensitivity rarely found in the genre.
Saw it today…AWESOME.

Yep should be bud, was made in 2010!
Horrible Boss- pretty good flick and funny. Jennifer Anniston is a sexy brunette slut and does it well ![]()
I just watched Black Death. While I like the anti-christianism theme it has, the movie is not good. The rhythm is not the adecuated and the first 50 minutes could have been done in much less, leaving more time to develop the plot in the village
13 Assassins was pretty good.
Bad Teacher = Bad movie. still have 20 mins of it to watch, but overall not a good movie. Would be so pissed to have gone to the theater and paid for that POS
Suker Punch and I feel like a sucker watching it, I guess it’s not so bad as the blonde wears a schoolgirl outfit and pigtails throughout most of the film
Warriors Way was kind of lame too I was hoping for a little more

Ink:
Hard to describe this movie without giving too much away… a career driven man’s personal and professional life reach a crisis point as his daughter’s soul is kidnapped and taken for sacrifice in an dream world is about as much as I can say off the top of my head. It follows the emotional roller coaster the man finds himself on as well as the efforts of the good guys trying to rescue the girl’s soul before it’s too late.
It’s an independent flick, I believe, and if you are into fantasy movies this should definitely go on your ‘To Watch’ list. Great visuals, a pretty amazing soundtrack, and cool fight scenes, along with a pretty damn original (as far as I know) storyline, makes this a cool break from the usual Hollywood drivel.
The story could’ve (should’ve) been fleshed out a bit more as it really is an interesting concept. It lags a bit here and there in the middle because of this and is, what I feel, the main drawback to the flick. Can’t really say more since I don’t want to spoil any of it, but it’s type of movie that warrants some discussion after viewing because it leaves the message open to personal interpretation.
