I just watched Walk Hard for the 20th time yesterday, man I love this movie, so damn stupid, so full of awesonme. John C Reilly for my money a great comedic actor.
Cyrus - Another Reilly film with Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei. A small excellent movie where the main protaganist (Reilly) is a schlub that stands up for himself. Hill and Tomei were excellent.
I watched the I Spit on Your Grave remake this weekend.
I haven’t seen the original, but between this and the Last House on the Left (both remake and original), if I ever have a daughter, I’m never letting go any place there are trees, lakes, or dudes with southern accents.
Holy crap this was brutal at times. The movie had a couple of big plot holes, but as is usual with this kind of flick, you just give it a pass and try not to harp on them.
I had no idea what I was walking into… but it had a pretty solid modern-sci fi storyline, complete with a screwed up romance and a gut wrenching scene. The acting was suprisingly well done and it didnt feel like a B-movie.
The beginning gets you interested (none of that slow start bullshit) and the ending leaves you wanting a sequel.
Also minimum cheese (bootleg 3D, poppy soundtrack, etc…)

The girlfriend and I watched this the past weekend as well and it was surprisingly her choice. I found the second act (girl gets revenge blah blah blah) moved very quickly and would have preferred if it was drawn out more. Much better than the “Last House…” remake though!

Agreed, the original ‘Last House…’ was far more harrowing at the time. Even the revenge of the parents had more bite to it. No pun intended
Remake of ‘I Spit…’ spent too much time on the rape and assault scene in my opinion. I appreciate they were trying to get the viewer worked up so you’d be emotionally invested in the final act, but I felt a bit exhausted from it and by the time it did come round I could only manage a “…yay…”.
Not a terrible film as far as gritty revenge films go; they just spent a little too much time on the set-up and middle act.
^^ Agreed whole heartedly. Speaking of remakes, has anyone else saw “Funny Games”? Both the Spanish and American versions are directed by the same person and both are quite good.
Going to see “Limitless” tonight, I’m skeptical but I’ve read some good reviews so far and it’s cheap night at the movies anyways, so no harm in checking it out!

Saw it yesterday. Like someone else said, the premise is awesome. The movie itself was good but also flawed in a lot of ways. There is some wild cinematography that might give you motion sickness if you have a problem with that kind of thing, and if you nitpick movies to death you probably won’t like it at all. I don’t so I liked it.

So you in know way shape or form got any “teen pop culture twilight bullshit vibe”. Good than I will get it on DVD from Blockbuster. So why is he number 4 and was there a really number 2?

No Twilight crap at all. There was a romance but theres no gay vampires or sparkles.
The numbering thing confused the fuck out of me too but its explained very soon in the film. Number six is hot as hell and almost worth the price of admission lol
Last week was Spring Break and I watched a ton of movies. The reviews are as follows:
Dune and Children of Dune: 6 parts total. Awesome movies, awesome story line, and worth watching. Its scifi so it may not interest all, but theres enough logical political/religious/scientific intrigue to make it interesting.
Season of the Witch: Nicholas Cage is a deserting knight and ends up having to escort a young lady purported to be a witch to a monastery. After a harrowing trip, craziness happens and its one of those trick endings. Not a must see but I was able to watch the whole thing without being bored.
Tron Legacy: Sucked. Not worth watching and the first one was before my time, so there was no incentive there.
Jackass 3: Entertaining. The stuff makes me laugh. Theres one where a guy ties his tooth to the back end of a lamborghini and they yank it out by getting it to maybe 100mph, then the string tightens, and the tooth goes pop. Good stuff, although there is some sick and just fucked up shit.
Seraphim Falls: Weird Western movie. Pierce Brosnan is an ex officer for the north in the civil war trailed by an ex confederate with a group of guys trying to kill him. I like Westerns, but it had a weird hallucinatory/surreal ending that ruined it and made it a story about war and forgiveness. On Netflix.
Apocalypto: Awesome. About the decline of the Mayan empire and a bunch of jungle people are abducted, then about to be sacrificed, but the sacrifices end just in time, and the hero has to make it back to his wife and kid in a hole before they drown in the rain. Not a whole lot of speaking, but visually entertaining, and action packed.
Defiance: About a group of Jews that live in the forest while they are trying to be exterminated by the Nazis. Good movie and I added it to my collection. Its on netflix too.
SLC Punk
I’ve seen this several times but it’s been a while. It gets pretty weird at times but it’s just about some punk Anarchists living in Salt Lake City. Very funny movie and I’d definitely recommend.
Cyrus
Indie comedy staring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei. Pretty funny but a bit slow at times. I’m honestly a big movie watcher and enjoyed it but maybe some won’t like it. It’s about a go who’s been divorced some 7 years, meets an awesome woman at a party out of the blue. The relationship moves fast and he finds out she lives with and has a very close, and odd relationship with her 22 year old son.
It’s kind of a Funny Story
Comedy staring Zach Galifianakis. It’s about a kid who thinks he’s depressed, checks into a mental hospital, and not much after that. Galifianakis is another patient in the hospital. The kid meets a cute girl in there, and there’s not much to the plot line of the story lol. Some good laughs, though.
i saw the devil - great movie if you like suspense police procedurals with lots of blood. min sik choi from old boy plays the very bad serial murderer.
