More I learn Less I know

Nice work buddy, looks like everything is on track.

just stopping in. All your lifts are moving up and more importantly you seem to be enjoying yourself.

Thanks for stopping in guys. The lifts are starting to come up, but I’m not in a big hurry. Just want to do things right.

Hel - You are right about enjoying myself. At our age, we’ve seen a lot of ways to do things right and do things wrong. In theory, we should make wiser decisions about how we spend our free time. Lifting heavy stuff isn’t very high up the fun scale, but it’s very high up the good use of time scale.

Gotta run. Tee off in local golf tourney in a few hours. Bad use of time but way up the fun scale.

Chasing a little ball all day, I can see the fun in that!

Welcome to the “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”. Here we all have two things in common, we’ve all hurt ourselves and we never learned from the first time!

You have some good numbers working for you. A structured workout like 5-3-1 is sometimes just what an overtrainer needs. Stay strong.

OP
Like the new avatar … mind if I steal it? It makes a good goal picture … I got the hairy part down, just need big and better swing.

uhh, did I say that right?

Thanks JW - I’m beginning to get more confidence about my back. It really helps having guys here helping in the motivation and learning department. No one in my gym trains like I do and it usually means I have the rack to myself.
Dont I know that feeling! Hope you do well in the tourney.

Good looking numbers on your MP. I now have a goal to reach for.

I’m an easy target, you young dudes should be blowing by me.

I’m pretty pissed right now. My daughter came home with the flu on Saturday and it hit me Sunday afternoon. At first I thought it was a bad case of DOMS from my rack pulls on Friday, but no.
Epsom salt bath and bed. Fever, chills, the works and having DOMS wasn’t the worst of it.
I missed at least 25% of the Superbowl!

I shook it off overnight and feel pretty spry today, but didn’t do my scheduled Bench workout. Tomorrow AM I hit it again…with a vengeance.

Been saving that gorilla picture for about 5 years. Since I’m starting to feel all swole and all…and play a mean golf game, thought I’d break it out. Note - photo shows an excellent finish position from the bunker.
Absolutely, gotta vertical hinge the sumbitch.

How did the tournament go?

I’m sure you’ll gorilla that flu into submission.

I beat the flu in about 18 hours with gallons of water and as much sleep as I could get between pissing. It’s been an interesting test of how well the immune system is holding up. My daughter is still sick.

The Tournament was a blast. Played with a dude that was All American at NorthWestern and is a plus handicap. Had a great round. He kicked my ass of course.

Good for you on kicking the flu’s ass and on the good tournament. I wonder if it is a guy I’m familiar with (All American from Northwestern). What the heck did you shoot?

You hopped on that flu bug before it could hop on you. Good job. Glad you had fun in the tourney

Thanks guys, feeling back to normal - no more golf talk here. PM to you mrodock on the details.

Felt like crap today on squats. Just overall joint pain, left knee pain, basic old guy aches.
It happens sometimes. Got the reps in but didn’t feel like pushing it too hard.

Thanks JW for the benchie attaboy.

The sign of wisdom…knowing when to back off and not press a potentially bad situation… Keeps you off the IR!!! Nice work, OP.

I’m with OG, sometimes you just got hit the target and leave it at that.

OG and JG - We’ve all learned that pushing too hard when the body is say’in “bad idea, don’t go there” is like a trip to Vegas; You might come home whole, but the odds are against it.

C2/W2 MP Day

SMP:
10xbar, 10x95, 3x120, 3x135, 8x155
BBB:
5x10x85

My right knee shuts down my squating a lot. I agree with OG and JG. You hit the reps and knew when to shut it down. Smart training.

Seems to be a chin up wave building up on these threads. Nice work OP…and I likey the 155x8… Have a great weekend…and do some bass fishin’!
