More I learn Less I know

You didn’t lose to much while you were gone. Agree with OG, those are some very serious dips.

Thanks!
Yeah - I think I was a little pissed off at something or someone at the time.

At the moment, nothing helps my bench more than dips. Going to work on adding a little something that should really get the bench going tho.

Thanks Harry
I always lose a little bit after a week off, but it comes back quickly.

Serious dips as opposed to slacker dips?
I’ll take serious. Appreciate the compliment.

90 x 10
100 x 8

Calf Work

Took my PR and went home.

yeah! got that big 400 did ya - good job!

400 out-freakin-standing. Good job.

Congrats on 400, 4 wheels is only days away now.

Thanks guys. Been thinking about the pull and have a few observations.

I’ve never pulled that hard. As soon as it broke off the floor I commited to going all the way, even if it meant getting hurt. I’ve always worried about straining my back again so I just decided to hell with it. It was a good test.

Once it broke of the floor there was no stalling or slowing to lockout. I think I have another few pounds in me.

I like to get mentally prep’d for a lift. It’s easy for me on bench. It’s basically “do or die” on bench. Put the weight up or get crushed. I ignore the fact the safety bars are in place and just go in with that attitude.

It’s not like that with Deadlifting. I’ve decided to approach deadlifting as a serious game. It’s a competition between me and the barbell. It’s goal is to stay on the ground. “Own it or it owns you”.

I’m not sure how to mentally prep for squats yet. There is a game in there somewhere and I need to find it.
This probably sounds pretty silly, but the mental piece on big lifts is really important to me.

Dominate the weight or it buries you.

For me, there is more of a natural “fight or flight” response in the squat than the other lifts, especially the bench. Something I will think about, thanks!

In regard to the deadlift, congrats on the milestone and I have a feeling there is a lot left in the tank.

I think the key to staying healthy while lifting aggressively is to attack the weight with solid form. There can be a little form breakdown on maximal lifts, but for the most part, form should stay very tight. I think this approach can breed confidence when injury is a concern.

Thanks mrodock.

On bench sometimes I literally imagine being under a car or even a house and it’s lift it or get crushed.
On the Deadlift I looked at it sitting on the ground laughing and taunting me.

Whatever it takes.

I think I might be lose’in it.

Squats:

Warmup to 225

255 x 5
290 x 3
325 x 3 (PR)

340 x 1
275 x 8,7,5

Good Mornings:
135 x 10 3 sets - Back is still fatigued from Deadlifts this week.

Calf Work
Ab Work

Happy with the PR - Left one in the tank and was feeling pretty solid even though I was still feeling the effects of the deadlift session this week.

Lookin’ good with the PR there OP!

Congrats on the PR, that had to feel great.

Thanks Guys - PR’s on Deadlift and Squat make for a very good week.
All I want now is a 350 bench for Christmas.

Military Press:

Warmup to 135

155 x 5
165 x 3
185 x 5 (PR)

155 x 8

Dips:

BW x 15
+35 x 10
+70 x 10
+115 x 8

Chins:
5,5,7,7,5

The PR was only a couple lbs but since I haven’t done Millis in a few weeks I’m happy with it.

Didn’t hurt having a hot lil personal trainer chatting it up with me between clients tonight.

Naw. Just addicted. I really enjoyed reading about the mental games you play with each lift. Very interesting.

5 reps on military press at close to bodyweight is not too shabby. Good job.

Ah yes, the “show off for the opposite sex” factor. Good for a lot of poundage. Your lifts are all looking great, lots of PRs. I like to talk to the weights myself, get a lot of strange looks.

Just catching up. Great work and great PRs!

When is your meet? It should be pretty soon, right?

Thanks everyone for checking my log.

I feel ready for the meet in November, but appears I’ll be traveling to Asia on business instead. Specifically Beijing. Any PL meets going on out there?
