I can’t believe how innaccurate / ininformed this is. take a look at the ‘muscular’ pic that goes with the article.
What would steroid users be treated for?? There making it sound like steroid users end up on the street and share needles.
WOW!

“It does take over. They want to have the rippling six pack with the golden body, but most of them end up as the Arnold Schwarzenegger - that’s what they see as success.”
I’m not sure this even makes sense. Is she saying that people strive to be more toned and ripped, but end up like Arnold? That is ridiculous! This also contradicts this statement…
She likens steroid users to anorexia sufferers in that, regardless of their true size, they still see themselves as “tiny, scrawny, weedy”.
There are so many things wrong with this article. I wonder why steroid users would go to treatment centers. They say most are younger, so maybe the parents catch them using AAS and think they need rehab or something.
Someone, stop the madness. Steroids on par with heroin use?
Brilliant yellow journalism.
I just used the “have your say” messaging system and picked apart the entire article.
The bit that grabbed me was “Drugs Expert” - WTF!
I dont even know they existed! what kind of feild do you think he studied?!
To not even use a credible profesion to fight their case would sugest to me that most of the DR’s around have a good opinion base, or not willing too…maybe.
I do think that we will end up llike the states with them being completely banned, but for the minute they are going to have to come better than that for the inteligence of Britain. I dont think the majority will head any of the message given…at least I hope.
Fucking usless bbc…
That’s a blatant insult to human intelligence. When was the last time you saw a huge muscular guy creep into a dark alley and hold up another guy at gunpoint to get a fix of Test Prop? There is a massive difference between a man with a goal, and a man with a repugnant addiction.

I agree with everything else you said, but this is actually a credible profession. Typically the degree program is community health, and the upper-level secondary schooling has concentrations in drug use and abuse.

Haha, hilarious.
But yeah, this is a crazy article. Steroid users are at risk of contracting AIDS and other blood-borne diseases? Are they sharing needles or something? WTF?

Plus it’s not like steroid users gather together to “get high” off steroids. You might have two guys pinning each other, but heroin users tend to gather in groups. And yeah, no steroid user is going to suck dick or mug someone for a hit of AAS.
You know what really gets to me is are the pictures they throw into the articles and newscasts when they talk about steroids. The guys are like a buck sixty and relatively lean, which is definitely not indicative of steroids. It makes most men feel “adequate” being the same size as females.

Scare tactic and fiction. It’s all it ever is. This is the same type of people who would have you believe that bin Laden lives in Ohio, or that the Four Horsemen were spotted in Kentucky (a la National Enquirer)
Yes, I will just take steroids and not lift any weights and watch me Grow!!!
As much as I agree with what you guys are saying here, there will always be stupid, ignorant fucks out there following the crowds and trying to “please” the public with what they want to hear.

Fair enough… It may be a profession over there in the states but here in the UK?..never heard of it.
It’s just a good source of proof though that most of the journalism in the UK is now going to shit.

The University of Aberdeen has undergraduate studies in Health Sciences and post-graduate studies in Health Services & Public Health Research, both encompasses drug use and abuse.
Plus most post-graduate study is not set in stone–it has more to do with what you want to study and what the background of the faculty are at that particular university. While the actual degree offered may be a MSc or PhD in Health Services & Public Health Research, it will have a concentrated study in whatever subtopic is chosen.
Wow. After having read the article I am at a complete loss for words. And what the hell was up with that picture of the supposedly muscular individual? Maybe that’s what it’s like pre-juice? haha
Sigmund Freud experimented with the effects of cocaine on himself, only to study first-hand what it was like and how it affected people.
Then again, this was the same crazy son-of-a-bitch that proposed that we all sexually desire our mothers.

Personally though, I don’t see how anyone can really be a drugs ‘expert’ without having actually experienced the drugs in question.
However, I can see how that would be impractical, hahaha.
Bushy
It is a legitimate career, but as far as actually knowing what the hell they’re talking about, probably not. We all know there is a difference between “the literature” and actual drug use behavior.
“It’s all about being big, muscular, toned, and they can gain that much quicker using steroids than they ever can working out,” she says.
So…You don’t have to lift weights if you take steroids? This article is just sad, and they really used that picture…of all pictures…to show what a person taking steroids looks like.
Even more, with ‘better’ pics!
A while ago but still…WTF
