Hmmm… calves, traps and bis eh?? You goin’ bodybuilder on us bro? lol! JK

You still gonna do that local meet?

I remember back in ‘92 to ‘95, my bride and I had the same issues with daycare. Here I was a freakin’ Army NCM (Sgt.) and my wife tending bar/ waitress… plus I was bouncin’ at 2 different bars trying to make ends meet. And trying to get (good) childcare in this “hoity toity” town, $$$- forget it.

So, the bride said… “Hell, I can do this (childcare) thing right out of our own home.” So, she did. Following Fed/ Provincial guideines she was allowed to legally have no more 6 kids (other than your own) per day. So, she did.

It was no different than any regular day anyhow, with 3 boys of our own, the house was full of neighbourhood ankle biters anyways… and the kids that she first started with were friends spawn anyhow.

She charged $20 per day, per kid, meals included. People were banging our door down. It was alright, 'cept days I got to sneak home for a “nooner” were gone.

Heheh!.. those were some good days. We had a Husky/ Australian sheep dog mix back then too… it used to go nuts trying to herd the kids… lol!

Still have a meet in my sites. I will be showing up in mismatched loaner gear, but I have one lined up.

Today’s cardio is consitening of shoveling snow. Lots of it. In big drifts, so the frigging snow blower is no good. Actually enjoy this kind of exercise better than a damn machine. Light bench in a while.

so first you go all body Builder, then you go all functional…

I had to shovel the driveway this weekend at the weekend place,
only 4 inches but holy crap- super pumped after.

It’ll take 3 hours to shave you down if you turn bodybuilder. Glad I’m not hairy like that.

If I were to turn bodybuilder, and start the diet today, I would say I am 72 weeks out from my next show…

Off to DE bench.

Been watching the weather and that global warming is sure hitting yawl hard up there. Bundle up and go bench.

whatever you do… don’t lose weight. if you do, don’t tell anyone. you’ll never live it down:)

Hmmm tried to post earlier from basement computer, which is having issues.

Repost: Harry, global warming, global schwarming. Ain’t feeling it today.

Meat: I refuse to discuss bodyweight or composition at this point and time. Just keep telling yourself thin is in.

Oh, and Eco, regarding the body hair, I am kinda bummed, with the pregnancy the wife refuses to nair my back. Thinks the fumes might hurt the baby. So every ten days or so I get all contorted trying to do it myself… tmi?

Body feeling beat up. Today is first day of a new wave of DE work. Notes to self: squatting in briefs w/o wraps the other night was just plain stupid for an old fart. My bum knee hasn’t been this sore in years. The cold, and the shoveling, didn’t help either.

Glad today was upper. Hope knee feels better tomorrow. Oh, and low back is trashed. And quads still sore. Never let anyone try and tell you working in gear doesn’t work the muscles…

DE bench 8 sets of 3, w/ 185 and doubled minis. Light, beginning of new wave, and also really wanted to focus on some form changes I will need to be successful in this meet.

Close grip incline: worked up to 275 x 10. Wanted more, the spotter I had was a douche and didn’t trust him. Plus as I said I am kinda beat up today.

DB bench 3 x 15 w/110s. Light, will up next week, want to go for more volume instead of a money set this cycle.

Incline Tates. Tried these once or twice before, hard for me to get a hang of. 3 sets of 8 ending at 75s.

straight bar pressdowns with about 120 + mini band wrapped behind back 5 x 15, focusing on contraction, aka lockout.

laterals 5 x 8-10

30 minutes elliptical. Friggen cold outside today.

Tight as all hell today, stretched and foam rolled everything for 1/2 hour before I got started.

Box squat to 11 and 1/2 inch box
225 plus green bands (140lbs at top) 2 x 2
275 plus greens 2 x 2
315 plus greens 2 x 2
365 plus greens 2 x 2

pull from mid shin, 315 + doubled minis 5 sets of 3

one legged leg press 4 x 12 -15

back extension 5 x 10-15

ab whell 5 x 10-15

between the heavy squatting monday and shoveling snow yesterday felt like hell today. will be ramping this back up to something more exciting.

30 minutes elliptical. I think the cold is also making my body lock up real bad, maybe I will start seeing what jobs are available in warmer climates…

My brother used to live in Minnesota (Buffalo Lake). The winter’s, as you know, are hellacious. He moved to Illinois. Right now, they aren’t fairing much better. He should have just moved back to south Georgia. Warmer, less wind and plenty of the Tannic acid in the water, that Harry and Wilson have been talking about.

Pete, how long have you been running your program? By that, I mean in its basic form, notwithstanding any tweaks here and there.

Strick, the Twin Cities area and Illinois are basically the same weather wise. Now when you get up north in Minnesota that is some extreme shit. Here is bad enough. I always have friends from Chicago try to ‘I heard it was like 50 below there’ and I have to give them geography lessons:) But yeah, it sucks.

Jack, I have been doing some variation of Westside for a little over a year. My body is still responding to the variation of a ME day and a DE day.

Met the wife downtown to go to her dr. appt. Got to hear the heartbeat this time. Then went to my old ‘by work’ gym with the intention of reducing our membership level and save a few bucks. The difference was $10 month, so I kept it where it was at. Plus that location has, as I have noted, some nice scenery. While I was there figured I would do some assistance work:

Calves 5 x 20

Cable rear delts 5 x 20

DB shrugs 4 x 20, worked up to 130s

Face pulls 5 x 10-15

Cable abs 5 x 12-15

Preacher curl 5 x 12-15

rope hammer curl 5 x 12-15

Nothing heavy or intense. Just stuff I know won’t get done on other days. Feel like my ‘yoke’ has shrunk a little too, and can’t let that happen.

ME Bench.

Stayed RAWWWW today.

Bench 140 x 10, x 10, 230 x 5, 280 x 5, 320 x 5, 370 x 5

4 Board 410 x 3, 460 x 3, 500 x 3

The 370 x 5, and 500 x 3, are RAW PRs, at least recently.

CSR 5 x 10-15

Laterals 5 x 8-10

Dips 3 x 15

Very busy today, two benches running with a total of about 12 lifters. Still have scabs from trying to fit into a size 50 shirt last week, that and the number of people made me decide to go sans shirt today. Will be back in a shirt next week.

After lifting stopped by Mall of America to pick up present for my older son. Haven’t braved that place in about 5 years. I think it will be another 5 years until I return. Dante’s Inferno comes to mind, with all its layers of hellishness. A bunch of fat people in TAPOUT shirts waiting to see some MMA figures, one woman repeatedly ramming me with her stroller, all in all not recommended if you are ever in the area. Ended up walking for about 40 minutes, so I am calling it cardio in hell…

Great lifting, Pete! And nice PRs.

Nice work, Pete. And braving the mall for a loved one shows courage and devotion.

Jack, braving the MOA for me used to require shots and beers. I made it in and out sober. For the time being anyway.

Notes on training. I keep posting how tight/sore I am. Weather is a factor, change of schedule/unemployment it another. Plus the new training facility. I know it is going to bring a lot out of me. Today I felt comfortable, for the first time, now I just have to get in the groove.

It is funny I might not be the strongest guy there, but I know I have to be. That is kind of where I have ended up in every gym before. Now I have to make some consessions to progress. Up until two weeks ago I didn’t. I love the atmosphere, I am adjusting to the personalities, I think starting this week I will be seeing good results…

Thats a mouth full. It’s funny how a little thing like new surroundings really effect our training.
