Monkeying Around

30 minutes cardio a.m

last night was extremely tight still from Sundays lower work. I had these great intentions of foam roll and stretching after the kid went to bed, unfortunately two oreo cookies had the same effect on my toddler that a triple espresso meth crak latte might have on me. Kid didn’t go down until about when I did. So went into DE lower still too tight.

Box squat, 13 inch box bar x 20, 135 x 10, 225 x 10, added 4 pair chains 225 + chains x 5, 315 and chains x 5

DE work 345 + 4 pairs of chains 12 sets of 2, 30-40 seconds rest. At this point I had the most insane lower back, glute, and hamstring pump. So made the assesory work a little wimpier than I had planned.

Close stance GMS 5 x 10 w/225

Leg press 5 x 15 w/810

Feel like I pussy because I didn’t do speed pulls, but seemed at the time like they would do more harm than good.

Thanks Eco, I am kinda in shape, not great shape yet. And the damned McDonald’s I just ate is making me feel completely fat and useless. OH well, have the day off work, hanging out with the toddler, so I don’t need to be that useful. In fact he stated he wants to take a nap soon, hopefullly that will pan out for me…

Meat said something about eating mcdonalds while crying…

Pete nice work, I do admire that you doint neglect low level and higher level cardio…
I try to use the pool for steady state but need to ramp up a conditioning block

I plan on being hungover tomorrow, so did ME lower today:

Sumo dl: 110k x 5, 150k x 5, 190k x 5

Shrugs: 315 x 20, 405 x 20, 495 x 15, 585 x 14

Step up 3 x 10

kneeling cable abs 4 x 10-15

standing calves 3 x 10-15

PRs on the rack pull and shrugs.

Pete, all I can say is, I think I’d get tired just loading and unloading your bar. That’s a lot of weight you are moving. By the way, why do you switch to measuring in Ks for deads? Just curious,

Jack

Pete, I may be hungover as well tomorrow. I’m drinking for the first time in a month. Jim Beam and diet coke…I’m on my third huge drink and am fairly toasted. Typing this with one eye closed. Good on ya mate.

Jack, thanks for looking in. I actually made a comment today that I should hire some 15 year old kid just to load and unload for me. And not to sound egotistical but on bench night I do have someone else taking care of that for me. reason for recording in kilos? Because one of the gyms I train in has kilo plates, they are the only round ones there, and I am too lazy to convert them here. I know off the top of my head that 250k = 551lbs, just because that has been my raw squat opener before, but for smaller increments I ain’t so good.

Dude, if you stuck to your low carb thing you will hurt. But still probably not as much as me. It is 3 a.m. and am finally winding down. We put the kid with my sister, and also had an old good friend come in form Chicago. To top it off another old good friend who I haven’t seen since the early nineties, and is a rapper, performed tonight, along with other old friends displaying art work, etc at this event. Started with sipping Stella Artois early in the evening, and actually maintained that most of the night. But the tail end has ended up with good whiskey, rocks, and now I am going to try and absorb some up with crappy frozen pizza. Have not been up this late in forever. Interesting last couple of days, might post more details when I am feeling more coherent.

No kidding, especially when he gets over 600lb.

Uggg. Wasted day. To be expected. I have consumed more carbs in the last 48 hours than I probably consumed in the past two weeks. And alcohol. Old good friend came in from Chicago Friday night, had a big get together with people who were friends ‘back in the day’ last night. Yesterdays workout was completed with a minor hangover, today I was useless until mid afternoon, when I finally launched into grocery shopping, cleaning, food prep, etc. Planned on doing some cardio but even that wasn’t in the cards.

Did have that nice feeling of people I haven’t seen in a long time commenting on how I look. Even my friend from Chi-town said I look more athletic than he has seen me recently and also I looked un-human, lol.

I have long suspected that you have a mechanical exoskeleton. I just hope that you don’t work for Skynet.

Dragged myself out of bed, 30 minutes elliptical. Legs still tight from Saturday. Wore full sweats to detox myself a bit. Benchin tonight.

training when hungover sucks…

Yeah, today was more of the hangover from the hangover, i.e. I was so useless yesterday I never really got over it. Plus I am just getting too old to do that…

ME Bench.

Things worked out well tonight.

Raw warm ups, close grip: bar x 30, 135 x 15, 225 x 10, 275 x 3, 315 x 3, 370 x 1

Loose single ply shirt, 2 board: 405 x 3, 455 x 1, 485 x 1, 10 lb PR

Close grip 3 board: 405 x 3, 425 x 3 (meant to be a 4 board, grabbed wrong board out of truck)

Raw bench 225 x 31

laterals 45s x 15, 50s x 12, 55s x 10

rope down/rope ext 3 x 15-20 each

Felt really good from the get go. I had to hold back on the CG warm ups, with both 315 and 370 wanted to go for reps, but my main goal was the PR off the two board. Going to try and keep ME lower and ME upper 48 hours apart. My hammies, low back, and shoulders felt 100 times better than they do when I squat and pull the day before benching. Could keep a good arch, and just didn’t feel as beat up trying to push up heavy weights. Go figure. Don’t know why I did the high rep stuff on the bench, must be because of football season.

appetite out of control tonight. Had big 50 gram protein, 75 gram carb shake after training. Followed up an hour and a half later with 10 oz salmon, rice pilaf, and large salad. Reading in bed I had to get up and have a 10 oz steak I had cooked for the wife, but she didn’t eat, yesterday. Feel hungry still. Gonna try and squeeze eyes shut and ignore.
