Box squats to 14 inch box, green (average) bands + 315 bar weight: 10 sets of 2, 30 or 40 seconds rest between sets

One legged leg press 4 x 15, 30 seconds rest between sets

Leg curl 4 x 12 again 30 seconds rest

45 degree GHR 4 x 12 same amount of rest

over an hour later and I am still sweating. love sitting through a meeting with a wet shirt. f@#king busy again today. all of that work was done in 40 minutes including the set up time. The band tension really makes you have to be tight on the box squats, from the walk out down to the hole and back up. My rear is going to be sore tomorrow.

Tired and cranky today. Got to bed too late, so slept in until 6:20. Skipped cardio, will try to go for longish walk tonight.

Donkey calve machine 4 x 20-30

Seated Dbell curls worked up to 70s x 6

I really do feel like crap today. Just no energy. I have been keeping my carbs mostly pre/post workout since Sunday, and I think I took kind of a crash finally today. Honestly think I could easily sleep at my desk right now. Best get up and keep moving.

2 mile dog walk. Along the way a coworker called my cell with an issue. I was on the phone with her and realized that there was this young couple pushing their two kids in a stroller up ahead, looking at me, looking at the dogs, and just plain terrified. I hung up so I could rein the dogs in and hopefully alleviate their fears:)

I tried a low carb diet for a short time and felt like shit through the whole thing.

Simple, and fast. excluded any heavy lock outs or close grips to keep elbow healthy for doing my opener Monday night.

Man, despite skipping the lockouts my triceps are fried. Also, just ate 10 oz steak and bunch of green beans, I am revenous. Going to loosen the diet a bit tonight, in a week lost 7 lbs, so can kinda coast over the weekend. We shall see what I weigh in at on Monday.

Pete, you’re a strong mofo. Your simple and fast is my long and drawn out workout. I can’t wait to see what you total in August. Its gonna be huge.

We shall see. I am taking this about as relaxed as I can. Training through next week, and then that damned deload the following week. I know I am going to have a hard time staying out of the gym for even 5 days.

Holy krimeneez, spell master. I just went back over my posts, edited a few obvious problems, but am I getting stupider as I get older? I graduated college with a double major philosophy and English lit, minor in Latin. I was accepted to graduate school at several top level Universities.Â

Now I can’t seem to formulate a sentance without a major grammatical error.Ã?  Too dependent on spellcheck over the years? Too many hits to the head? I apologize to anyone who can’t read what I write… LOL. I am as bad as the youngones who have write ‘you’ as ‘u’.Â

Alright. The last week and a half has been stressor hell for me, culminating in some of the worst I could ever imagine the last 24 hours. I won’t go into details, just say as a parent I am going through some shit I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

That being said, after trying to address some issues with my older boy today, I went into the gym for ME lower. My nerves were a jangle but at 13 days out I wanted to try my opening deadlift. I worked up to 610, and it came up effortlessly. However, my little lower back issue, which I think was aggravated maybe because of stress? Was very evident.

So here is the day:

Conventional pull: worked up to 610 x 1. Came up super fast and easy, as it should. Low back felt horrible at lockout.

Back extensiton 5 x 10

Cable Abs 5 x 15-20

Tried to do pull throughs but low back wasn’t having it.

Dumbell shrugs 100s x 40, 125s x 25

I will do one more ME lower next week, but with caution. It might be a ‘game day call’ if I decide to scrap the full meet and join the ranks of the ‘bench only fags’ for this one. No way do I want to end up injured for a unsanctioned YMCA meet…

This morning my wife, little boy and I went to our local home town diner for breakfast. While we were sittying at our table this sloppy, still half in the bag, walleyed POS came in, and came over to our table saying ‘hey, where’s grandma’ and other unintelligible shit directed at my son… My wife proceeded to try and have a conversation with this freak, who we do not know, but meanwhile I guess I started growling or something. Some low level noise was coming from deep in my throat, and suddenly as if having a ‘moment of clarity’, this man looked at me startled, started backing away and said ‘I’m sorry, I thought your little boy was the one that comes in with his grandma everyday.’ Per my wife, as she was just reminding me (it has been a long day), this guy was suddenly scared shitless, and there was some odd noise coming out of me…

To his credit, he then turned around and said ‘oh there you are I thought that little boy over there was your grandson’ to a nice lady in her sixties, sitting with her 3 year old grandson.

Nice training Pete. Take it a day at a time… let the back heal up bro’.

funny story… my wife is always trying to intercept me now too. After 25 years she knows how I am going to react to things before I even do. She kicks me under the table… jabs in the ribs etc. and says stuff like “be nice” or “don’t hurt him/ them”.

Every now and then she will give the ok… like “get this freak away from me”, or “do something, stop him/ them” and then I have some fun.

And other times… not as often as when I was younger… ain’t nothin’ anyone says or does is gonna stop me, short of a bullet to the head.

Alright, took yesterday off completely. From everything. A good portion of it was spent with a heating pad on the injured area. Did some very gentle stretching. Things are starting to feel better today. Will take my bench opener later. Tomorrow start working in some light cardio and some active recovery stuff.

Like I said you’re a strong mofo(610 easy!!!). I hope the back is OK. I’ve been very fortunate that I have no stories about someone messing with me and my family. And my wife has no interest in having a yard sale so I’m safe on that front.

Back is feeling better by the hour. Mentally stoked to train tonight. Yesterday doing nothing was really hard, at first. But then took the kid to the park, watched him run around, have a good time, and then come and try and climb all over me. Then took at killer 2 hour nap with the heating pad on. Good stuff.

ME Bench. Tonight worked out great, it was actually John’s, who is doing the meet with me, bench night. He hit a 410 touch and go raw, which is a big step for the big guy. He had a mental barrier at 4 plates for the longest time.

Here is how my night went:

Raw warm up: 45 x 20 x 2 sets, 135 x 20, 185 x 10, 225 x 10, 275 x 3, 315 x 3, 365 x 1 (all pinkies on ring, save the shoulders)

Loose Titan shirt (I can put it on and take it off myself now) 405 x 1, 435 x 3

3 board 435 x 3, 455 x 3, 475 x 3, 500 or 505 x 1. Not sure on the last weight. I called for 495, went and grabbed some water, laid back and pressed. As I was walking away to get out of my shirt I noticed there were some small plates on each side. Assholes. Oh well, I am over that barrier.

Dips bwt x 20, 45 x 15, 90 x 10, 12, 12

HS Machine press 5 x 10, 30 sec rest

rev 1 arm pressdown 3 x 20, 1 arm after another.

There was this kid there tonight, probably 13 years old and 95 pounds. First time in years I have seen a teen following around the ‘big guys’ and trying to ask for suggestions. As I was leaving one of the regular crew pointed out to me that he had literally been watching me for the last hour plus. ‘He aspires to be you’ he said. I smiled and said ‘God, if he only knew my life… poor kid.’ Earlier, when I was doing dips, he did come up to me and ask me how much I benched, and all I said is ‘Trying to get to 500.’ He muttered something I couldn’t understand and so I said ‘Kid, just be consistent and don’t give up. And eat.’

Now I have to respond to my Craigslist stalkers. Posted some aquariums on there and it seems like I am being followed by a bunch of post menopausal fish freaks.
