ME Bench. Tonight worked out great, it was actually John’s, who is doing the meet with me, bench night. He hit a 410 touch and go raw, which is a big step for the big guy. He had a mental barrier at 4 plates for the longest time.
Here is how my night went:
Raw warm up: 45 x 20 x 2 sets, 135 x 20, 185 x 10, 225 x 10, 275 x 3, 315 x 3, 365 x 1 (all pinkies on ring, save the shoulders)
Loose Titan shirt (I can put it on and take it off myself now) 405 x 1, 435 x 3
3 board 435 x 3, 455 x 3, 475 x 3, 500 or 505 x 1. Not sure on the last weight. I called for 495, went and grabbed some water, laid back and pressed. As I was walking away to get out of my shirt I noticed there were some small plates on each side. Assholes. Oh well, I am over that barrier.
Dips bwt x 20, 45 x 15, 90 x 10, 12, 12
HS Machine press 5 x 10, 30 sec rest
rev 1 arm pressdown 3 x 20, 1 arm after another.
There was this kid there tonight, probably 13 years old and 95 pounds. First time in years I have seen a teen following around the ‘big guys’ and trying to ask for suggestions. As I was leaving one of the regular crew pointed out to me that he had literally been watching me for the last hour plus. ‘He aspires to be you’ he said. I smiled and said ‘God, if he only knew my life… poor kid.’ Earlier, when I was doing dips, he did come up to me and ask me how much I benched, and all I said is ‘Trying to get to 500.’ He muttered something I couldn’t understand and so I said ‘Kid, just be consistent and don’t give up. And eat.’
Now I have to respond to my Craigslist stalkers. Posted some aquariums on there and it seems like I am being followed by a bunch of post menopausal fish freaks.
