You should still bring a calculator, but you can also print off a conversion chart. Here’s the one for the CPU (Canadian IPF affiliate). No need to expend additional energy trying to do math![/quote]

Thanks, I just printed a copy.

This really sucks though. Now I’m lifting like half of what I used to be lifting. I think I like lbs better.

Uh, actually it’ll be a little more than 45 percent . Talk about a major loss of strength.

Good luck down in Char-latte-ville. I was planning on making a cameo, but too much shit going on.

Great lifting Modi. I believe a 1654 total or more is ‘elite’ status for a raw lifter. Good luck.

Good luck man see you there

Dork.

No problem. We’ll catch up at some point.

Yeah, that’s only 750 kilos. That doesn’t sound like much.

You’re already thinking in kilos, I’m thoroughly impressed.

I’m off to set some PR’s or die trying.

Be back in a few days. Thanks for all the positive support guys. I appreciate it.

Just finished watching the 198’s. Judging is very strict. I saw some very strong lifts, and the winner at 198 cracked 1600!

I jumped on the official scale… 274.75lbs with clothes and after meal. 275.5lbs is the cutoff, so I should be fine tomorrow. I’ll weigh in before eat lunch.

274? Lard butt. LOL. PR’s all the way, man!!!

Alright, I’m back, and pretty much in one piece. A big thanks to Meat for coming out to support me, and put my head back in the right place after I got off track.

After weight 274 and change all weekend, I stepped onto the scales at 121.8kg which was around 268, so plenty of room to spare. A lot of good lifters this weekend, and judging was very strict as predicted.

Squat 1: I opened light at 235kg (518lbs) for an easy 3 white lights. Judging was very strict and I wanted to nail my opener to stay in the meet.

Squat 2: I moved up to 250kg (551lbs) just to garauntee a PR. This came up very easy for another 2 whites.

Squat 3: I thought about just taking 265kg (584lbs) on my third but decided I had come to hit a 600lb Squat. So I took 272.5kg (601lbs). I didn’t commit to the Squat. I think the groin pull was there in the back of my head and I didn’t explode out of the hole, and got stuck half way up. Luckily I didn’t do any real damage to my groin, but really wish I could take that 600 again. 3 big reds.

Bench 1: I opened with 160kg (353lbs) and it went up well, but my head was still on the missed Squat attempt. Still an easy 3 white lights.

Bench 2: I moved up to 170kg (375lbs) for a 5lb PR and my head was in my ass. I didn’t drive hard enough and started to grind out the rep when one of the spotters grabbed the bar on my right side. I got up to complain, and the head judge was already awarding me a retry at the end of the 2nd attempts.

[/i]Meat intervention…At this point Meat came out back and said what he needed to say. I’m not even sure what he said, but it put me back in the game and I regained my focus. Thanks buddy, that was very important to me.[/i]

Bench 2…again: This time I was 100% committed and smoked 375 for an easy 5lb PR and 3 whites.

Bench 3: Once again Meat came backstage and made sure my head was in the game. I took 172.5kg (380lbs) and nailed it for another 3 whites and a 10lb PR.

Deadlift 1: I never do this, but I decided to open light just in case my groin was in bad shape. I opened with 235kg (518lbs) and thought I was going to Clean the weight. Smokeshow as it should be. 3 very easy whites.

Deadlift 2: I moved up to 265kg (584lbs) for my second attempt. This went up well, but not as easy I hoped. 3 whites, but left me wondering about my 3rd.

Deadlift 3: I had originally planned on going to 285kg (628lbs) but I didn’t think it was there. I wanted a PR, any PR and if I took 282.5 (623lbs) and finished it, I would secure 4th place overall. I shouldn’t have even been thinking about places, but it was the first time that I’ve been at a meet where there was a running tally on the bigscreen. Anyways I took 623 and started quick with it, but came to a grinding halt inches shy of lockout. I stuck with it and squeezed for all I had and finally locked it out for 3 white lights and a 3lb PR.

Final results:
Squat: 250kg / 55lbs (PR +16lbs)
Bench: 172.5kg / 380lbs (PR +10lbs)
DL: 282.5kg / 623 lbs (PR +3lbs)
Total: 705kg / 1554ls (PR +29lbs)

4th Place Men’s 275 Open

I didn’t get my 600lb Squat, but I know it’s there on a better day. Best of all I didn’t make the groin pull any worse and I hit PR’s across the board.

Great work, Brent. I really would’ve liked to have been there, but just too much extracurricular shit, ya know. Next time you’re down this way or I happen to get lost and find myself in the Bay State, we’ll meet up.

As an aside, I noticed on your squats that you didn’t angle your feet out very far. Was that by design because of the groin irritation or do you normally keep them that way? Also, way to come back on your bench and grind out that DL lockout.

You have a lot to be proud of Modi. Fighting through the injury, smashing your second bench attempt after the spotter mistake, gutting out that third pull, and achieving a CMS total, etc. Really nice work man! So what is next and how do you plan on getting back to 100%? By running Smolov again???

Congrats. Been waiting to hear about this all friggin day. Great things lie ahead…

Powerlifting watch has had the results up for about 5 hours. I have known for awhile, muhahahahaha!

This site, watch-movies.net, and youtube are all I have up while I am working. Sad I know, but it’s true.

Nice work Modi, but I’m confused… is this Sheiko/Smolov volume thing going to your head? You’ve gone from an 8 attempt meet to a 10 attempt meet!

No problem. Next time I’m in the area we’ll catch up.

You are right. I moved my stance in on Squats a while back, and then with the groin pull I have had to angle my feet less and less.

The worst part is that my groin didn’t really hold me back from Squatting. I think it was the fear of making it worse, and not the actual injury itself. The good news is that it is a lot better today than I expected it to be. I figured there was a good chance that I would make it a lot worse this weekend, and that’s not the case, so now I can continue to heal up back to 100%.

Thanks mrodock. I really wanted to break a 600 Squat this time, and a 1600 total, but I know those are attainable for the next meet.

I am going to go easy this week, and I am away next week, with no access to a gym, so I should be able to rest up quite a bit. After that I may just use GM’s in place of my Squat for a few weeks, or I may just train Bench and DL, and work on all my Squat accessory stuff. Work heavy low back/abs/upper back.

Whatever I do, I want to get my groin to 100% so I don’t even have to think about it/use it as an excuse.

Short term goal is to get my Touch & Go Bench over 405.
