I also forgot to say one of the highlights of my workout yesterday:
130 NON-STOP reverse hypers! =D It was over 3 minutes worth of reverse hypers!
***I think I have the lower back endurance thing down pat for a while =D

I found a video of someone doing Zercher Pin pulls:
Those are gonna SUCK! =D
Ya, those are gonna suck. No lie.
I kind of had an idea what they looked like but the thought of putting all that weight on your arms made mine want to shrivel up and die.
Now, if you have the contraption he has in the vid…

Skye - when he says bringing the hips… it means that I am not thrusting powerfully =D Like I am just trying to pull the weight UP instead of pulling it back and using my weight as a counterweight by forcefully bringing my hips forward. Make sense? Yes I will try to get a video! =D

Ah, I see…you’re not humping the bar hard enough? :-H
You have the harness? I’m jealous. I actually kinda miss doing zerchers.
Well, on second thought, I really don’t miss that thing at all. It did not adjust to midget size for me so it tore up my legs, and I always ended up with nasty adhesive stuff from the foam padding all over myself.

rcfromdb - Do you usually do them? Which ones? Vertical jump? Broad jump? Spacebar test? Pencil test?
I do something similar to the spacebar test. I’m to the point where I know what I hit on an average day with a certain meal and supplement in me. It’s good to test at different times of the day, after certain foods and supplements to see what makes you peak. Now I just do it when I’m feeling a bit sluggish. Sometime I feel like crap but will score average or above average - that gives me the mental push I need to hit it hard and set a PR - knowing there are no excuses.
Why have you been out of it for 7 months?
Skye - yes… I am not humping it hard enough ;D We DO have that contraption… but like Jimbo said… we will be doing them with a cambered bar instead… (but not running with it like in the video… I am assuming he just wanted to showcase what the cambered bar that we will be using looks like)
Buckeye girl - HI!! =D Yeah I haven’t used it much… but since I am a giant I shouldn’t have any problem getting it to fit my body… =D Sounds like an awful experience for you! =-/
rcfromdb - I definitely need to do something like that… I agree that if you weren’t feeling so hot but scored well on the test it would give you that extra push! =D
I have actually felt like shit for almost a year… ever since my last figure competition. In March I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s (Autoimmune Hypothyroidism), Adrenal Fatigue and PCOS. Somehow I managed to push through and make decent gains before my powerlifting meet in May… but after May my schedule got crazy and my workouts were TERRIBLE! I could barely make it in the gym 2-3 times a week… I was exhausted, felt like a weak little kitten and it was hard to find motivation to lift. It’s just been in the last month or so that I have been hitting PR’s again and feeling like I saw a light at the end of the tunnel… (hence my rave about juicing veggies since that’s the only real thing that I have changed in that time frame). I still feel exhausted at times… but I am working with my Doctor very closely and undergoing multiple tests every couple of months trying to get a clear picture of what’s going on… I actually meet with her again on Wednesday =D
your tough mmg ~ a lot of people would sit down, watch tv, complain and give up.
Thanks nlmain! That means a lot to me… =D You know, it’s funny… whenever people discover that I have hypothyroidism and PCOS they all say, “That’s so weird! I thought only fat people had that!” or “Wow… I thought those things make you fat?!?” Or “You don’t LOOK like you have those things! You look so healthy…”
My Doctor said the reason that I don’t a lot of the symptoms is because of how I take care of myself… some VERY common symptoms of these “diseases” are facial hair, male pattern baldness, discolored/brownish knees and elbows, acne, major weight gain, etc… YIKES! I guess a lot of people do get diagnosed with these things and just give up. It infuriates me how everyone just wants a prescription these days… my Doctor is practically having to force me to take mine and I am only taking it because she and I are figuring out a long-term plan to get me off of it…
Last visit she said to me, “You know… 85% of people with Hashimoto’s are on Thyroid medication for life…”
and I looked at her and said, “Oh…ok. So what about the other 15%? Who are they? What are they doing? Why are they not on it? How can I be like them?”
It sucks but if this is my biggest problem right now then I think I am doing alright! =D
Super ridiculously random workout tonight… was supposed to squat as my days have gotten messed up and the only movement I have left to train using 75,85,95% is squats… but I wasn’t feeling it today and I want to have a good squat day… so I am skipping it for now… will do it Wednesday or Friday. Shoulder has been bugging me a bit… basically it’s poking me saying, “Hey! Don’t slack on your pre-hab woman!” So here was the workout:
Reverse Lunges
6 reps/6 reps/6 reps @ 115 lbs
supersetted with**
GHRs
15/15/15 @ body weight only
YYTWLI Raises
3 sets of 10 w no weight
Trap Bar Deadlift
50 reps @ 100 lbs <— 1 set close to failure
Kettlebell Swings
2 sets of 20 @ 44 lbs
SOOOO RANDOM! Just did what I felt like doing… oh well! Will pick back up with regular workouts soon!
I think the ‘cure,’ for me not having to take my thyroid meds was cleaning up my diet, getting rid of gluten and losing 50lbs…
granted I havent been back for a checkup since June, but I feel GREAT!!
I am due for a checkup though…but you wont see anyone calling me for one…grumble
You are your own advocate for your health!!
Those GHRs are making me green with envy.
I think the more knowledge and confidence in your abilities, the greater capacity to go random. At this point, I wouldn’t really trust myself not to follow the day’s plan.
I love the idea of “doing what you feel like doing” - its totally an intuitive way to work out.
I also really need to try these GHRs!

Randome is a good way of beating the monotony of a set program. if you usually follow one pretty strictly throwing it all in the air and doing what you like reminds you why you hit the gym in the first place. Consider it a holiday gioft for yourself.
I know I have been MIA! Big deadline at work and life has been CRAZY! =D
Betty - I am so glad that you are feeling so much better! I went to the Dr. yesterday and she said my results show that we have to up my meds. I am very upset, but I know it’s a temporary thing so I am going with it… I hate it hate it hate it but I know that together we can “fix” me =D Get in there for that check-up sister! They really won’t call you and schedule one with you? What’s that about?
Aww thanks Kimba! I LOVE LOVE LOVE GHRs and want to get really good at them again! I agree… I used to not be comfortable doing random workouts… and I definitely couldn’t do it successfully all the time… but occasionally they are good for my soul =D
Mascherano - yes you do! Do you have a GHR machine at your gym? If so, you are one of the lucky ones!
nlain - I like that! A gift for myself! =D Yeah, I am totally determined to kick this sh*t in its ass! My Doctor said on Wednesday that for some people their Hashimoto’s just disappears… I WILL BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE! End of story…
That sucks about the meds going up Molly! dang
What I meant, is that it seems like no one clinic around here keeps track of there people…I understand our health is our responsibility, but it would be kinda nice if the physicians were more pro-active…like noticing one of there patients has skipped an appt and actually picking up the phone to call! ;<
Here’s to HEALTHIER and Happy New Year!
So on Wednesday I had to get in a quick workout… so I thought I would try the Valeria which was in the Tim Henriques article found here:
So after reading the article I got the impression that I was supposed to use the BW multipliers to figure out the weights I would be using since my BW multipliers would make the weights higher than the absolute weights listed, and I also thought that I was supposed to be doing 21 pull ups with a certain amount of weight hanging off of me. I questioned whether the number in the pull ups category was how many I was supposed to do or whether I was supposed to add that weight to my body… I decided to add that weight to my body because right below the chart he says, “Remember, you are supposed to do 21 bench presses, 21 deadlifts, 21 pull ups and 21 curls…” so I thought there was no way that I was only supposed to do 5 pull ups or 15 pull ups… Also, in the original article, he has is in the following order: bench, DL, pull up, curl… in the article discussion he said it was supposed to be: bench, pull up, DL, curl… (he wants it to be edited… not sure if that has happened yet or not)… I decided to start with the “Good” category as I didn’t want to be too cocky…
But clearly my workout was WAY different than what he intended…
Anyway, here is what I did:
Bench (.5BW) = 85 lbs (1 straight set of 21)
Conventional Deadlift (BW) = 170 lbs… accidentally used 175 =D (15 reps, then 6 reps)
Pullups (+5-10 lbs… not sure exact weight of chain) (2 reps, then the rest were shitty singles) <— SO HARD!
Curls (.3BW) = 50 lbs (10 reps, then 7 reps, then 4 reps)
total time: 12:15
had equipment set up before I started… but started with a DB between my feet on pullups and that annoyed me so I spent about a minute finding a small chain*
So, you’re Elite…as I suspected ![]()
Why did you use 175 for DL? I thought it was 225 for that category…I could be wrong.
Food fog.
I was gonna do it, but I don’t bench.
